" My partner and I stayed in this hotel... "

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 10 days.

Overall the hotel & staff were excellent. We had an apartment with separate bedroom and living/kitchen area, a big balcony overlooking the pool & sea.

Although we were self catering we stayed in the hotel and ate in their restaurant most nights, the food was delicious and varied every night. We just went to one of the many bars within this hotel and although it was quiet it was perfect for what we wanted.

No noisy girl & boy groups and it was about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Caleta De Fuste, so again no noise surrounding the hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel we were given a pack from the tour operator which had all sorts of information on the hotel, Fuerteventura and Caleta De Fuste it’s self.

In the centre of Caleta De Fuste there was a small shop for tours/excursions. We wanted to book the boat trip to Lanzarote but we missed the time slot, so we went on a tour round Fuerteventura, a bus took us to a Goat, Cheese & Aloe Vera Farm, to the capital, Corralejo for shopping etc and to look at the sand dunes. Again this was a brilliant trip for very little money.

We both said that we would definitely go back to this hotel which we would never do, but all inclusive next time as the food was so good.

I would definitely recommend this hotel it was fantastic!

" Excellent, albeit basic.... "

Excellent, albeit basic. Accommodation in a large four storey complex, just beside the promenade and close to the beach, shops and many restaurants.

Excellent children's club which was really enjoyed by my 8-year old daughter. She also enjoyed the mini-disco each night at 8.30.

Tandoori restaurant is excellent. For a special occasion, try the Spanish restaurant in the complex. Unusual food, quiet atmosphere, good service and at prices about half you would pay in a similar restaurant in Ireland.

We found the Steak House disappointing (poor service, smoking allowed indoors, staff running around like headless chickens).

Snorkeling was fun. Only disappointment was a trip to nearby Puerto del Rosario, which seemed to have little to offer the tourist, but considering the bus fares amounted to less than three euro (for the three of us) and lunch for three cost 14 euro, we couldn't really complain.

" Castillo San Jorge is part of a three... "

Castillo San Jorge is part of a three hotel complex and offers no nonsense, clean, basic accommodation. The pool is a little small but does have a nice bar and other pools are accessible at the adjoining hotels. There's a charge of 20Euro's for a safe deposit box for the week, which seemed a bit steep, but does give peace of mind. Bottom line I had no major issues with the hotel as a base for my holiday.

San Jorge is nicely situated in the resort. A "promenade" at the back gives a nice walk to the beach and a shopping centre beyond in one direction. In the other direction you can get views along the coast to Lanzarote. Of all the bars in the resort I only sampled one:-bar Havana. It has a nice candle lit rustic atmosphere by night and wall to wall Latino music. It is popular with the locals and the bar staff are friendly once they get to know you. Watching Spanish footy on Spanish telly, with the locals, was a novelty!

It is worth hiring a car to see the island:-autos Moreno were very helpful and friendly and the process straightforward. The mountain road to Betancuria is spectacular and there is an observatory at the top offering views over the whole island. Betancuria itself is a nicely kept village with a very Spanish feel (or should that be Canarian?) and has a number of craft shops. The road on to Pajara goes through the picturesque vega de rio Palmas. Even one day's car hire could take in the above, the dunes and port at Corallejo and maybe lunch at the quiet, unspoilt village of El Cotillo.

Alternatively, one hour's drive will take you to Jandia for lunch and then chill out on the miles of natural beach that the island is famous for. If you do hire a car, take a mobile phone (I didn't!). Even though it's a small island, if you do breakdown or get into trouble it can be a long walk to help along most of the roads!

" Although turning up three hours... "

Although turning up three hours before the official check in time, we were told that we could leave our luggage in a 'left luggage' room and were told to return in half an hour, we were then checked in quickly and courteously and with the minimum of fuss.

We found our room easily and were very pleased on what we found, it was large and very clean, everything we needed.

The only complaint regarding the room was that the balcony overlooked other balconies and vica versa. Which meant for the sake of privacy we were unable to open our curtains fully for the whole week. This problem would only occur if you had a room which faced another one of the hotels.

One other point to note is that in the mornings staff would go about their daily duties, because of the courtyards below the sound travelled and what seemed like a conversation felt like a shouting match and the wheels on trolleys sounded like a train passing outside the door.

Otherwise the complex was brilliant, three very different pool areas in regards to atmosphere, the resort was central to all activities, a 10 min walk to the sandy man made beach, 5 min walk to the centre of town, a nice costal path which lead you past the rocky coast line, past the chip monks, and onto the harbour area.

The resort caters for the majority of food taste, Chinese, Indian, American diners, Italian, Mexican, English, Spanish and Caribbean. There are many little bars dotted around we found a lovely little bar called Havana, well worth a visit, opposite the great wall Chinese restaurant down the stairs. Many gift shops selling mundane repetitive holiday products.

