My partner and I stayed at the Cypria Bay Resort at the end of September. We arrived at the resort early hours in the morning to find the hotel very quiet, not a sound.
We were quite hungary and thirsty after the flight and being all incl we expected to be fed and watered. We were told that there was snacks available in the restaurant. The snacks were virtually left overs, consisting of dry ham, a handfull of salad and a few stale sandwiches. Which we decided to give a miss.
Our room was lovely, spotless with a great view which we requested on booking. Bathroom really small but balcony quite good size.
Pool area was spotless also, and pool nice but water ice cold every day. We only went in the pool once.
Our biggest dissapointment was the food. We had booked all inc, and it was more like full board, as food was served at set times and if you didnt eat at those times food was not available. Although drinks were available all day up until midnight. The food standard was quite average. Not much variety and very repetative. Beverages were poor, beer and spirits seemed very watered down.
Weather was nice, some really hot days some over cast, which we were told was unususal for Cyprus this time of year.
The hotel was beach front which is nice if you have sea view room like we did, although the beach wasnt great. The sea did not look inviting. There was another beach a 15 minute bus ride away which was nice called Coral Bay. Not white sandy beach, but nice and clean, with plenty of sun beds (which you get charged for).
We only did one excursion and that was the water park, in Limassol, which was an hour coach ride away, would suggest not to opt for this and go to the phapos Aphrodite water park, which is slightly smaller but just as good and practically walking distance from the hotel, takikng 10 mins only.
Overall, nice holiday, but wouldnt go back to phapos!

i reallyenjoyed my holiday, me and my husband were there 2 weeks, entertainment was fantastic! really made us feel welcome, enough to do through the day! danny, guma very good entertainers! evening entertainment was (poor), had 2 keyboard players fakeing to play the keyboard, wich was a crindge whilst a singer was reading her words all the way through?is this karaoke?and killed our wedding song my heart will go on!:( the same girl did a latin show, couldnt understand a word she was saying... dancing was good. .but i was waiting for actual latino dancing? im a latin dancer was disapointing put one of the dancers sang with her near the end and put her to shame!she was very good shame she sang only 2 songs. the keyboard singers need to stop singing! they are like the jokes you see on britains got talent that dont get through! that nick lewis guy was verry good but needs to maybe sing more up to date stuff and less crap s club 7? come on. realy needs improvement! other than that food was brilliant! staff fab! loved the fire show! and the dancers, emily and kelly, you were fab girls!

Just returned from this hotel. Standard not as high as last year. Appears to be shortage of staff in resaurant. tables not cleared, glasses not available, crockery dirty. Lack of grass in grounds meant most sunbeds were on dirt and were therefore dirty. Very poor outside presentation compared to other hotels along the same stretch of beach.
Food not bad, staff friendly and helpful. Room clean.
would not use this hotel again since comparing it with other 4 star hotels in the area. Do not believe this rates as a 4 star hotel.

We are a family of 5 who stayed at the Cypria Bay Hotel from 13 July 2008 to 27 July 2008. The hotel was excellent - catered for all children, my are 10, 14 and 16. The animacion team were excellent, expecially Guma! (Michael) although they all made you welcome. Food very good, staff very good - cannot say a bad word about the hotel. Night club in Maris next door good til 1.30am. Good for 16-20 year olds. My 16 year old daughter had an amazing time. Lots of children her age. Excellent, what more can I say

Went on last minute Easter break, we had a fabuous holiday, this hotel really catered for our needs - to chill out, do very little and eat well. Didn't rate Paphos itself or the beaches but hardly left the hotel, which is not what we usual do, and still had a great break. The food was excellent, the rooms clean and well equipped. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Would love go back.

