Fantastic Hotel
from Edensorfamily
We stayed in this hotel as a family of 4 in May 2006, we cannot fault the cleanliness, food and pool. The food had a varied wide range and was always freshly topped up. In the mornings you could have absolutely anything for breakfast, full english or continental, cheese, and even pancakes. At each meal there was alway loads of fresh fruit and drinks of your choice. The hotel did have a 'themed night' which just meant one night was all Italian style foods the next a Greek night with Moussaka, Souvlaki etc. Cannot fault the choice or quality it was definitely first class. The rooms were very spacious and very clean towels changed daily and beds made daily. There were bathroom towels and beach towels provided. There is a mini fridge in the room with complimentary drinks also. The only thing that we could fault was the entertainment. Unfortunately, this hotel is Tui hotel which is a German company, all the signs are in German, most of the customers are German and all of the entertainment is German. They do have a kids club but it is not great and if they want to join the evening club for 2hrs you have to pay. Considering we stayed all inclusive we expected something for the kids to do. There isnt anywhere really to go locally so no entertainment made for a very quiet week. The kids did get very bored. All in all this hotel is fantastic and I would return if they improved the entertainment, having an 11 and a 7 year old you do need it! On the positive side I celebrated my birthday whilst I was there and the hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine and basket of fruit as a surprise in my room when we returned from the beach with a card wishing me a Happy Brithday from the management of which I was thoroughly chuffed with.
no entertainment
from A TripAdvisor Member
we have just returned from this hotel and found the experiance to be rather boring. Just to clarify a few points: most people on this site who have written a review about this hotel comment on its cleanliness, friendly staff, and space! I agree with these comments but would like to mention the fact that there are problems with this hotel! 1 the beach is totally unsuitable for children, 2 the total lack of entertainment ( no shows at all for 7 nights ) 3 poor co-ordination from the thompson reps who just wanted to sell excursions, (and no wonder with what was on offer) 4 the isolation of the hotel from the main shopping areas. This may put some people off this hotel, however if your a couple with a car who go thier own way give this hotel a try, if not look else where.David 42,Emma 38, Kieth 40, Julie 43, Morgan 8, lloyd 4
Best Hotel In Europe that i've stayed in...
from Aaron T
Me and my wife just spent our 1st wedding anniversary and her birthday (same day) at the Aegean Blue, it was lovely..., the airport was a complete nightmare took 1h30mins to get our bags, the bus journey was only about 45 mins.. we arrived at the hotel and checked in, we booked online and chose a family room, about £20 more it gives you extra living area which made it nice and spaceous. The room was nice and clean (2301). The bathroom was a good size with seperate shower and toilet divided by a closable frosted glass panel, there is a big mirror (4ft by 3ft) infront of the sink. The balcony overlooked the pool and you could see the Sea in the background.. nice view, The food is really nice, all buffet style with a good selection.. most nights we ate outside on the terrace and was looked after by the waiter Savvas who remembered us and brought us a bottle of wine straight away.. all the wine was local but was nice. There is also an A'la carte option at the Taverna restuarant which again was very nice. The place is VERY clean and they have people walking round clearing away rubbish all the time.. NOT A SINGLE COCKROACH IN SIGHT.. The STAFF at the Hotel are excellent, all really friendly and happy. Falaraki is only a short taxi ride away costing 17-20 euros each way, good for a night out later in the season was a bit empty in May. There are a number of German guests and the entertainment is non existant but if you've got good company then you will be fine. The beach is a shingled one but the sea is very nice (but cold). I would come back to this hotel again.. and i don't often say that....
got married at this hotel
from newlyweds05
my husband and i got married at this hotel and had 25 guests attend the wedding, it was absolutely amazing, it was the wedding of our dreams, the day was really elegant, personnel and extremely intimate. the staff really made a huge effort to please us especially our wedding co-ordinator gill. we had a buffet in the afternoon and a evening reception 6 course meal in the evening which was served in the outside pergola where the ceremony was held. the whole day felt really lavish and we were both thrilled with how we were treated. our guests all stayed at the agean blue but my husband and i stayed in the adult only sister hotel next door, the"atlantica imperial". overall it was an amazing holiday and a dream wedding.

Excellent hotel, food and staff - would go back!
