Riad Chouia Chouia

We approached the front door with much apprehension, the 'alleyway' does not install a feeling of luxury more one of fear. Then surprisingly though the 'low door' - watch you head if over 4 foot tall, a hidden little gem is revealed. Rooms were basic but perfect for the whole experiance of Marrakech. after booking in august we found out three weeks before going that Riad couldn't honour booking.Massoude (manager) did everything to sort it out, including phoning us in England.He is a great man, genuine and helped sort out phoning UK when our Visa card didnt work. Rooms basic, and very noisey due to shape of building (probably same for all Riads). Roof garden lovely,brekki great. We really wanted to stay in a Riad as opposed to a chain hotel but quickly realised that we had made a mistake. Not that the Chouia Choiua is bad - it is clean and the breakfast is great. However, we reserved the biggest room with en-suite bathroom and the room was still small. Bathroom had a shower that did not adhere to the wall - so we ended up having to take showers while holding the shower head above our heads. Well, what can I say? I loved this place. From the ideal location (only 5 mins from the main square, Djemaa el-Fna) to the tranquil atmosphere (the crazy noise of the nearby souks is inaudible here) to the most welcoming and hospitable manager in the world! You can chill out and read your book on the roof terrace or take a plunge in the splash pool - it's not deep but it is so refreshing after a day spent bartering your way around the souks. This doesn't claim to be a luxury riad so don't expect power showers, but it is sooo charming... more

Myself and my two daughters stayed at this riad for four nights in August 2007. First time in Morocco so we weren't sure what to expect but we really couldn't have wished for better accommodation! From the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, this tranquil riad was just a few minutes walk from the main square but it seemed miles away. Its very peaceful and the plunge pool was lovely given the heat. The roof terrace was fab at night and I can't praise the staff higher!

I stayed at Riad Chouia Chouia for 5 nights as part of an 8 night holiday in Morocco. From the outset our stay here was awesome. With the accommodation being located deep within a pedestrianised area, the owner came to meet us at our airport taxi and showed us the way. This riad was a place we found by searching on TripAdvisor. We found it to be exactly as promised, convenient to the Jemaa El Fna and the Souk. You can easily walk to the square and back in just a couple of minutes. Its located close to the Koutiubia Mosque. Kind of in the middle between the square and the mosque. We stayed in the first week of June, and had an incredibly enjoyable time at this Riad. The Riad itself is very picturesque, with all of the comforts that you would expect from a hotel of a very high standard (spotless, air conditioning etc)it still retains its Moroccan character and charm. we stayed at this riad for 3 nights from the 9th May, couldn't have asked for anything better for the price. Booking - emailed the owner and he confirmed with us, we didn't even pay a deposit. Arrival - they arranged for someone to pick us up from the airport and for the manager Massoud to meet us at the taxi drop off point, as the taxi cannot get all the way to the hotel.
