Great place
This was our first 'city' hotel after a week hiking deep in rural Spain. We'd finished a walk during an amazing downpour, then driven through incredibly bad weather to reach Jerez. We were feeling in need of some warmth, luxury, space, and I'm sorry to say as the marble bathroom was soooo lovely, somewhere to dry out our wet walking kit. Probably an unusual requirement for a city-centre hotel. We headed for the Tryp based on Tripadvisor reviews, and were bowled over by the kind reception and welcome. It is a pretty impressive,... more
hotel near old town
stayed in this hotel for 2 nights.very avarage inner city hotel. Good breakfast buffet, would also cook eggs, bacon etc on request.Room clean and well equiped.very good coffee in bar.We had problems finding somewhere nearby to eat as there were not very many places in walking distance. we ate at Gaitan but thought it was very avarage. We also ate at the rice restaurant but did not rate that very highly. We had coffee at hotel paliccio garvey(turn right out of hotel ,straight across at traffic lights and it is a little way up that street on the... more
Good Location
OK Hotel, Good loction. Nice buffet bkfst.
Central location
The Tryp Hotel is right in the centre of town and has an underground car park (12 euros a day). We got the room for 53 euros per night, breakfast was another 12 euros each. The location is ideal for sightseeing in Jerez and there are lots of bars round about for late night tapas.
Best Location for Semana Santa
I've stayed here twice and concur with the other reviews about standards of service and comfort. It's worth emphasising its location again though - within easy walking-distance of the town's centre. And if you go to Jerez for Semana Santa (highly recommended) you won't better it... the processions pass right outside the front door and, if you get a room at the front of the hotel, you can watch from your balcony. Also worth seeking out is Restaurant Gaitan, on a side street just around the corner.
Relax in an old Palace
Tryp (part of the Sol Melia chain) turned part of an old palace into this hotel (formerly a bank) in 2003. From the outside, it's a beautiful rustic palace; on the inside, it is designed like a new Tryp. In Spain, Tryp is the standard for four star hotels for the business traveller. No nonsense and very efficient. Not really very romantic, it is a great hotel, clean and efficient. With a very corporate feel to it...dark wood furniture in the rooms, Grohe bathroom fittings and quite airy all round. We went there with a small baby, and... more
Nice Hotel
My mother-in-law and I stayed here for 2 nights. We enjoyed the hotel very much. The room was clean with a fairly large bathroom and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent with a nice array of hot and cold offerings. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was very good. I recommend the chocolate crepes to anyone going. :) They were excellent.
Great Little Hotel
This hotel was very comfortable, clean and well managed. Excellent location with a beautiful square and fountain across the street. The breakfast was really delicious with lots of variety. The only disappointment was that there was no evidence of this being a former palace on the interior as the restoration was evidently not to preserve but to modernize. Highly recommend for anyone.
Good chain hotel
This is a good hotel though with little character. The imposing facade hides a fairly standard chain hotel inside. On the plus side, the fittings are all modern and pleasing. It's just a bit soulless. The town itself is a bit soulless as well.
Recommended
March 2004. We were a pair of retired independent travellers on a four night mini-break. The  Tryp Jerez hotel is in the centre of Jerez De La Frontera (commonly shortened to Jerez). There were plenty of shops and restaurants/bars within easy walking distance. It is about 10km from Jerez airport and a  14 taxi ride. It is part of the  Tryp chain. The front of the hotel was a very old impressive building (apparently a palace). Behind the facade is a newish building with large reception combined with a lounge, small restaurant and... more
