Dionysos Hotel

It was a great holiday. One of the best we had. Hotel is just great. Great staff, very clear, food great. The beach is also close and nice. It is windy but I would warmly recommend that be-cause there is no wind on the other side of the island and it is simply too warm. This wind is exactly you need at the beach. The hotel is close to the Rhodes city… Only 10 min drive with a local bus that costs 3.50 euros. You want a great holiday… go to Rhodes and stay in Dionysos.

Spent a lovely relaxing week at this hotel in September 2006 - we did hire a car for the week which we would absolutely recommend as although Ixia as a resort is nice enough, it was pretty quiet and it was nice to be able to see the island - The hotel was about 100 meters from the nearest beach, but the best beaches in Rhodes are definitely mostly on the eastern side of the island which wasn't a problem by car. Rhodes Town is only about a 10 minute drive away and Faliraki is about 20 minutes, and Lindos (which is beautiful and must be seen!) is around one hour away. The hotel has plenty of parking space so that is certainly not a problem. The staff in the hotel were ok, mostly friendly but very businesslike particularly reception but that was fine with us. Rooms were very nice, fairly large and clean, we had a huge balcony as we were on the corner overlooking the pool which was a bonus, the only problem we had was the terrible airconditioning - it literally would not work no matter how many times we tried, this was such a shame as the room got terribly hot and we had to resort to opening the balcony door overnight which was a bit of a worry. The only other issue (and we really hate to say it, but...) there weren't many other brits there, it seemed to be a very popular hotel with other europeans - swedes, germans, spanish in particular - but had a distinct lack of brits, guess they were all in Faliraki! Obviously not a major issue, but amazingly after a couple of days we did begin to miss hearing a bit of english spoken around us (I know, I know!!) The pool area was really lovely and had definitely attracted us to the hotel when booking on Expedia and it didn't disappoint. The pool was huge, like a lagoon and plenty of room for serious swimmers and children alike and the swim up bar was a great addition too. All in, it was a great holiday in a lovely hotel (with very minor niggles) and absolutely recommended - particularly Lindos which is stunning - be sure to have a meal in one of the rooftop restaurants which all compete to see who can be the highest. Its magical watching the sunset, you won't be disappointed!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Dionysos Hotel, at Ixia in Rhodes. -The hotel was very pretty with a magical pool and beautiful gardens. -The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. -Our bedrooms were standard garden view rooms but they had a nice view including a view of the ocean. When the air conditioner in our room broke down, the hotel went out of their way to resolve the problem offering us another room to sleep in while our room was being fixed so that we would not have to move our clothes. -The breakfast was very attractivly served in a sunny breakfast room with wonderful views. -The pool side restaurant had good salads etc...the diningroom was not as good (and was a bit expensive) but there were lots of tavernas within a short walk. -In the evening there were fun shows suitable for the family. -The hotel is not on the beach but the beach (pebble) is very close...perhaps a 3 min walk at the most. We preferred the pool though because the water was a bit rough when we were there. -The hotel is about 15 min from town ...just a short cab ride but there are also many shops and tavernas within a 10 min. walk of the hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Dionysos for three days in June 2007. Overall, we found the hotel to be quite good and very reasonably priced ($100 USD night, including breakfast). The staff spoke English and were very attentive. The hotel is in good shape (built in the early 1970's), and the rooms are large but not fancy. The hotel has a sign in the room that indicates the beds are of the highest quality, however I suspect it was put there by management after receiving complaints from guests about how hard the mattresses are. The bathrooms are small, basic, and functional. One aspect of the rooms that Americans (and probably others)will find disconcerting is that some of the room doors lock with a key from BOTH the inside and the outside. This is a potential saftey problem, especially if you travel with children. If there was an emergency that required evacuation you better hope the keys in the door or you won't be going anywhere until its located. The TV was small but had a good variety of stations, and lets face it, if your on the island of Rhodes you won't be in your room much. The pool area was great. Its very large with plenty of pool chairs (bring your own beach towels), but umbrellas are scarce. A swim up bar makes getting a drink quick and easy. The food and the service in the bar and restuarants was above average and resonably priced.

I stayed in the Dionysos Hotel for four days in July, 2006. The hotel room was a bit on the basic side, but airy and comfortable. There was a large double bed and an additional sofabed (unfortuantely no rooms with two twin beds were available). There was also an additional small sitting area within the room. The balcony faced the water but only had a partial view, as the mammoth Rodos Palace Hotel was in the way. Other rooms have a view of the hotel's garden and the hills behind the hotel. The bathroom was of a decent size and was clean, and the rooms were cleaned daily. The air conditioning worked quite well. The television featured a large variety of local and satellite stations. There was a slight lack of power outlets in the room we stayed in. Breakfast was good. The dining area wasn't very cool, but it was large and the selection of food was very good, and the food was fresh. There were eggs, toast, bacon, sausages, cold cuts, cereals, cheese, fruit, cakes, fresh-baked breads, and more. The place could get crowded during peak times, however. The staff in reception was very friendly and accommodated all of our requests and the lobby/reception area was clean and comfortable. There was a large pool and plenty of sunbeds and chairs all around, a souvlaki stand, a snack bar, and another restaurant downstairs, which had Greek and international cuisine and was pretty good. There was live Greek music and dancing one evening and the bar was pretty lively at night. The hotel offered internet service in a small alcove next to the lobby, on brand-new PCs. Cards to access the internet could be purchased at the reception desk at a somewhat steep rate (it was 4 Euro for an hour if I'm not mistaken). The hotel also featured a small mini-supermarket and gift shop, and amenities such as a tennis court. There was a parking lot off to the rear and there never was any problem finding a space to park our rental. The hotel was about 100 meters from the nearest beach, and one has to cross a fairly busy street to get there. However, the best beaches in Rhodes are mostly on the eastern side of the island. Getting to those beaches isn't too difficult by car. Rhodes Town is only about a 10 minute drive away, and Faliraki is about 20 minutes, while Lindos is around one hour by car. Overall I had a very positive experience here and would definitely consider staying again.

