On arrival at the Esperos, and after dragging cases up the steep slope the rep. went diving around, then told us that 'He will be here in a minute'. Luckily a family were spending an evening on the patio so we chatted to them for a while, but nobody turned up. Our apartment was 2B; we noticed a 2 so decided to try the door: open with the key in it! Tried to open it further to get the cases in but it was off the runners so had to be lifted.
The fridge was not plugged in so I lifted it to where the wire could reach the socket - it was then that I found out it was full of water which spilled out onto me and the kitchen floor. I realised we were on a D.I.Y. holiday when we found a mop, bucket, brush and pan near our table on the patio (every patio had this selection), which I used, and got things going.
There was no toilet paper - not even 'your starter for one', and when I pulled the door to after coming out, the door handle came off in my hand! Reception - although this is stated twice it is a reception in name only; rarely manned and even rarer by someone with a little English. It is a reception that is not a reception - there is a nice bar there as well - but it is not a bar because it is never open.
The TV didn't work- not a problem as we never watch it on hols anyway - there was no sink plug, no prob, as we only make coffee there, but I did give a thought to the family next door who did some cooking. How did they manage with no kettle and only a two-ring electric hotplate? The steps down one side were steep and I only saw them lit once after dark.
These things we can put up with, but did not like the fact that there were only two small towels that were changed twice a week, or the sheets that were only changed once a week! The cleaner only came once the first week but about three times the second.
Really it was like the first time we ever went to Greece about seventeen years ago (been many times since). Everyone else is moving forward but Esperos seems to be moving backwards.
