I am a 17 year old brit. My grandparents live in the hotel, as they have been coming to the island for over 20 years. I can safely say the nightlife is outstanding for the younger generation. There is non-stop entertainment throughout the day and night, ensuring maximum... more

Want noise? Come to St. Georges Park/LaValette apts. Partying until the early hours ensures that your children will not sleep, and your children crying will ensure nor do you! I complained and asked to be moved from the room directly above disco, on the front, but hotel was... more

Room was dirty - no one cleaned our sink all week! No entertainment, all inclusive option was a joke. Lunch was unavailable, the dinners were terrible (tinned food every night badly overcooked) No choice of snacks, indoor bar was shut, no mattresses on the sun loungers!... more

Are these comments for real? I would not send my worst enemy here. We had a group holiday for 26 people booked to stay at these apartments and all had to pay on arrival to be moved to a different resort. The apartments were an absolute disgrace, tiny, filthy, like a sweat... more

A very good hotel for its 3* rating. The food was great and I am a very picky eater so if I say the food is great then it really is. A good choice everyday and if you don’t like what’s on offer they will cook you something else. Great catering for the kids too. The... more

It was a great location, right on the doorstep of the nightlife, but this did not affect the quality of sleep. The locals and staff were very very helpful and friendly at all times, you could walk out at night on your own without a problem. The bus service to other parts... more

My husband and my 8 year old and I were staying at St George’s Park Apartments in the Paceville area of St George’s/St Julian’s bay in Malta. We paid 1300 Euros for 1 week self catering. We were initially concerned by the liveliness of the resort and had heard some... more

