Fantastic Family Hotel!
We have just returned from a week at H10 Lanzarote Gardens in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. We were travelling with our 2 1/2 years and a 9mth old. This hotel was designed for families. We had a fantastic time and would go back and stay there again. The only thing that we will do differently would be jump in a taxi to the hotel rather than booking the transfer with the tour operator. Costa Teguise is only about a 20min drive from the airport. Rather than spending over an hour on the bus with 2 kiddies at 9pm at night! Hotel Info: Staff are welcoming and very friendly. They speak Spanish, English and German. Laundry - 2 Self Servicing Laundries available. Cost per wash / dry is 3 Euro. Get tokens from reception. You can borrow the following from reception: ** TV Remote ** Parking Key ** Toilet Seats ** Potties ** Bottle Warmer ** Electric Kettles You will need to pay between 10 and 20 Euro deposit which will be returned to you on return of goods. Food: - Separate Kiddies Buffet each evening. - Can order fresh baby food from reception at a small cost. - There was enough variety to ensure that we ate at the hotel every night during our stay there. - If you take the half board option, this DOES NOT include your drinks. - Breakfast is served between 07:30am - 10am - Dinner is served between 6pm - 10pm Swimming Pools: - There is a separate kiddies pool which is heated over the winter months. This does lose the sun at this time of the year very quickly in the afternoon. - There is a large pool and a small pool. The smaller of the 2 pools is heated during the winter months. Other Amenties: - Internet Access Apartments/Rooms: - These were large and spacious. We had 2 travel cots in our sitting room and still had enough room for the girls to play in. - The kitchen area is compact but has all the necessary facilities that you might need if you were on self catering. - For all you TEA loves out there, you will need to hire a kettle from reception. As the room comes with a coffee machine only. - All have a balcony. - All families with small children are generally given a ground floor apartment. Children Activities: - Baby Club - IT IS FREE!!!! Hours are from 09:30am-1pm and 3pm-6pm Takes babies from 6 mths old to 3yrs Can only have 6 children in at any one time You can just go and play with all the toys with your kids Has a separate sleeping room with at least 3 cots in Lots of craft activites for the kids to be involved in - Mini Club - IT IS FREE!!!! Hours are from 10:00am-1pm and 3pm-6pm For 4-10yrs - Mini Disco EVERY night from 8pm-9pm Simply brilliant. Our 2yrs LOVED it and we had to go EVERY night during our stay. It was difficult to pull her away at times. - A separate ball pit and playground for each age group. Other Useful Information - There is a Pharmacy right next door to the hotel which has a good range of baby food and equipment. Just in case, you lose that all important dummy or bottles. - There is a Netto Supermarket about 400m aways - There is lots of bars, restuarants across the road from the hotel. Not alot of local spanish food!! - There is a couple of rental car companies there as well. You can hire a car for a day from 20 Euros. This will include all insurances, unlimited miles and taxes. It will also include Kiddie Seats!!! Sightseeing: ** JAMEOS DEL AGUA** A must see!!! - No pushchair access! (-) **CUEVA DE LOS VERDES** - No pushchair access! - Guided walk - Under ground for about an hour so make sure that your toddlers are up to the challenge. Our 2 1/2 old had a fantastic time. (-) **NATIONAL PARK OF TIMANFAYA** - Included in the admission price is a bus tour which lasts about an hour (-) **Jardín de Cactus** - Lovely place. Has a great cafe and a free drink is included in the price of admission. **MIRADOR DEL RÍO** - A nice place to stop for morning/afternoon tea whilst you are having a drive around the top of the island. (-) It is important to remember that Lanzarote is famous for Windsurfing and there it can be windy most of the time!! Have fun, we did. See you at the beach :-)
Great Holiday - good location
We arrived at the Lanzarote Gardens Hotel, at Mid-day, it was raining and the coldest we have ever experienced in the Canaries, The Staff were very friendly our apartment was prehaps a little tired, and in need of refurbishment, but it was very comfortable and was fully equipped for self catering although we were staying half board. The food was buffet style breakfast and evening meal, there was always a very good meal to be found in the excellent and varied selection available. The weather improved, there were plenty of sunbeds, and the heated pool was warm, all the garden /pool area was clean and well presented. The only, slight critisism was having to hire the sun mattress to go on the sun bed at 1 euro per day. the cost to administer, must have been more thn the return. The entertainment staff worked hard and were very good. All the children we saw at the hotel appeared to be happy and having a good time. We had a great two weeks and I would certainly return. The Hotel is in a great location for the beaches and evening visits to Town. We hired a car for 3 days (72Euros) touring the island sites was easy, and well recommemded.
