Swiss-Garden Resort & Spa

After staying in Kuala Lumpur this was the perfect end to our holiday, 7 days in a great property. Service was amazing, were greeted by staff every time we walked past reception, the tour desk and great service by restaurant staff who would even stop and chat on their way past. Stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and never thought I'd return. It was drab and needed upgrading. Well a couple of months ago, our office booked a trip and to my surprise, the hotel has had a make-over and it's really quite swish now. The room which we stayed in was excellent with cool modern decor and the restaurants have been upgraded. Love this place...especially the pool which is 30 seconds from the beach. Stayed here October 2006 for one night before going to Lake Kenyir. Then back again for another night in same room! Had a prob with the flush on the toilet which was rapidly fixed. We then had a bad experience on Tioman and quickly rang to book back in again for 2 nights here. They happily welcomed us back! Our room had lovely views over the pool and the sea. Good breakfast and restaurant meals and a lovely chap singing in the bar. Definitely would recommed this one.

Having read several negative reports about the Swiss Garden Hotel at Kuantan, I must admit to having had some fears of trepidation when, with my wife and two grown-up offspring, we set out for our holiday there over the period 2nd - 15th Sept 2006 These fears were totally unjustified. We booked a package for the garden view room but when we reached there, we found that the garden view was facing the carpark. The view was really very bad, so we wanted to upgrade to a seaview but was told that the seaview rooms are fully booked for our stay (Sat-Mon) which was weird as it was a low season period and it is a big hotel. I had a great time due to the helpful staff and ample amenities. The pool and small fitness center was well maintained and staffed. The room was large, the bed also, and housekeeping was attentive to requests. The bathroom could use an update, but that is a minor quibble. The rate included breakfast, which was always quite tasty and serve-yourself. No comments from staff about my stack of empty plates at the table, which was refreshing considering the usual sarcasm I get from the "starvation squads" at hotels. I stayed in the family room as there were 5 of us. It was comfortable but it will be perfect if it had another attached bathroom/toilet. We love the pool and the beach, staff are friendly and helpful. I was happy that my breakfast was not bombarded by any houseflies and room service was prompt.

I had a memorable experience at this resort. The beach was clean, the sand was fine and it is much, much better than the much-talked about beach in Cherating. Food was delicious and service was friendly. The room is extremely spacious and its one of the biggest rooms I have ever seen in any hotels. Found a lot of negative comments on the net but I personally found these comments untrue and not accurate at all. I had a good and time and will definitely return.

Give this one a big miss if it's on your schedule. The facilities are bare, there isn't much to do (pictures are deceptive), and the service is the worst I have experienced to date. I was discriminated against for reasons I won't go into, and management didn't lift a finger. Silly hotel workers cared more about their own peace of mind (I was actually told this). Only two workers there impressed me, but that wasn't enough to influence my overall opinion of staff service. The rooms are nice, but the bathroom is small and needs renovating.... more

Impressive facade, beautiful surroundings and right on the beach. Service is polite and courteous, but like a lot of Asian customer service, the smiles and nods are because they can't help you, won't help you, don't understand how to help you, or have no influence at all in helping you. The food is really quite nice, but portions tended to be small. The seafood buffet, however, was superb, so stick to the buffets if possible.
