Just got back from a 2 week holiday to Parque Santiago IV apartment complex. Usually go all-inclusive but decided to try self catering. What a mistake - I will never do that again. The prices were ridiculous for ice-creams and juices. Don't get me wrong the apartment and... more

I thought the only downfall of the hotel was the food. It was rather repetitive but we didn’t have any problems with sun beds, we got up at 9.30 every morning and always found a good sunbed which was in sun and shade during the day . The animation team were fantastic, I... more

Absolutely brilliant
I have stayed at this hotel twice, once in 2002 and once in 2003. My family and I never usually go to a hotel more than once but this one we are about to go to for the third time! I would say this is the best holiday I have ever been to and would recommend it to anyone I know. It is great for the children as there is plenty to do and the complex is a very safe place, also there is a fantastic water park directly opposite the hotel. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and kind. The pool is kept very clean and the rooms are also kept to a very high standard. I do not have a bad word to say about this place.
Staff are wonderful
Arrived here in the early hours of the morning. (20th October). Straight away I was amazed how beautiful the hotel really was. We really enjoyed our stay at esperides. Staff were so polite and friendly, and the hotels maids were the best ever!!! Our room was serviced everyday, and the maids always did a brill job. Animation team were o.k, but more for the older children. They didnt seem to encourage the little ones to go along with them. We were a little dissapointed with the beach, as it stated in the brochure that it was sandy, and it wasnt it was shingle. Food wasnt too good, as there wasnt much variety, and it was very rarely hot. Overall we had a really good holiday here, and hope to go again in a few years time when the kids are a little bit older
Fabulous holiday!
Just returned from 14 night holiday. Hotel was great - standard of cleanliness was excellent, food was plentiful and varied but best of all was the fantastic animation team who worked tirelessly all day to provide guests with an extremely high and professional standard of entertainment and activities. We became good friends with many of them and look forward to seeing them again once their season in Rhodes is finished. Would definitely recommend this hotel which was in a nice position in this lovely island.
Brilliant
Absolutely fantastic-everything on site!Waterpark a short walk away.Pool did not seem crowded because the garden area was vast.We want to go back next year!
excellent family resort
We came back from Esperides this morning, had a great time, hotel lovely and clean although we were in the family block and it does need a lick of paint, refurb is aparently oct, but still clean and everything worked. Did not see our kids for most of the time only for euros for bumper cars and to buy stuff in the supermarket, The words 'mum can i have another euro' are embedded on my brain. Staff very friendly and helpful, food was great. We stayed 11 nights and ate out a couple of times but only for a change of scenery. Would reccommend it to people with young families. Although next year will be all inclusive and through experience this does tend to change a hotel? We shall see. We will be returning.
Wonderful hotel - would go back tomorrow
This hotel was everything I had hoped it would be and more. 6 of us (62,56,34,34,10,8) travelled with Portland for 14 nights. We hadn't been able to book a sea view room through them, so after our first night overlooking the hills and Esperos Village complex behind us (which was fine, but we wanted to overlook the sea) we paid €12 per night to have sea view rooms - ours overlooked the pools which was wonderful. The room was nice with comfortable beds, power shower, fridge and full size TV (CNN, Euro News and Sky Sports in english). The rooms were cleaned to a high standard and linen and towels were clean daily. The food was Good quality (not as much choice as other 4*s we have stayed in, but we all ate well including a vegetarian and two fussy kids). The food was varied throughout the stay and fresh and hot. The facilities were amazing - the pools and the hotel were very clean. The children had their own fairground (dogems, carousel, bouncy castle etc) plus two waterslides (which they used regularly). The staff were very helpful and really helped to make our stay - in fact all the people we met on the island were wonderful. The most amazing were the Animation Team. They worked endlessly to ensure everyone enjoyed their stay with games and activities through the day to professional shows on an evening - especially the fire show and grease - these should not be missed. The hotel is approximately 30 minutes walk from Faliraki, or 5 minutes on the bus from outside the hotel, which cost €1 adults 50c children. At the nearer side of faliraki (by a shopping centre) is a small complex Sam's Bar and studios with a beautiful pool and waterslides, pool table, darts and video games. Sam offers good food and drink at a very reasonable price (1/2 litre Amstel €2) and is very friendly with lots of info on the island. We spent a few afternoons here. It was very relaxing and the kids (big and small had fun on the slides). It's well worth a visit - please say hi to sam from Chelsea and Ryan from England (my kids). We hope to go back to see him in a couple of years. Another place worth a visit (apart from the obvious Lindos and Rhodes town which were both amazing) is as you walk over the headland from the hotel towards Kalithea the first bay you come to around the corner is great. There is a sign down to Nicolas Beach Cantina. There are sunbeds on the beach and rock with lovely warm pools of water plus access over the rocke to the deeper water in the bay. There is a swing, slide and see-saw in the shallow water and swings on the beach. The cliff gives shadow to the beach in the afternoon hich is great for the kids. The cantina offers excellent food and refreshment and the owners are very friendly. The only minus points to the hotel are the beach outside is shingle/pebble and really disappointing compared to some of the Spanish beaches we are used to - although a few seconds dash over them takes you into wonderful swimming water for a much needed cool down (my thermometer went over 50 several days), and the lack of a prom to stroll along as the hotel is a walk out of town was disappointing. Neither of these points spoiled our holiday in any way. We would return to the hotel in a flash. If you have the chance to go please do - I doubt anyone would be disappointed. All in all a wonderful hotel, great island, friendly people and superb weather - saw only one teeny tiny cloud in two weeks when we went on a boat trip to Rhodes. Amazing time.