Great Hotel
We stayed at this hotel 1st January for a week. The hotel is very pleasant and we were welcomed and given our room key without any wait or hastle. The reception staff are excellent and all speak good English. We were in room 126 which is a refurbished room. The bathroom was new, all the floors were tiled and furniture had been updated to pine. The room was a good size and very clean but a little basic. There was Sky TV showing a few programmes in English including Cartoon Network and Sky News. We were short of towels but having asked at reception these were delivered within 10 minutes. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. The animation staff were first class and kept my son who is 11 amused throughout our holiday. They put on shows every night which were first class and included the Lion King and Grease. There was also a one man show with a guy called Rueben which is not to be missed. The food is of a good standard - nothing fancy - but always plentyful and hot, some choices e.g. chicken/veal were cooked fresh there and then, and wine with dinner was reasonable from 7.60 euros. Unfortunately the weather was very mixed, no rain but plenty of clouds and that combined with the constant breeze kept us a little on the cool side. It was cold at night. There is a pharmacy and Doctors clinic right next door to the hotel and a shopping centre and supermarket across the road. The beach is also across the road and a few nice restaurants line the promenade. The resort is nice and quiet and felt very safe. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Nice Hotel, Good Location
Its' a nice place considering it's only 3 star. The Kids Clubs are well done - my 3 year old son loved it. The gardens/ pool etc are well maintained. The facilities are and staff are very good (bars, restaraunt, reception, internet etc. There is a good programme of activities if that is your thing. We arrived during a tropical storm and the weather was not great all week so we were very glad for the kids club and the distraction of the activities. Pretty reliable H10 standards. The rooms and in-room facilities are generally pretty good. You could do a lot worse in Costa Teguise than this. Well positioned to the two beaches, harbour, supermarket etc. The accommodation was definitely good value for money. Finding a good restaraunt can be a bit hit and miss in the resort but you can rely on the reception staff to make a decent recommendation. Costa Teguise seems to be a pretty middle of the road resort. Farily small, pretty quiet but certainly not spectacular or at the higher end of the market. Quite a few british karakoe/ sky sports/ english breakfast establishments a number of Irish Bars. Each to their own. I probably wouldn't go back to Costa Teguise but that probably had more to do with the weather. For what it's worth my tip for the canaries would be Playa Meloneras in Gran Canaria - definately worth a week but relatively pricey accommodation but then there is always a reason for that.
Top notch family hotel
Just got back today and pleased to report that the hotel lived up to expectations with the excellent reviews on this and other holiday review websites. The kids clubs facilities are superb. The toddlers club runs from 0-3 years and 9am to 1pm and then 3pm to 6pm and has its own little secure play room with lots of activities to do and a secure outdoors play area attached. The German lady that ran it was a diamond. Our 3 year old daughter kept asking to go back morning and afternoon for an hour at a time! The kids club for 4 - 10 year olds looked great with various activities all day long. The rooms are basic but really clean and perfectly functional. Try and get a room in block 2 or 3 overlooking the pool. We had room 324 which was perfect on the top floor (of three) Block 1 is too near the evening entertainment area so would be a touch noisy for those with very young kids who need quiet around 9 / 10 pm. Blocks 4 and 5 are OK but your balcony will face away from the pool and over onto a play area and some land. Restaurants are great, a very nice italian in the shopping centre opposite the hotel. If you walk along behind the beach on the path to the town you will find La Ola which is good and you can eat and look at the views of the sea and the beach. Further on in the town there are loads to choose from. Stay clear from the big new Lanis Tex Mex, we went there and the service was terrible and grumpy and the food average at best. Get a taxi from the airport 15 euros and you are at the hotel in 10 minutes. We landed at 5.20pm and were in our room within 45 minutes ! This meant we beat all the rush before the coaches arrived. There are not that many English at the hotel, mostly Germans and a few Dutch and Italians, Spanish.....You are not allowed to reserve sun beds so no need to worry about those strange Germans getting up in the dark to put their towels out !
7 out of 10 !
