More Traveller reviews of Secret Garden Beach Resort
The perfect beach front, margarita fuelled holiday location!
from djmarshall1
We've just returned from 12 nights at the Secret Garden resort and certainly feel we owe it to John and Rebecca to write a review for it. They looked after us tremendously and it was the perfect place to go for a relaxing beach holiday. Our room was excellent, kept clean with new sheets and towels daily (beach towels also whenever you wanted them), a couple of bottles of water every day, tv & dvd, air conditioning and a safe. The food at the hotel was fantastic, we stayed 12 nights there and ate there 9 out of the 10 nights, and...

Secret garden resort is one of the nicest small resorts I have come across in Thailand. My cousin and I spent 10 nites at secret garden during our stay on koh samui,we could quite happily have stayed another month. The resort is in Bang Rak which is a quieter part of the island, but only 10 minutes by taxi to chaweng, where the main nitelife and shopping can be found. We stayed in a garden bungalow.which we were very impressed with,it was very spacious, with a small sitting room(with tv and dvd) large air conditioned bedroom, another room...

Best in Samui
from jools661657
Second week in of our 3 month RTW trip my girlfriend and i decided, after spending a week in Bangkok and a week in Patong Beach, that a couple days on a quiet beach was next. Went onto some Samui website and stumbled on Secret Garden amonst others such as Shambala and Nara etc. I called the resort and spoke to the owner, John, and booked just 2 nights in one of the beach view bungalows. (Never too sure what to expect, 2 nights is a good gamble!) However, within an hour and a half of arriving, we booked a further 5 nights straight away....

Great people and great food
from sphair
My wife, me, and our 1 year old daughter stayed at Secret Garden for a small week, and we absolutely recommend this place for others. While the area itself isn't the best on Koh Samui, the resort itself is a relaxing place to stay. The owners and staff were really friendly and helpful, and genuinely cared about their guests. Before arriving, we had planned to go eat on other restaurants on the various evenings, but we ended up spending most of our meals in the resort restaurant - the food was just fantastic! Tip, you can order anything from...

Amazing!!!!
from Candypants77
We stayed 8 nights at the Secret Garden and it was the besst decision we ever made. The bunglows are lovely we stayed in the beachfront one which is exactly that - right on the beach - they are specious and spotlessly clean. From the moment we were met at the airport by the driver we knew this we going to be special - we were greeted by Rebecca with a refreshing cocktail whilst our room was finished and also given a room to change and beach towels so we could ly in the sun whilst we waited! The beach is postcard perfect with amazing views...

A great choice for the area
from bontano
We booked at Secret Garden after our first choice (both were listed in Lonely Planet) was unable to book the days we needed. Once we arrived, and saw both the first and second choices 'in the flesh', we were quite happy with our decision. The urban area known as Big Buddha beach, where Secret Garden is located, may not be the prettiest on the island, but it's not a bad location for exploring, and for travelling to nearby Ko Phangan and Angthong Marine Park, and Secret Garden is certainly among the nicer places to stay. I liked...

Great people, delicious food, beautiful bungalows!
from travelMandL
My boyfriend and I had been traveling for some time and landed on Koh Samui, tired and in need of some comfort. We were immediately rewarded upon our arrival to Secret Garden! As soon as we were shown our bungalow, we were all smiles. The bungalows are absolutely beautiful with fine dark wood floors, a comfortable bed, ideal lighting for a relaxing evening, and one of the most amazing showers we had ever seen! The place was spotless and, after having experienced a wide variety of hotels and such that left some things to be desired, we both...

Not as Great as everyone made it sound
from worldtravelelingduo
Although this resort is located on the nicest part of a not-so-nice part of Samui (Bo Phut was way better), it still left much to be desired. They are very stingy with towels--they only give you two and they are so thin you can barely dry yourself off with one after showering. If you take more than one shower per day--and you probably do after swimming in the sea water-- you are kind of screwed. Also, having never been to Asia, I was not familiar with the poor plumbing, but I think a sign telling you that you can't flush toilet paper...

Management response from sze-kai
We have not had any guests complain that they were unable to use our water heaters. However we are more than happy to assist with anything in the resort with which our guests have difficulty. All they have to do is ask.
We change the towels and clean the bungalows daily and change the bed linen every 2 days. We are a small, casual beach resort but like most hotels we are aware of our responsibilities when it comes to conserving the island's resources such as water. We therefore provide 1 towel per person and beach towels are available on request. If any guest wants a fresh towel at any time, we are happy to provide it. All they have to do is ask.
On a tropical island such as Samui, and in many places in Asia, there is no government sewage system. We rely on 3 trucks that go around and empty all the septic tanks on a rotation basis. Organic material can be digested by the bacteria that we put into the tanks but some material cannot. Hence the notice in all of our bathrooms.
Hospitality is not an exact science and each guest has their own requirements and expectations. It is through communication from our guests that we, as owners, hope to be able to satisfy the majority of their requests.
Best kept secret!

This was a lovely little find! 3rd time to Samui and stumbled across the secret garden website. Located at the nicest part of Big Buddda Beach, the rooms and views are exactly as promised on the website. Rooms are clean and basic with a nice open air bathroom and shower. The food in their Sea Breeze restaurant was fantastic, one of the best meals we had on the island. They also have a lovely wine selection to complement the food. The secret garden is well run, clean, and very reasonable. The owners (John and Rebecca) have good...

Great Little place
from pooleyjnr
Walking along Big Buddha beach, my mate and I came across this tranquil little place. We went back to our hotel, signed out and booked in the same day, we never left for the next 3 weeks. It was easy to get a couple of bungalow's as it was the low season. The bungalows are an adequate size with a big comfy king size bed, the bathroom and shower a little small but well kept and clean just like the rest of the bungalow. On the subject of the shower and bathroom the owners were just about to renovate the whole site and after having a look at...
