Larchmont Hotel

I had read the reviews and was ready for a good value but the larchmont exceeded my expectations. The location is fantastic. Very safe, very charming and a five minuite walk from great restrauntants and the village scene. We ate tapas at Alta's on West 10th. Great value and very stylish My room was $99 ($114 with Tax) which I beleive was on the high end for this hotel. On the + side I got a large room with 2 windows. My husband and I stayed at the Larchmont in Oct of 2004 and found it to be a clean and comfortable room for the price. The staff is very friendly and the small touches added to the rooms such as books, cotton bathrobes, and slippers really make this place a gem in the rough. Even though the bath is shared we never saw another person and there was no waiting. There was a sink in our room which was convenient. I would highly suggest this hotel not only for the great location- but for the price- which just can't be beat.

Excellent location away from the hustle and bustle one typically finds in New York. It's about a four block walk to the subway station. This is a very warm and inviting hotel and room. I had room 5E5 and while small, it was perfect for a single person traveling alone. Hotel gives you a nice robe and slippers for trips down the hall to the bathroom, which is immaculately cleaned. Having spent a good deal of time reading reviews etc.. on this website, I finally picked the Larchmont as the base for my first visit to New York. I hadn't seen as much positive feedback for such a reasonably priced hotel. I have to say that having arrived in The Larchmont, I was (unpleasantly) surprised. This hotel was fabulous. Having stayed at the milford plaza (midtown) previously I wanted somewhere a little cosier and close to the village. This is seriously the best area of NYC to stay in. It has such character. The avenue the Larchmont was located on was beautiful. It was on a quiet residential street yet really close to the village/metro etc. I had a nice view out of my window also. I was recommended the Larchmont by a couple of friends and was pleased to read the mostly positive reviews on this site. My husband and I recently stayed at the Larchmont for 3 nights. The rooms and bathrooms (shared) are very clean and quiet, and we appreciated the neighborhood, and of course, the very reasonable price. My major complaint was that the bedroom doors don't fit the door frames very well, so the hallway lighting (about 6,000 watts of flourescent light strips!) kept us awake the first night. For $ 80.00 US including breakfast it would be difficult to find a better deal in NYC. The shared bathrooms are certainly not as convenient as having a private bath and the shower is a little small but for the price I was willing to overlook these small details. Great neighborhood, lots of restaurants, easy walk to soho and midtown. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The Larchmont is an excellent place to stay for the budget conscious traveler. The Hotel is in a quaint Greenwich Village brownstone neighborhood. The rooms are clean with a sink, desk, telephone, and television. The bathrooms are "down the hall", but it seems that there are two showers/toilets for about every 6 rooms. I've never had to wait nor have I run into anyone in the hallway. There are a variety of wonderful cafes very nearby as well as convenient subway stations. My husband and I stay at the Larchmont whenever we visit New York City.

A really good place to "crash" and enjoy the Village. The street was very quiet but close to lots of things. It is not luxury, but very clean and well kept. I would recommend it for anyone just wanting to see New York on a short visit. The value is worth the lack of ammenities. There is a subway station close by and a taxi to Central Park was $9.00. Stay there it OK.

Agree with others that location is great and hotel is perfect for the nonfussy, solo traveler. Single rooms come in two sizes with two rates. I chose the smaller, which is $70/night weekday and $85/night weekend. The room is small, with single bed, cable tv, ac,small closet, and sink, but was big enough for me. Provided robes are a necessity, because there really isn't space in the shower room to take your clothes with you. I never had to wait for wc or shower.
