South Coast Is Great
We just got back from a week in Las Vegas and stayed at the South Coast. South Coast has great rooms and GREAT beds. Of course, it's off the strip--about 8 minutes south of the airport--but they have shuttle service to the Barbarary Coast at regular intervals. We rented a car and had no problem getting around. Food choices were good and a new deli is to be completed soon. A lovely new Spa is now under construction.. Personnel was very friendly. Highly recommended.
Nice place to stay
I thought that the other negative reviews could have warranted some sort of belief but I was really suprised. The Southcoast is a nice, clean, and friendly place to stay. As others have said, it is far from the main strip ($20 taxi) but it has all the amenities of the MGM's, Bellagio, and others. The room was spacious, the staff was helpful, especially the front desk manager, and the food was good.(Be sure to try the house special steak at the 24-hour restaurant.) I would honestly reccomend this hotel to someone I know personally and to... more
Loved the South Coast!
Wife and I stayed at the South Coast Feb 11-14 to celebrate Valentine's. We thoroughly enjoyed the South Coast. The rooms were larger than most, beds extremely comfortable, and the plasma tv's were cool. Employees were very helpful. Some of the dealers were a little inexperienced, but they had great attitudes and were very happy to see us win at the roulette table. Food was above average. Overall, a great stay. We will go back.
Very nice place to stay!
We stayed two nights at the brand new South Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It is on Las Vegas Blvd (the 'strip') but about 3 miles south of all the "Big" casino/hotels. We did not find that to be a problem in the least. The rooms are large, clean, with very comfortable beds, & all with huge flat-screen plasma TV's mounted on the wall. Maybe because it was not as busy as the "big" casinos made it even more enjoyable. The buffet was good too and the price was much more reasonable than the strip casinos. I would highly recommend this... more
Great stay at the SouthCoast
Stayed here over the Superbowl weekend and had a great time. The rooms are nice which include the plasma TV. The beds were very comfortable. This hotel is a great place there is lots to do under one roof: bowling, bingo, movies, gambling and eating. The hotel reception was quick and efficient one of the best compared to other hotels in Vegas. The only minus is that you MUST rent a car if you stay there its just so much easier to get around. They do offer a shuttle to the strip but it ends at midnight. I would definately recommend this... more
Nice hotel, just far from the strip
Rooms were really nice, clean and well appointed. Though we didn't watch TV all that much, the plasma screen was a nice touch. Bathrooms were average size, the shower as a little small but definitely not bad. The hotel casino was new, so it was just like every other casino just new. The bowling alley was huge and had over 50 lanes, so there was only about a 10 minute wait for us on a Sunday night. I played Bingo, the hall was large and well done. There are also theatres there if you want to see a movie. Staff was extremely... more
Wonderful Experience
What a wonderful 4 night / 5 day experience! We visit Las Vegas 3 times a year, (staying downtown and on the strip)the SouthCoast is as comparable as the others. Spacious rooms and the housecleaning staff does an excellent job. We had a rental car, so travelling to other destinations was not a problem. All of the meals (at the different restaurants)were very good and the staff were very professional. The dealers, slot attendants, Club Coast staff were all very courteous and helpful. The comps and cashback programs were also comparable... more
Wonderful Hotel, Great Place to stay!
We loved staying at the South Coast Casino in Las Vegas. We went on a trip to visit family with our two small children, ages 2 years and 6 months. The Valet staff, Bell Staff, Front Desk clerks, and Housekeeping staff were more than friendly and helpful. The rooms and common areas were sparkling clean, and the rooms were especially comfortable. With the children along, we weren't able to experience all of the other things to do that the hotel/casino offers (movie theater, bowling lanes, "kids tyme" childcare facility, casino, and 6... more
not that hot
We went to Las Vegas and stayed at the South Coast on January 27th. The hotel is clean and new, but it's nothing special. The rooms are nice and big, but, again nothing too great. The slots are tight, and there are way too many penney machines, not enough "old fashioned" quarter and dollar slots. The atmosphere was dull, quiet and sad. Perhaps as time goes by, things will improve. We usually stay at the Orleans, and will stay there next time. I feel the rates are too high for this hotel, they should lower them to reflect a "special" of... more
Great place
Overall, a pleasant stay considering the rate I paid, which was $59 for a weekday and a $99 weeknight rate, which included a free breakfast buffet coupon (which I didn't get to use due to sleeping in late). Although a new hotel, I experienced zero growing pain issues. First to speak of is access: yes, it's several miles from Mandalay and that trip can take a little long because of the weird layout of LV blvd in between where it squeezes down into one lane each way for a short distance before ballooning back into a 2 lane system. A few... more