My wife and i stopped for a week in june great weather ,spottless hotel , breakfast food average, night meals in hotel good. We were the only british there but everybody ok.If your after a nice quite chill out this is the one for you.

We stayed (me and my husband) in this hotel 2002. I have only good things to say about the hotel. Fantastic pool, nice room, good breakfast and lovely breakfast room. The garden around the hotel is also absolutely beautiful. The hotel it self is a great choice. But if you are a younger couple or a young group of people looking for entertainment Ixia it self is a complete dead spot. You will have to pay for taxis into Rhodes town, it is not far, but still another cost for you. Didn’t think the beach around Ixia was to great ether so we stayed mostly around the great pool at the hotel. So, Hotel Dionysos – great, Ixia – bad for nightlife and choices of pubs and bars.

We stayed at the Dionysos in June last year. We were happy to arrive after several flights, coming from the US. (We were the ONLY Americans at the hotel- lots of Europeans, a few Greek tourists) We wanted somewhere to get over the jetlag and relax before really starting to "tour". This hotel was a good choice. It has a huge pool, at which we spent a lot of time....although getting chairs can be a little difficult if you're not out there early. The hotel is a little overrun with the under 12 set so the pool can get a little loud/obnoxious. If you have kids, however, this is an ideal place! This hotel is not on the beach. You can walk a couple blocks to get to the beach, but it didn't look very nice (I think the nicer beaches are at the other end of the island.) Rooms are a little dated but we had a good view out our glass door. We had a corner room so we had a big balcony. The one complaint about the rooms was that the hotel hadn't turned on the A/C yet. They apparently don't turn it on till a certain date each summer and we were too early. It was, however, plenty hot to require A/C, especially for sleeping at night. This was our biggest disappointment because we would toss and turn in a hot room every night. The food at the hotel is very good. Breakfast is pretty standard but lunch and dinner were quite good and very reasonably priced. Drinks were also not very expensive. There are a few restaurants that are a long walk (20 minutes) or short cab ride away. There's also a little store at the end of the hotel drive where you could buy beer, pop and snacks. Each night the hotel has some kind of entertainment in the lobby, whether it be live music or local/cultural dancers. The hotel is about a 10 minute cab ride to the Old Town- go on a non-cruise ship day if you help it.

Although i wasn't impressed with Ixia, I can only fault the hotel on 2 minor points: 1. no pool towels are provided 2. irons are not allowed in the rooms, nor does the hotel provide a room for ironing. You can either smuggle your own travel iron in, which you will receive the death penalty according to the warnings in the rooms!! or use the hotels dry cleaning service for 10 gold bars. i personaly borrowed an iron from a friend staying down the road and smuggled it in under the cover of darkness! The pool area is very nice and clean and even during bank holiday weekend the pool was half empty with no problem in getting sun beds. This may be down to the mix of guests using the hotel, most were Scandanavian, Greek or German, with about 10 per cent English. I ate in the hotel twice, once in the cafe, which was on par in quality and price with the restaurants along the strip and then at the little kiosk which serves cheap gyros. I had friends staying at the Rhodian Amethus (sp!! it was a couple of months ago) and the pool areas were much nicer in the Dionysos. Room sizes were about the same, just the furnishings a little nicer in the Rhodian which you'd expect for being a 5 star. Air conditionaing worked fine, there was a sofa bed and also a fair size balcony. Breakfast was adequate, nothing flash. There are shower facilities near reception which can be used after check out, towels are provided and there's a left luggage room as well. i had no problem with taxi's. They will order them from reception for you, you can't pre book but that's not a problem as they just ring the rank up down the road and they'll be along in 5 mins. It's only 1 euro more for them to pick you up at the hotel and all taxi fares are fixed and displayed at the ranks so there should be no issue of being ripped off. It's literally 5 mins in a cab (or a good hours walk) to old Rhodes town, which is worth visiting a few times, both at night and day. If you are after a bit of nightlife, bar st is worth a walk down in Rhodes town. We went over to Faliraki for one night, don't bother it is like a ghost town since the police cracked down and 18-30 and other operators pulled out. it was far busier on the bar st in Rhodes, and a better atmosphere. In short, the Dionysos is a good, clean hotel, about 3 stars, UK standard, maybe pushing 4 stars because of the pool area and gardens. The best option for the price.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in Sept 06 and had a wonderful time, great location, great facilities, great staff. Could not fault the service or hotel. We also took our 11 month old baby and were able to leave him in the rooms (with baby monitor) whilst we went to the pool. The maids kept an eye on him for us and the staff were always helping us with things like steralising bottles etc. The waiters were second to none and assisted with everything. All together the staff made the holiday for us and we would highly recommend this to anyone.
