Tepi Sawah Villas & Spa

I spent 2 weeks in Bali, the first with Thomas Tarigan, a local guide and he booked this hotel for me whilst we were in Ubud. Good choice, Thomas!! After spending a few days traveling in the North of the island, this seemed like paradise - amazing garden walkways (as in 'watered three times a day, orchids, palm s, little lanterns, stone carvings' amazing). Tepi Sawah Villas is an ocean of tranquility, 10 min away by car from bustling Ubud. They offer free pickup and drop by car from 9 am to 10pm, so the distance is not a problem. The ambience is superb. traditional heritage balinese look, very beatiful green environment.... see pics.. the service is very friendly and efficient, the food is excellent, the price is very reasonable for a hotel of that quality.. what more can one ask for?. We stayed at the Tepi Sawah having booked it through Asiarooms.com, and we were not disappointed. Beautiful boutique resort hotel, friendly and helpful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. We stayed here in the middle of our stay, having been in Kuta for 4 nights. It is a little way out of Ubud, but the free shuttle bus all day and night makes that a non-issue really. We stayed at three hotels during our recent trip to Bali, and the Tepi Sawah was our favorite! The rooms are large, nicely decorated with local art, the bathroom is equally large with nice amenities (and a bathtub full of flowers on our first night!). Our room had a safe and robes and slippers were provided to us. the staff and service at Tepi Sawah were absolutely world class, and rivaled that of a 5 star resort, with personal touches that made you feel especially wlecome. stayed in kuta for 6 days then to tepi sawah. all I can say is that the location on the edge of the rice fields is perfect. the villas are second to none , the service is excellent with free transport into ubud and return on request. plenty of opportunites to walk around ubud, only downside was it seemed to close down about 11pm, othewise great.

We only returned from Bali this week, so our review is fresh from our experiences. Tepi Sawah was a fantastic place to begin experiencing Indonesia. The rooms are minimalist, but not to a degree that does not give warmth. The bathrooms on the first floor are great, with the indoor/outdoor thing going on (beautifully done). AC worked well. Our service was excellent, attentive, kind, happy, and genuinely pleased with pleasing us. although the location is not close to central ubud (5-10 min away by car), just about everything else about tepi sawah was very good. the service was very friendly and helpful, the room in the villa was very nice (especially the modern bathroom), the comp breakfast worth paying for. the whole time there, it was very quiet and the beautiful garden setting relaxing - definitely a welcome change of pace from kuta! no endless pool overlooking the rice paddies, but a very nice pool regardless. transportation is provided from the airport/kuta but... more

What a place, we never expected such a nice quiet place even after seeing the photos submitted by other readers. We had just come from Lipah Bay near Amed, needless to say it was pretty underdeveloped...Ubud came as shock to us, so many tourists..Luckily, Tepi was so relaxing, everyone there so kind, it was such a pleasure just to hang out by the pool and read our books. The food was really good too, and not pricey. We actually added tine to our stay there! The shuttle bus is a must, you can leg it to town if you want but so much easier... more

We stayed at the Tepi Sawah Villas and Spa for five nights. It's defnitely one of the most beautifully designed hotels I have seen. The moment you walk in, the serenity of the place takes over. The hotel is small with just about 10-12 Balinese-style rooms set amidst lovely tropical gardens. Since we booked late during the busy season, we managed to get only the Batuan villa with twin beds. Totally agree with previous reviews. I stayed in this hotel in August 2007 and really had a great time. Relaxing atmosphere, great staff, free shuttles to Ubud center at any time, nice pool and rice paddies views on rooms terrace. You have really a great value for your money around 50$ breakfast included. The room was spotless and cleaned twice a day. I would definitely come back.
