Hotel Indigo New York City Chelsea

We traveled with our 8 year old son and found the hotel to be a completely pleasant expereince. Being from Texas, we did feel the rooms to be a bit diminutive, however NYC hotels in general are smaller than average. Being a small boutique I felt as if we were the only travelers there even though the hotel was completely booked. There are only eight rooms to a floor. It was quiet and clean throughout. The staff always reacted in a benevolent manner when we asked common subway questions every morning on our way out. Great location!

I came with a colleague for a meeting and some culture. Our plane arrived early and the front desk Arturo and Wesley should run their own hotel they were so accommodating. Our room was terrific and the location was great for both meetings, shopping, taxis and the metro. I would definately recommend this hotel to a friend. The price was a hint over $150 and we had 2 queen beds. Very happy.

I like a contemporary hotel like Hotel Indigo. The room decor was stylish and pleasant. The bed was extremely comfortable, moreso than even the best hotels I've stayed in. I always wonder what standards people are applying when they describe an urban hotel room as small. This is not a small room, not large, but by no means small. We stayed here for 6 nights early December 2009. The hotel is in an excellent location. The rooms were perfect, very clean, a decent size and the bed was very comfy and huge. There is plenty of space to keep your luggage out of the way. It was a shame there was no coffee machine in the room, but this is a minor negative. The bathroom was fine, spotlessly clean, there is no bath just a big walk in shower, nice toiletries provided. There is a restaurant at the hotel but the menu is very limited so we didn't eat there. Great hotel in a great location. Rooms are nicely decorated and a little larger than most NYC rooms. I was worried about location, but the 1 subway is right down the street and the NRW lines are a very short walk away. You can get anywhere from those lines. I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed 5 nights with my husband for a sightseeing break and loved the hotel. Great location a few blocks from Macy's and Times Square, with one subway line at the end of the block and another 2 blocks in the other direction. Modern minimalist design, big room, king sized bed with crisp white linen, huge flat screen TV with loads of channels. Bathroom good size with nice Aveda toiletries. Reception and bar staff very helpful and friendly and lovely, if lethal, cocktails in the bar were great.

Recently spent 4 nights in HI which was my first time in NY and my wife's return to the Big Apple after nearly a decade where we planned to do the NY Siteseeing experience. Early starts, always on the move and needing to cover a lot of space in a short time and with this in mind we looked for a top spot on the map at best possible price which was clean and comfortable which this hotel hit the spot. Based on Hotel Indigo marketing and website, I anticipated a fresh, chic/value experience and got average or below. The rooms are very small (smaller than the sales person claimed on the phone). When I asked about square footage, none of the staff had a clue. The rooms were adequate with no real closet, no luggage rack (I begged for one and the reception person responded with "we just don't have them. We're trying to be different;" success!), no feather or down pillows ("people really only want hypoallergenic foam;" really??), no fresh... more

So I traveled to NYC for 3 days and stayed at HI. After reading about the hotel online and calling with questions, I was prepared to be fairly impressed. Instead I give it an "meh". Here's some pros and cons. Pros: - Room size: I know another reviewer said the rooms are small but I had a King standard room and it was nice sized for a NYC hotel. This hotel is supposed to be new but it feels like I've stayed here before under a different name. Overall it's an okay hotel--but nothing special. The lobby is nondescript so you don't get a feel for what style it's aiming for. Then the rooms are minimal but not really from a designed pov. Almost feels skimpy moreso than understated 'cool'. The room is small without a real closet. The bathroom is large enough, but the shower isn't fully enclosed so it's a bit of an odd experience. NO coffee maker!
