An excellent choice
from AZFan
We stayed for 5 nights in early September in a double room, facing the back and had a very good stay. Our internet rate on their website was considerably cheaper than the posted rates. Yes, we missed air condioning, but kept the windows open all night (3rd floor) and the fan going. The breakfast was super, with a wait staff that puts American restaurant service to shame. The location as others have mentioned, was so helpful. We picked up some grocery needs at the stores in Paddington station and kept them in our room refrigerator. Check out...

I miss you, Darlington!
from offtolondon
What can I say - I loved it! It went beyond my expectations. The pictures on the web don't do the place justice. It really felt like home away from home! I arrived in early morning, but wasn't able to check-in until around 1:00 pm or so. They let me store my suitcase while I walked around for 4 hours. No big deal since I always enjoy strolling through Hyde Park and exploring the Paddington area. I was somewhat disappointed that I was not offered anything to drink or a seat in reception - especially since the clerk knew I had a...

Very Good – soundproofing could be a little better
from Len_Angus
Stayed for one night in a twin bedded room on 18 November 2004, mainly because of good reviews on this site. We've had so many disappointments with London hotels in the past. Very security conscious – friendly receptionists. Twin room excellent – plenty room – larger than normal beds. Tea and coffee-making facilities, trouser press. Large bathroom. Very clean. Good English breakfast – seemed freshly prepared. Only a couple of things prevented us from giving it 5 stars – soundproofing from bedroom above could have been...

Lovely Hotel at a Convenient Location
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this lovely hotel with my wife from November 11 to 15, 2004 Location: Excellent - Wheel your luggage directly from the Heathrow Express! Close to 4 tube lines (paddington -3 and Lancaster Gate - 1) Can get to anywhere in London without any problems Rooms: Reasonable sized rooms - large by London standards. Very nice and comfortable beds. Ensuite bathrooms are big with good ventilation. Good housekeeping with spotless large towels (replaced everyday) Breakfast: Hot english breakfast made-to-order in a nice room with...

What a find!
from A TripAdvisor Member
I needed a hotel at short notice for a business trip and would normally choose somewhere bigger than the Darlington. However as a recent convert to the Tripadvisor web site I found the Darlington and was impressed by the reviews it had been given. I was not disappointed. I found the hotel ticked all the boxes - immaculately clean, in an excellent state of repair (in my view this is where many of the larger hotels fall down. Whilst their public areas are well kept that does not extend to the rest of the hotel!), friendly and very helpful...

Quality, Comfort and Tranquillity at the Darlington
from Pedantic
I chose the Darlington for my 3 night stay in London in late October with my 6 year old son because of the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. I wasn't disappointed and wholeheartedly agree with all the positive reviews about this hotel. The Darlington offers a high degree of comfort in a medium sized hotel. Our twin bedded room was pleasantly furnished and plenty big enough for the two of us. The TV was small and the channels confusing but who wants to watch TV when there is so much to do in London? There was a room safe,...

OK but not in hot weather
from A TripAdvisor Member
We had five nights at the Darlington in September, in an executive room which was still quite small. Whilst we found the rooms clean and the staff very helpful, our stay was spoiled by the very hot nights. We had a fan which did little to help, and the rooms' windows were small. Yes the breakfasts were very good, and the central location excellent, but we would advise staying there only during cooler months. Lastly the hotel has no parking whatsover, and ever stopping our hire car to unpack caused major problems.
Good, but not greaet.

I booked one night in a single room because I needed to be near the Heathrow express for an early morning departure. While the website showed 95 pounds as the all-inclusive rate, I was given a rate of 75 pounds over the phone. Perhaps it was because the room was exceedingly small -- more like a cell than a room, with only a single bed. It was very, very clean, and located in the back, so it was quite quiet. The bathroom, with a sink the size of a large cafe au lait cup, and a smaller than phone booth shower, was really miniscule. It had...

Excellent choice
from A TripAdvisor Member
Having stayed in this area before, but in a very tired hotel, I followed the recommendations of TripAdvisor users and booked the Darlington. I am very happy I did. Its proximity to Paddington with its Heathrow Express, take-out stands and two, count 'em two, supermarkets..with lots of choices...well, need I say more? The cleanliness, the super breakfast (of which I ate far more than was good for me), the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff were just as reported. This was during a very warm/hot spell in early September, and...