Terrible holiday
Booked with Sunmaster - never again! Hotel was dirty, food was awful - when you could get any. We stayed on All Inclusive - what a joke. It was basically a very poor half board. Lunch was non-existent, dinner was terrible - tinned food overcooked, snacks were non existent except soggy sandwiches in the pool bar fridge. The only good part was the pool bar staff - friendly and helpful and the waiters in the 'restaurant'. If you want to eat disgusting food, sleep on a hard lumpy bed and listen to people playing cricket down the hallways at night - go ahead have a great holiday!
Basic but good value for self catering vegetyarian
I booked this long stay winter break with Malta Direct, a subsiduary of Air Malta. For what I paid, £330.75 including all taxes and supplements, for a five week package deal, I got good value for money. I flew from Manchester in an old Boeing 737 to Luqa and I got to my hotel within 30mins of arriving in Malta. Check-in was fast and friendly. The room was quite large and furnished for a family rather than a single bloke and being on the top floor, the room had a large balcony which was about the same size as the living area and it received the sunshine all day. there were two problems that I reported to the receptionist on the first day. The larger element of the two ring cooker/oven unit didn't heat. The TV blasted full volume when swithched on. The cooker was fixed within the hour. The TV was sorted within two days. I was satisfied with the maid service. Two new towels every day and bed linen changed reqularly. The room heater was redundant as the temperature averaged 17.5oC during what was the hottest January on record in Malta. The maximum daily shade temperature was well into the twenties and the minimum night time temperature rarely fell to less than 14oC. The fridge worked efficiently thoughout my stay, but the ice compartment did need defrosting weekly. The kitchen equipment was basic, but enough for my purposes, vegetable soup with lovely local produce at a fraction of what we pay back home, fantastic crusty bread and dal curries......... The hotel offered entertainment six nights out of seven, plus live sports from Britain in the TV lounge. A bar and restaurant were provided, a games room with pool tables and video games, a health suite for those wishing to body build.......indoor and outdoor swimming pools........and very few guests. Though I stayed in the centre of Paceville, I was never troubled by noise - possibly due to the roof-top location of my room. With M&S and other British high street stores a short three minute stroll away in the nearby Bay Street complex and an excellent Arcadia super market at the Portomaso complex some five minutes away, I couldn't complain about the facilities within the resort. My only annoyance was that of the mosquetos....bring a plug-in inscet killer for your room. Twenty bites before I bought one. Only two bites after! Yes it is basic. But it is clean and the staff are caring and you get what you pay for. Blimey, five weeks of uninterupted sinshine for £330.75. As Arnie would say, I'll be back.
Better than expected
After reading the previous reviews about St Georges Park we were expecting the worst. However we were pleasantly surprised. The building is old and basic, but the rooms were large comfortable and clean. We had a self catering 1 bedroom apartment and were not expecting the room to be serviced while we were there. However the bathroom was cleaned daily clean towels were offered and our beds were made and one day our dishes were done. We were very impressed. It may get a bit noisy in the summer but we had no problems at all for our 6 night stay.
Do not say here!
I am sorry to say that I did not read the revievws before I stayed in this hiddious place! On arrival it seems we interrupted the receptionists lunch, as first she had to finish the page of her book and finish her sandwich before she could speak to us! The rooms were basic to say the least and I dread to think what was living in the matress as it really didnt smell very nice. When they say shower what they didnt say was that you would need two people in order to be able to use it. One has to hold it as there was no attachment and the other to stand under what can only be described kindly as a trickle of water! That was all great, but the fun really started after 10 when every single person under the age of 40 flocked into the many clubs and bars that surrounded the hotel. We only stayed two nights thank god as it was not possible to sleep before 6. Even with the patio doors shut the mismash of music pumping out the doorless clubs made it impossible to sleep. If you have booked to stay here change it!!!
Do Not Ever Stay Here - Nightmarish!
This was the hotel nightmares are made of. The outside facade looked nice, clean and modern, but the rooms were just horrible. From the bathroom with the toilet that was broken to the disgusting kitchen and smelly beds with lumpy pillows. The gigantic cockroach climbing the wall was the last straw! I opened a door downstairs in the complex to find it full of dirty bath towels and other things I didn't want to imaging. We arrived very late at night at arround 9 p.m. and within an hour were phoning around looking for alterate accommodations. In desperation, we booked into the Westin for a few days until we found something more affordable for 3 weeks. We requested our money back and after some discussion received it. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE - SLEEP IN A DITCH IF YOU HAVE TO!
Okay but not quiet
We booked a week in this complex self-catering. Room was basic but clean and maid service daily. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Only problem was the Friday and Saturday night was very noisy with the discos which went on until the wee small hours. The noise from the discos was more like 100 boyracers with boom boom boxes in their cars sitting under your window. There is an abundance of really great restaurants, a must to try is "The Bed" (Korean) at the Hilton complex and also the many restaurants facing the basin at Spinola Bay.
It's OK place...
I was surprised to see how many people are unsatisfied with this hotel. Are You people all so spoiled on the West? OK. It wasn't the best hotel I have ever been, but at the main door You should find a sign that says: it's a 3 star hotel. The main thing that I want to say is...The accommodation is basic but adequate for normal persons needs (I travelled with my husband and my 3 year old son). The place is reasonably clean (not squeaky, but good enough), food is OK, the outdoor pool is very nice and (here comes the main thing) the stuff is very, very friendly and nice. So if the luxury is what You want - You should book 5* hotel. There is plenty of those on Malta. For the record : Malta is lovely. We will come again.
If you want no sleep,or to die of food poisoning
If you want no sleep or to die of food poisoning then stay at this hotel. I did and when I stood in my night clothes at four o'clock in the morning in reception asking the receptionist if she could not hear the noise that I could hear as I stood there or answer her phone I was met with complete indifference. She did, eventually call security who looked, listened and did nothing. The food that was purchased was, originally I believe, of good quality was destroyed or left under an uncooked. When I asked the chef if he could not taste the food before it was presented to us his reply was "Why should I?". As I left the dining room, in anger, as I intended to speak to my, Chevron, rep, I fell over a hosepipe that was stretched across the floor accross the diningroom door. Other guests, who had agreed with regarding the state of the food, picked me up and helped me to my room. An employee of the hotel;Tony from the diningroom saw, that I had fallen but did nothing to assist me nor did he report the incident to his superiors. This occurred at 2pm and it was not until I phoned reception at 4pm that any response was made by the hotel. I moved to The Santana Hotel, in Qarwa, where I had a Very happy stay and sucessfully finished my holiday. I would rather tell the world how bad it was than sue. I believe it to be much more effective. This is not the full story but you would be as bored with the whole thing as I am.
U Got 2 B Kidding
St Georges Park if u are 18/30 its fine but for normal people u are joking, I have seen better , its noisiy, food seen better on english motorway services! The room we had over looked the pool, no air con, no fridge, No Shower?. We were there one night that was enough, specialy after at 5am, we were woken by some of the Guests in the pool (i us the word guests as i can print what i want to put) !! Stay there again NEVER!!
Average Hotel
I am suprised to see such poor reviews of this hotel. I know it is quite old and fairly large but it is not the worst hotel I have stayed in by a long shot! Admittedly the first room we checked into was in a poor state, bathroom dirty, overhead fan broken and was facing towards the noisy bars and restaurants. However after being assertive with reception staff and following a frank discussion with the Manager we were moved to a bigger, cleaner and far more superior room overlooking the swimming pool. Apart from being next to a group of noisy drunken middle aged women we had no problems with the hotel. We were staying at St Georges on a half board basis but never ate there much as there were loads of lovely restaurants in St Julians Bay. We both loved Malta and found it an easy place to explore. Buses are frequent, cheap and take you to many tourist places. Sliema, Valetta and Mdina are well worth a visit. Gozo is worth travelling to also -although be aware of the over zealous taxi drivers there. I would recommend that if people are staying in either St Georges Bay or St Julians to visit The Radisson SAS Hotel for a meal or drink and appreciated the spectacular views over the harbour. Would go back to Malta any day!