We can recommend the following excursions - scuba diving from the harbour, roughly £40, this lasted 2 hours and was well worth it. We also went on the whale, dolphin turtle watching catamaran, this cost £80, although we didn’t see any Wales or dolphins and a very dubious turtle!!!! But again just for the experience was well worth it.

We also decided to visit correleco on the local bus service, this was an experience in itself! A sort of queue greeted us at the bus stop, when the bus finally showed up, there was a mad scrum, to get on, we couldn’t get on one as it was full ( of people queue jumping) we had to change in the capital del Rosa, and then onto correleco. The bus driver didn’t let us down as he lived up to the stereo typical foreign bus driver.

To top off a lovely holiday there was also a courtesy room, where we showered and changed and didn’t have the normal 8 hour wait after check out, all hot and bothered before flying out.

The negatives were all very small negatives and we would recommend this hotel to anybody

" Having booked a last minute deal with... "

Having booked a last minute deal with fist choice, we were amazed at the complex and the rooms upon arrival, we were taken to our room by the receptionist and the rooms are just brilliant, spacious and cleaned every day.

A one bed roomed apartment was just perfect, for myself and my husband and 2 boys, aged 10 and 5, we ate out every night, and the vast choice of lovely restaurants is amazing, the Mexican and the Chinese Hong Kong were brilliant and good value for money.

The complex its self is ace, with 5 pools and children’s and adults activities and entertainment, have booked again for 2007 for 18 of us for my husband's 40th so be prepared if you are there.

" Our one bedroom apartment was more... "

Our one bedroom apartment was more than adequate. The apartment was kept lovely and clean. Full sized bathroom, including bath, shower, bidet and the obligatory WC and basin. The electric hob was difficult to use and it wouldn't switch off sometimes. We did find it a little noisy between 6-7am with trolleys been pulled back and forth. However, this did not spoil our holiday.

The hotel was in a beautiful spot, very peaceful. Along the rocky coastline, we used to take nuts to feed the chipmunks.

For small children the beach is brilliant. No rough waves and gently shelving sea.
As we were self catering, it is always a bit of a worry when you have small children.

But no problem in Caleta de Fuste, plenty of places to eat (spoilt for choice). Our favourite was the Steak House and the Portuguese restaurant. We ate there many times. Only problem is you need to get to the steak house early, if you do not want to queue. Brilliant place for a quiet family holiday.

" I stayed at the Elba Castillo Antigua... "

I stayed at the Elba Castillo Antigua & Suites for 2 weeks with my children and friend and her children. It was the best, the hotel was second to none.

Maid service every morning, we had the luxury of a sea view which was breath taking first thing in a morning. Transfer from the airport was approx 10 mins.

there are loads of places to eat out and a free bus daily which we took to go to Atlantico, a few miles away with loads of shops and a lovely deserted beach.

We have booked to go back here in Oct(06) and we cant wait...10 out of 10.

" My holiday was absolutely fantastic!... "

My holiday was absolutely fantastic! First after leaving the airport on our ten-minute ride to our hotel, we were allocated our rooms and they were fantastic! The beds were comfy, the sea view was immense, and in case you felt in a boring mood, there were televisions with British channels.

Also I found that the entertainment was really good, as there was something interesting on every night, which ranged from a Halloween disco to a rocky horror picture show spoof! If you are not into that kind of thing, then for about a mile outside the hotel there are chains of fantastic restaurants, ranging from Italian Pizzerias, to steak houses, but by far my favourite was a Chinese restaurant called 'Slow Boat II'. The food was exquisite, the decorations filled the mind with pleasant thoughts and the service was fantastic. If anyone goes to the resort I went to then I would strongly recommend it.

On the last day, my dad and I went scuba diving of the coast of Caleta de Fuste. It was the first time I had ever done it before and it was unbelievable! There are so many fish in the Mediterranean (Atlantic Ocean–ed) that you just can’t see anywhere else and it really finished my holiday on a good note.

After a comfortable flight home I felt like the holiday couldn’t have been any better. Thank you very much.

" I stayed at the San Jorge last year... "

I stayed at the San Jorge last year and just last week returned from the Antigua Y Suites. The hotel is fantastic with plenty to do, staff are extremely helpful and the rooms are well maintained with cleaning going on constantly around the hotel and grounds. The pools were cleaned every morning (all 5 of them). The hotel is approx 6 -7 minutes transfer direct in a taxi from the airport, however, we never had a problem with air traffic noise.

I have already booked for October next year. The apartment is very spacious and on both occasions we had the pleasure of a sea view room - lovely!

Plenty of activity for families young and old but would not recommend for "young and lively" unless looking for watersports - plenty at the harbour just around the corner. Tonnes of nice eating places but did try the food at the hotel and it was fine with lots to choose from, lovely pizzas from Gepettos (on site)

Would highly recommend this holiday.
