Wonderful riad, great service!
My husband and I, both Americans in our late 20's, stayed here for 4 nights in May 2006. The location is great - about a 5 minute walk to the Djemaa el Fna and close enough to other sights in the medina. This riad is gorgeous and the staff is English-speaking (for the most part), and attentive but discreet. The decor includes modern and traditional artwork from all over the Middle East and North Africa, blended with modern and traditional furnishings - very chic. The food is also great - we stayed in for dinner one night and had a... more
Enjoyable stay at this stylish riad
Despite initial problems in locating this riad - the address is no use at all and we had to ask several passers by for assistance - we were grateful to arrive at this lovely riad. Our room was on the ground floor and a little smaller than we had hoped, although the bathroom was huge! The riad is deceptively large and there are lots of inter-connecting corridors and staircases. The terrace is also large and breakfasts can be enjoyed there whilst appreciating the excellent views. I was disappointed by the pool - one of the main... more
Like nowhere else...
We stayed at the El Cadi in June 06 and had an amazing few days. There were three of us so we booked the Blue House which is on three levels and has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a terrace and a roof area. Photos don't do this hotel justice - there are several courtyards, one with a small pool and the central courtyeard (where dinner is served) is tranquility itself. Like other reviewers, I would recommend eating at the hotel as many nights as you can: in terms of food and ambience you'll find it hard to beat in Marrakech. Any other... more
Great little hotel
Stayed here with a friend for 4 nights at the end of Jan 2006. Originally booked the Aleppo room for the shower and twin beds but as the couple staying in the room before us wanted to stay an extra night the hotel asked if we wanted a suite instead at no extra charge - the Chaouen Room, v nice, with air con / heating, seperate room with fridge, main room with double bed and small room off it with single bed and wardobe and a fire which they will light for you if you are inept like me ! As the weather was rainy somedays and sunny on others we... more
Places like the El Cadi have made Marrakech better than ever
This was my 10th visit to Marrakech since 1969. The city has changed a lot and, unlike most places, entirely for the better!!! The hotel scene is way better too and I'll never stay at the uptight, over the hill Mamounia again now that Marrakech is bristling with these awesome, cool, FRIENDLY riads! The el Cadi was completely fantastic-- wonderful people working there, great attitude, real personal. And the place is beautiful and right in the heart of the medina. Staying there made me feel I was LIVING in Marrakech, not just a tourist passing... more
Wonderful in every way
From the moment we arrived (late 17 November), we were treated like family and led to our delightful, spacious room with excellent shower room. Then we were served a delicious 3 course dinner in a small room with just 2 or 3 other tables. The next day breakfast on one of their extensive terraces - delicious and very relaxing. Here we were in the middle of the busiest part of Marrakech but the place is SO tranquil - you could not hear a thing. Very tastefully appointed with lots of little nooks and crannies. A great massage and... more
Not quite what we were expecting.....
We stayed at the El Cadi for 5 nights, and our hopes were high. We had already stayed as a part of our honeymoon for a couple of nights in Marrakech as a part of our trip at the Riad Noga before we went up country to stay at the Dar Ahlam in Skoura. So we were quite used to exceptional, but easy going establishments. We arrived a couple of days after the owner had her wedding there, and it honestly felt that we were intruding into someone else's home, where as staying at Noga you feel it IS your home. This impression persisted for me... more
Friendly and Charming
A truly Marrakech experience, probably one of the best spots the city has to offer. Staff were incredibly nice. The Ryad belonged to the German ambassador in Morocco and his daughter is now in charge, she garantees a great service, attention to detail and a magic atmosphere. Well done!
Home from home
What a stunner! We arrived at Riad El Cadi in the Medina at 11pm at night after walking through the throngs of Jemma El Fenna. The winding narrow streets of the Medina are mirrored in the most charming, personal guest house you would ever hope to come across. The rooms are tastefully decorated; not too much fuss and the facilities are excellent. Don't bother eating out as you will not find better food in Marrakesh. The resident chef Mostapha, is bold with his flavour and there seems no end to the variety. In an unhurried, attentive manner... more
The best thing about Marrakech
I am not a huge fan of Marrakech but I adore this hotel. It's beautiful, quiet, peaceful and perfectly located. Although a warning, you'll probably get lost finding your way to the reception area from your room. The hotel staff rescued me more than once roaming the passageways. Make sure to have dinner at el Cadi at least once. The food was perfection, the service very thoughtful and the dining area was gorgeous. Also, call a few minutes ahead before arriving at the main entrance to the Medina and they will send someone with a... more
