Good experience
Access from the main road to the resort is via quite a long steep hill, so if you're walking then you'll need to be reasonably fit. We stayed in room 808 which is a 2 bedroomed villa with private infinity pool. Fantastic privacy and uninterrupted views to the sea. 2 very large bedrooms and a good sized living area. We only ate there a couple of times but the food and service were fine. We like authentic Thai food (very hot and spicy) but were disappointed that every meal seemed to be tempered for a Western palate. We ate better... more
Superb Relaxation Destination
Just a great place to stay - so relaxing. We were on our honeymoon and the facilities at Peninsula are first rate. The staff are the friendliest I have experienced anywhere - whilst struggling with English - they are so helpful. The pool is a highlight as is the Day Spa. We spent almost all of our time by the pool on the sunbeds rather than on the beach below. The view is superb and the bar and food by the poool is great and good value by western standards. Rooms are clean and nicely appointed - we stayed in a deluxe... more
Beautiful view, nice staff but the location is not very convenient
Samui Peninsula is a big resort that's located on a steep hill, it's quite a bit of exercise walking back to the rooms (my room was located on the top of the hill and unfortunately the room had no view, the view from my balcony were just trees...) but they do offer golf carts that takes you to your room. The hotel has a nice endless pool which is absolutely beautiful and the staffs were very very nice (although they might not be good as speaking English, but they try their best to help). The biggest problem I had was that the hotel... more
Beautiful setting-could be disappointing for some
We stayed at the Peninsula in Sept 2006. We'd read several poor reviews on this hotel, but considering that the accommodation was a gift, we thought we'd make the most of it. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival as the hotel was quite nice. There were beautiful views overlooking the water, however, the hotel beach was pretty much non existant. You had to walk about 5mins to get to a beach that was decent enough to swim in. The hotel staff, while being very pleasant, were very hard to communicate with. There weren't a great deal... more
Airport Hotel Service at 5-Star Prices
Having stayed at many of the world's leading hotels, I had high expectations of the Samui Peninsula Hotel & Spa. For starters, we called ahead to check if our room was ready, as we were planning to arrive early. The manager on duty said we could come anytime and she looked forward to meeting us. So about an hour later, we showed up only to be told check-in was at 14:00 (we arrived at 10:45). Being dissapointed, we dined at the highly acclaimed Royal Siam Resteraunt, and received terrible service, terrible food at unreasonably high... more
Peninsula Hotel
Just stayed a week there and it's a dog of a hotel. The sheets are part nylon so you wake up in a sweat. The toilets backed up twice....... Never any towels buy the pool. Staff attention is lacking but friendly... just a case of a very badly managed property. Anyone staying should avoid a "Club House Room" as these have no stand up showers and have no money spent on them since the 1970's. At least they were pleasant when we asked to change rooms. NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY after looking about. Cheers Bryan
First time Samui
Stayed at the hotel for one week, having stayed in chewang for the first week. We were placed at the top of the hill which is a bit of a hike, but keeps the pounds down a little bit from all that drinking when on Holiday. Swimming Pool nice down by the front of the Hotel and found the ongoing construction not noisy at all, even tho i known about it from reports of people on the Net.Beach is poor and does need a clean up around and along to the next beach which is more busy, but again prices are fixed higher than chewang .it's a little up... more
Most disappointing hotel
As a party of four we stayed at the hotel for little over a week. Initially, we were quite enthused by the the spa, its looks & views and the location but it soon turned to worse. The hotel is located off the beaten track which ensures that it remains quiet. It alls means you will not get away as easily and will be time consuming. Generally, the hotel appears to be a work in progress and much of it remains unfinished with constant construction works going on despite it being in business for a few years now. The hotel does not have a... more
Paradise on earth
Date:21/9/2006 Reviewer: Tripadvisor Member from Greece. We are still at the resort. My english are not so good but I must tell everybody that this resort must be on the top list of Samui's "heaven on earth" places, at very affordable rates. Me and my wife are having a wonderfull week here (we check out tomorrow at 17:00 without any extra cost). You must see it to believe it. The location is absolutely wonderfull and you always feel private. It is only 5 minutes by car from the Chaweng Beach but far away from the noise and... more
Still remains something to be made better
I have also seen many negative comments about this resort, but I felt not so bad an impression about the resort although there are some to be improved. The room we stayed was a pool villa, where the view of the sea is excellent (but I think many of other rooms or villas cannot enjoy this good see view) and whose interior design was better than I expected. Since guests of other villas which should share the semi-private pool with us seldom used it, we could almost enjoy it just like a private pool and it was a lot of fun to bathe in the... more