from CL_DME
We were allocated this hotel on arrival at Rhodes and we really struck lucky. After a swift check in, we were taken to our room by the porter who explained everything to us. The room was a good size with a decent sized balcony and very clean. The restaurant had tables inside and out and you were always greeted by a member of staff and shown to a table. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and the service was efficient. And the food was amazing! So much to choose from - plenty of meat, fish, veg and salad. There was also always a vegetarian option as well as a Greek option, plus Greek and Italian themed evenings once a week. And there was always a good selection of desserts, fruit and cheese for afters - if you have any room! The lunchtime taverna by the pool was also well stocked with a good selection and you could eat there of an evening but we stuck to the main restaurant. As for the swimming pools, apart from being on the cold side there was something for everyone. A toddlers paddling pool, a square pool for sports and a whirlpool which flows into the main pool. The main pool is split into 3 sections of varying depth with two bridges but be careful on the bridges - they are quite smooth and you could easily slip especially when wet. There were always plenty of sunbeds and we never had a problem finding one even in the middle of the day. There are also some on the grass by the beach which are part of the hotel but the sunbeds on the beach are not. The beach is a little hard on the feet being sand and shingle but the water was lovely. Ideal for snorkelling. There are also some jet skis and rings to hire but the non motorised ones are free from the hotel. There was always something going on at various times and locations around the hotel for everyone to join in with, British and Germans alike. As for the evening entertainment, this is the only place we were let down. The evenings are aimed more at the Germans as the Brits were out numbered. We didn't have any children with us but there didn't seem to be much for English speaking children - and even less for them in the evenings. That said, all the staff were fluent in English and German so it wasn't too much of a problem. The bar staff were very friendly and we quite enjoyed the Greek measures! And we certainly took advantage of the all inclusive package at the bar. The town centre was also not too far away where there were plenty of shops and bars to choose from. We also had a car for three days and Kolymbia is perfectly placed almost half way between Rhodes Town and Lindos. There are also buses that run frequently to Rhodes Town and Lindos from outside the hotel. So all in all we had a great time and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Room to relax by the Mediterranean Sea
from A TripAdvisor Member
Cheek to jowl by the Mediterranean Sea the Aegean Blue hotel covers a generous area with its own beach frontage. Inland there's a children's area where they can climb, slide, crawl, hang, jump and swing. As the children play parents can play volleyball, archery and water polo. The hotel is all-inclusive so you may over indulge on food and drink, there is no excuse for ever going hungry or thirsty. There is ample room for loungers and shades both close to the edge of the pools and on the grassed areas adjacent. Next to the main reception is a spacious lounge with a bar and seating to relax in the air conditioned interior. A raised terrace provides a great vantage point for overlooking the pool area in the day. Rooms are a good size with air conditioning. All rooms have balconies and it is worth paying extra to have a sea-view. Bathrooms have good facilities but note that hot water is in short supply after 7pm. Rooms, pool and common areas were cleaned every day, all done to a high standard. Meals are taken in the main restaurant where you have a choice of dining inside or out. Food is offered buffet style with a wide choice available every day. Clearing of tables is fast and efficient. As an alternative you can book a meal in the Aegean Taverna where an a la carte meal is available. There are starters including stuffed mushrooms, grilled vegetables and fetta cheese in filou pastry with spinach. Main courses include swordfish with rice, pork kebabs, rice and pitta bread and chicken with mushrooms and cream sauce. Desserts include ice cream and fresh fruit salad. Our visit was mid-September. The majority of guests were young families or older couples. If you want to explore further afield the village of Kolympia is a 15 minute walk. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel. If you fancy a bit of exercise the hotel has bikes that you can use. The 7 springs is a beauty spot about 5 km from the hotel that provides a worthwhile spot to cycle to.
A really lovely, relaxing 2 weeks
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I just got back from 2 weeks at the Aegean Blue and it was as the reviews said, a really lovely hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you and the food was very varied and exceptionally good. The pool area is kept clean as is the hotel and all the staff speak English. Just like the review below, we had sandwiches in our fridge when we arrived too, but on checking the date they were made the date of our arrival and as we arrived at 4.30am, I checked with the rep and she said it was because we missed dinner and they thought we may be hungry, so maybe they do this for all late arrivals, which was a very nice thought. The entertainment was predominantly German, as were most of the guests, but the kids club song played 4-5 times a day got very annoying. As did the club songs that they played everyday, (only once a day thankfully) not very amusing when you are reading a good book. The only other main critism, echoed by other holiday makers we met when we were there, was how cold the pools were, I didn't swim the whole 2 weeks, other than a paddle, the water was the coldest I have ever felt, though it did provide amusement watching people trying to get in!! We would go back again, we had a lovely time and the clean, modern rooms were nice to go back to after a day in the sun. I would recommend this hotel, its food and staff to anyone!
Fantastic (apart from mediocre entertainment)
from A TripAdvisor Member
Just got back last night, superb place, geared to Germans mainly but it was still excellent. Only problem I had was that the German reps put on convoluted dances/plays which were crap rather than just putting on discos to appeal to everybody. Childrens facilities were great, staff and food were top notch, rooms lovely. Sports facilities are very good, overall a lovely holiday just give the reps a night off more often
Loved it!

Returned this morning from Aegean Blue. Had a thoroughly relaxing holiday. Two teens accompanied my husband and I, aged 15 and 18. More Germans than Brits first week of stay but seemed to even out during second week. Fantastic pool area, something for everyone. No problems getting sunbeds. Too much to eat and drink! Not a complaint though. Entertainment later on could have been better with more discos at pool bar after main entertainment had finished. Particularlly enjoyed the English singers who appeared on the Saturday evenings and karaoke, which my children enjoyed with new friends. Accomodation excellent, although would have preferred children to have been in adjoining rooms, however this did, by no means, spoil our holiday! Would return in the future!