Nice Hotel
Nice hotel, right on the beach, we paid extra for the sea view which gave us some beautiful sunrises. Nightmare to get a sunbed around the pool as the German guests were putting towels out at 3am!!! We used to use the sister hotel facilities next door which had a much nicer pool, a lazy river and no sunbed problem! Facilities for the kids were very good as they had their own playground and water slides (small charge payable for the dodgems, merry-go-round and large water slide) Beach is shingle so dive shoes are a good idea for the kids (and adults!) they can be bought very cheaply in the hotel shop, in fact they are cheaper there than at home! Entertainment (day and night) is very good, the entertainment team work very hard to ensure everyone has a good time. Food is very good and plentiful although a bit repetetive (lots of pasta and salad for dinner) We had no complaints about the food at all and didn't get one upset stomach. The rooms were fairly spacious with air conditioning and a fridge at no extra charge! although you need your door key to operate the electricity in the room so when you leave to go out for the day it switches off the fridge although the air con stays on so your room is nice and cool when you return. The weather is very hot in August and suprisingly windy. Soon realised that the big grey stones in plentiful supply near the sunbeds were to keep your towel on the bed when you weren't lying on it. Rhodes town (old and new) and Lindos worth a visit. We used the local buses which were cheap and very punctual! Wish the London buses ran so well! The bus to Lindos is air conditioned and costs 3 euros each way, bargain considering the taxi cost 29 euros each way! All in all a nice holiday which I would recommend to families.
A great family hotel
The Esperides is a wonderful family hotel which caters for the needs of all ages. It's rooms are spotless and the grounds very well maintained. There is a large restaurant, 2 poolside bars, a large bar just off the main foyer and a well stocked, reasonably priced supermarket. There are two pools one free form and the other large and rectangular. We spent very little time around the pool as the sunbeds seemed a little close together. There was the usual 'towels on sunbed' situation going on and I believe people were 'reserving' their sunbeds the night before by placing towels on them. The hotel is situated directly next to the beach where you can get 2 sunbeds and a parasol without cost but if you want a mattress for the beds they are 5 euros a day for the pair. We chose the same spot everyday and had no difficulty getting a sunbed in the morning. The beach is shingly which was disappointing initially but we soon realised everyone wore dive shoes when swimming which you could buy at the hotel, mine cost 7 euros. The shoes made all the difference and I swam in the sea everyday. The beach is sandy close to the hotel and there is wooden decking from the hotel to the middle of the beach and running the length of the beach with showers at regular intervals. I think there are 5 large hotels which all have direct access to the beach and the sunbeds in front of each hotel are for the use of their clientele only. There are also a variety of cafes/bars dotted along the beach where you can sit in the shade and watch the world go by. There is a small jetty situated on the beach in front of the hotel from which you can take boat trips to Lindos, Faliraki and Rhodes Town. There are also the usual watersports on offer. The food at the hotel was good and there was something on offer to suit all nationalities and tastes. As with most 2 week holidays we found that by the second week we were needing a change so ate out a couple of times however, this is not a reflection on the quality of the food served. The staff were superb from the reception, to cleaners, bar and restaurant staff nothing was too much trouble. The animation team worked so hard to provide entertainment and activities to suit all ages. The shows they put on in the evenings were the best I have seen at any resort. Rhodes is a beautiful island and the holiday far exceeded our expectations. There is so much to see and Rhodes Old Town is it's jewel. We came back from this holiday far more relaxed than any other and we have booked to return in July 2006. The hotel is offering an all inclusive option next year.
You have to go there
I have just come back from the esperides beach hotel. I went from 10th-24th August 2005. The esperides beach hotel is suitable for all ages. The animation team is amazing at the moment, it includes; Lorenzo the main one, Ricky the crazy one, Luca who does the scenery, Serina the Funny girl, Francesca who does all aerobics with Pretrisha, Regina the mini club girl, Steven and Chris the main sport animators and the DJ. The animation team is the best i've ever had. I have been to the hotel every other year since 2001 they have all been great years. If you are looking for a hotel to go with kids it provides kids club, slides, lots of activities, pools and whatever you want this place has it!! If you are looking for a hotel as a family there is lots to do you can laze a round at the pool, snorkelling at the beach, water sports at the beach, go to the waterpark up the road, the list is endless!! If you want to hire a car the hotel has a rent a car company on the hotel grounds and also some more rent a car companies down the road. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, nice and kind. My best bit was just staying at the pool, lazing around, joining in with the animation team and their games. I have had so much fun there and i can't wait to go again soon.
