Southernmost Hotel

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in the middle of our 2 weeks in Florida. We arived in torrential rain and hoped to check in early. The receptionist didnt even look up, but just told us to come back at 2.30! I asked how to find Mallory Square etc to get a bite to eat, to which the receptionist (again without looking up) pointed out of reception; and that was our introduction ! When we got in we asked for a fridge. 3 fridges (and around 30 hours) later a fridge arrived that had been built within the last 10 years. The room was basic... more

This was our first time in the Keys so we relied on internet and guidebook descriptions which were pretty accurate for Southernmost. Check-in was a bit of a hassle, they had a lot of people that had checked out that day so our room wasn't ready. The manager did comp us a drink from the Tiki bar so that made the hour long wait a bit more manageable. We had a king room w/ balcony. Southern Most is the best loaction for riding bicycles to and from Duvall activities. The room was super clean, staff very nice and helpful, has bicycles, scooters for rent and across the street. You don't need a car but a scooter or bike is a must unless walking 1 mile each way is good. Although we will not go back to Keywest due to the lack of any beaches worth mentioning, we would definitely recommend this hotel for 3 nights.

Stayed at Southernmost Hotel for my friend's bachelorette party in Key West. When we arrived and checked in, I was informed by the staff that I was required to pay the balance of my reservations BEFORE they would give me the keys to the rooms. I travel plenty- and NEVER have encountered this stupid policy before. Keep in mind- I had already payed my deposit charge (one night room rate + tax for EACH room reserved). Just got baack from Key West Southern Most on the Beach. Southern Most is a nice hotel. The beds are very nice as other reviewers have noted. The beach on the other hand is very disapointing!! If you go to Key West be prepared to walk or ride a moped/bicycle everywhere. If you are looking for a nice Florida BEACH vacation I can not recommend Key West. I would have been satisfied with a one day tour and left. The drive down Highway 1 from Key Largo is beautiful.

This hotel is located at the western end of Duvall Street and also owns 2 sister properties that face the ocean. Staying at any of the properties also gives you access to any of the prperties common areas i.e bar, pools, etc. This hotel has 2 pools and though not overly big, it is a nice setup with a tiki bar situated pool side that is open through the day with drinks and some food available. Just had to write to say how excellent this hotel is. In my view its the best in key west. I travelled with Virgin holidays who offer really good rates including flights for this hotel. Its at the end of Duval which is the main street and a lovely walk takes you past the colourful and eclectic shops, eateries and small art galleries all the way to Mallory Square which is the place to be at sunset for free entertainment. My husband and I stayed at the Southernmost Hotel for our 3rd year. This last time we stayed there for 2 nights of our honeymoon and loved it. Their facilities are wonderful. The rooms and grounds are very clean. You have access to 3 pools and the beach. They have a poolside tiki bar and washer/dryer, which is convenient for us. We wished we stayed there for the rest of our honeymoon instead of at the Duval House, which I do not recommend. Southermost has free parking, unlike other hotels/B&Bs in Key West. We just got back from a 5 night stay at the southernmost motel. It was just fantastic -- we cannot say enough about it. The room was on the small side, but adequate for our needs-and had a lot of storage space. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! The bathroom was huge ! The motel has 2 beautiful pools--lots of space and chairs to lay out--as well as poolside bars which makes it a most relaxing experience. The staff is very courteous - especially the concierge. We just got back from 2 nights at the Southernmost Motel. For Key West, it is a very good value. It is on the quiet end of Duval Street, well maintained and a reasonable price by Key West standards. I would not recommend spending the extra money to stay at Southernmost on the Beach. The "beach" is a grubby little patch of sand next to the pipe where the drains from the street gutters discharge into the ocean. Guests at both hotels have access to all the pools. Why spend up to $100 extra to sit on a dirty beach?