Very good rooms, large & very clean. And T.V. in English at no extra charge ! (as with the sunbeds and fridge). On the down side, there were LOTS of small children. And the Hotel food would be 4 to 5 out of 10 ! (maybe lower!)...Some building work was underway to improve the outside Bar, although this is probably finished now. The evening entertainment is really only for quite young children. (only one show for grown ups per week). Sunbathing in the hotel was only slightly spoilt by the quite strong wind. But that made the waves good on the beach !
Just returned from super holiday
we arrived back yesterday and would rate the holiday one of our best ever. Lanzorote gardens is an excellent complex and the food is of a good standard and plentiful. We found the animation team to be very professional. We tended to go to the beach most days when we were not on trips. No problems with baggage handlers at the airport.Costa teguise was perfect for us with plenty of bars and places to eat out.We would return to this hotel. warchope
Best ever family hotel
Just returned from a superb self catering holidayat this hotel. we were there for two weeks with our two boys aged 4 an 8. Both of them went to the onsite kids club which was run by the animation team who were excellent. The accommodation was of good standard but could do with air conditioning, as during the night it can get really hot. Whilst we were there it reached nearly 37 degrees in the day and at least 26 at night. Many of the staff speak spanish, italian and german, there english is good too. Most of the other holiday makers were from germany and italy, which sometimes made it difficult for the childeren to make friend as they did not understand each other. However during our second week more english speaking holiday makers arrived and the children were able to make some good friends. The onsite pool bar is cheap and the buffet in the restaruent is also of good quality. The animation team are very talented and provide excellent entertainment in the evening. Every evening there is someting for all the family to enjoy.During our two weeks we made sure that we were back in time to see the shows. The Hotel is close to the beach, the beach accross the road is rocky however if you walk another 10 minutes you come to a lovely white sandy beach. The restaurants around the commercial centre are reasonablly priced. We hired a car for three days from accross the road from the hotel which was more than enough to see the island and visit the volcanoes. All in all our holiday was wonderful and the hotel and the animation staff just made it even better.
Great, absolutely great !
My wife and baby daughter (10 months) and I, sister-in-law and niece (2 yrs) have just stayed in the Lanzarote Gardens for a week. I can honestly say for three star accomodation it was the best value for money I have ever came across. Upon checking-in the staff are warm, friendly and helpful and our room was clean, tidy and spacious. The cot which was provided for our baby was large and clean, and when asked for another travel cot for my niece another was provided early the next morning. The rooms don't have air-conditioning, however the ever present off-shore breeze meant that the rooms were kept comfortable. We stayed on a half-board basis and the food was good with a wide and varied selection. The hotel guests are a mixture of nationalities with the predominant one being spanish, therefore the food reflects this which allowed us to enjoy some things we had not tried before (it was also nice NOT to see football tops worn everywhere as you see at many other holiday destinations). The childrens clubs and services can be summed up in one word - SUPERB ! The staff around the pools (which is large but not heated, however you got warmed up once you were in) were always coming round asking if you wanted to participate in various activities, aimed at both adults and children, so the children were never stuck for somthing to do. The night time shows were good and varied and involved everyone. All in all a great family holiday destination, in a great location (quiet, 200m from the beach, lots of supermarkets, restraunts etc near by), with staff who are helpful and have your enjoyment of your holiday as their main priority. I would be more than willing to return to this hotel and have actually become a member of the H10 group, as if the other hotels in this chain are as good as this I will become a regular visitor. Other points of info - 16 Euros in a taxi from the airport, maid service is early (around 10am) which makes a change !
Fabulous in every way
A friend and I stayed with our two kids (both 2 years old) on a Mother's getaway without our husbands. The Baby Club was excellent (Julia took great care of the children and they actually looked forward to going to it instead of crying to stay with Mum! It is half outside/half inside so they were able to use a small play area when it was not too hot. We were originally worried that there was no air conditioning but found the weather - even in July- to be perfectly pleasant. There was a perpetual breeze that cooled off the room as soon as you opened the door. The staff, especially David at the front desk and of course Julia, were tops. We would love to stay again. Food was good although drinks are not included with supper. You are across the street from a shopping area and the beach (sandy but as you got above the knee it became rocky so I would recommend water shoes). If you forget anything there are 2 grocers within 2 blocks that stay open until 22:00.
