El Nakhil Hotel & Restaurant

My wife and I run a small organisation known as "The Luxor Adventure" we specialise in trips to Luxor's West Bank showing first time visitors to Egypt how to get around. We have been doing this for a number of years and have used other hotels on the West Bank. Sadly we have experienced difficulties with the other hotels e.g. extra unseen charges being added to our bills. we stayed 3 nights at the el-nakhil. the hotel is much more beautiful than it looks in pictures, the owner tzalach very friendly (ask for his father 2 take u 2 the west bank sites, he's a nice english-speaking taxi driver). the rooms are big, comfortable and very clean - plenty of hot water - breakfast is served in a beautiful scenery and is very generous and tasty. as Israelis we were a bit concerned about the way the staff will greet us, but we were pleasantly surprised and got a very warm welcome from everybody in the hotel (sadly, we... more

The El Nakhil, is situated in the back streets of the West Bank which makes the hotel very quiet and peaceful. Salah and Birgit are perfect hosts and the staff are all friendly, attentive and very helpful. The rooms are kept very clean and are comfortable - air conditioning is available, but this wasn't used during our stay in December. Breakfast, and other meals, are taken on the terrace which gives views over surrounding fields and over the Nile to Luxor and the temple. This hotel is very charming, furnished with discreet good taste and has a very cosy roof terrace with nice views. It got quite chilly at night in December so sitting by the log fire with Salah abd Birgit (the owners) and family was an excellent way to wind down. El Nakhil is a very nice hotel on the west bank of luxor with a layout around gardens. Rooms are spacious, nicley furnished and very clean, come with air conditioning but no TV or fridge (at least the one i stayed in). Currently, the hotel does not have a swimming pool, which could be a pity if you visit in the hot season. Stayed at this hotel for two nights during the end of May. It was 43 degrees celsius one day and so sitting outside on the balcony got a little warm. But the individual A/C units in the rooms worked just fine. I stayed in what is probably the best and quietest room, located at the end of hallway, with window facing the garden. It has one large queen size bed. The best hotel during our trip through egypt ! Rooms are very clean, Owner (Salah) and staff very friendly and helpfull, breakfast (included in price) is super. Had very nice time on the roofterras. reasonable prices for food in the restaurant/bar. very quiet environment, with beautifull garden.

We stayed 5 nights in El Nakhil. The location on the quiet West Bank of Luxor is just great for those who can do it without a five star demand. Our room was very clean, spacious and tastefull furnished. We had a very warm welcome by the owner Salah who organised everything we wanted witout any hustle. We enjoyed our stay very much and would always come back.

We stayed at El Nakhil for a week in March, this being the second stay for two memebers of our party. Nothing is too much trouble for Salah who will arrange everything from taxis to take you to the sites to camel rides around the villages, he gives everything the personal touch. Clean and comfortable rooms and delightful meals in the open air with views across the sugar cane fields across the Nile to Luxor. Would not hesitate in recommending to all ages of travellers.

found this hotel through a web review by another hotelier in luxor and decided to take the chance. i much prefer smaller boutique hotels than the multi national 5 star offering but having said that, with frequent travel, i've enjoyed all types of accommodation. el nakhil was definitely a good choice. the hotel is simple and clean and still being finished in parts (but we were not be subjected to any disturbances from renovations). it has modern touches mixed in with egyptian charm. no fancy facilities but we didnt care. the second best thing... more