The Hotel Cypria Maris has now merged with the Cypria Bay to become the Cypria Resort Hotel. It is however in all essence still two hotels with shared facilities. When browsing the web and looking at brochures, you will probably hope to be booked into the newer “Bay wing” with it’s modern pool with bridges and waterfalls and it is certainly a better looking hotel. However, don’t be disappointed if you find yourself in the Maris, apart from the fact that you can use the facilities of either hotel, the less attractive plain swimming pool of the Maris is better and deeper than the Bay and less crowded. It is also nearer the small sandy beach which although not the best beach I have visited, is still attractive and if you avoid the seaweed, has some nice clean water to swim in. The best bit is unfortunately used by the Jetski company located by the hotel, but they tend to jet off from a small pier so it’s fairly safe but I would suggest you keep aware of any likely traffic, however light it is.
The hotel is clean and we were all inclusive which made the holiday even more relaxing. The local spirits though were poor in comparison to the Canary Islands though and took some adjusting to. The wine was reasonable, the beer ok but the best drinks were the cocktails. Bottled water was also free which was a pleasant surprise. The food was only okay, edible and enough choice but became a bit predictable as the week wore on. The show cooking could have been better and the pasta was quite often cold. Breakfasts were good though and the coffee was pretty good too. You have two sittings at dinner and keep the same table throughout your stay. This is actually quite a good arrangement as you don’t have to go in search of a table, although some might not like having a set time to eat. Breakfast and lunch you can sit anywhere or go to the Taverna located in the grounds of the Bay hotel next door.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. I don’t think I have ever come across a better group of hotel staff anywhere. This is everyone from the reception to the cleaners.
Beach towels are provided and can be swopped at reception. The power points are like British three pin plugs so no adapters are needed.
Rooms have a fridge, TV and a safe but you need to pay a small charge for the safe. Air conditioning is very good.
It’s a bit of a walk to the harbour, around 40 minutes but there is a regular bus service. There are shops and restaurants within the vicinity of the hotel so you don’t actually need to go to the harbour every day anyway, although worth a visit both there and to the Market in the old town. Be aware of timeshare louts though if you do venture out.
Excursions are to Nicosia and Famagusta but these are around 3 hours away so decided to leave it until we are over the other side of the island. The best excursion is to Egypt, apparently anyway, as I didn’t do it but it is recommended by others.
Weather in June was quite hot but bearable and the sun went down around 8.00pm making a nice long hot day. Goes without saying to make sure you have sun lotion on, everywhere! Obviously ignored by those with red marks on their skin. Talking of which, there were a number of people with tattoo’s. Nothing against this, but it did seem by not having one you were in the minority. The guests were generally couples aged 25 -70, some with kids but as this was in term, not too many. Pool was un-crowded and nice and warm, a real pleasure to swim in. The parasols are a bit difficult to put up, don’t be shy to get help as they do take quite a bit of effort.
The downside as noted by a few reviews is the entertainment which is quite appalling. Holiday crowds are normally quite easy to please, but I have never seen so many people walk out on a performance. They really need to improve this. There was perhaps only one or two good acts in the 11 days we were there. If you can imagine the people who didn’t get through the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, then they could still get a job at the Cypria Resort.
I think it’s worth going to this hotel although not high on my recommendations, it does give good value and a relaxing time. If you have already booked and are only now looking at reviews, don’t panic, I’m sure you will have a good holiday at this hotel.

My husband and I have just returned from a two week stay at the cypria bay. We loved it there. the food was good, not too repetitive, the cypriot taverna that they have started doing 3 nights aweek was brilliant (have to book this at reception). Great being able to use the maris next door for drinks some evenings. Fridge in room, nothing in it but you were allowed to take bottles of water from bar and put them in it. Entertainment crew all new very friendly as were all the staff. Some of the acts on a bit repetitive.
The only reason that I have marked this hotel a 8 and not a ten was because they closed the falcon bar to guests two saturday nights in a row to hold private functions.

Just got back from the Ria Cypria Bay and totally agree with previous comments of Mrs Williams in April 2007.
This Hotel is totally overated and should not be a 4star plus as stated by First Choice. During the whole length of our stay we were never offered any waiter service all they wanted to do was collet empty glasses and cups.
The food was repertitious I have never seen so much Pork we did have Lamb on one day though. The basic upright chairs in the reception area were not very comfortable and were in need of replacing with better quality that you would expect in a 4 star hotel.
The rooms were typical 3 star but did have two chairs the TV could only get BBC World News.
The entertainment was poor and came to a complete stop if there was a Greek wedding taking place they took over everything including the nightclub we were lucky we only had one during our week.
On the plus side the pool is very good plenty of sunbeds poor quality though just take awalk along the footpath and see what the other 4star hotels offer their guests.
I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone

Me and my husband have just returned from this fantastic hotel which we stayed at for our honeymoon.
We were greeted at the hotel by a lovely, friendly man on reception who quickly checked us in. When we went to our room we were not disappointed. We had a lovely bottle of champagne waithing for us with a card from the staff congratulating us both. The room was very spacious and very very clean. The view from the balcony was breath taking, with the hotel right on the beach and fabulous views of the pool area too. We could not have wished for a better room.
The staff everywhere were very helpful and friendly during the whole of our stay. The food catered for everyone too. We never ate anything we didnt like. It was all so perfect.
The pool was a delight to just look at. Although it was alittle cold when you first got in. However, once you were in, it was lovley. We did go in March so I guess that when the weather becomes warmer out there, the pool would be even better, if that were possible.
All in all a great honeymoon. One which we will never forget. The best holiday me and my husband have ever had and cant wait to go back there. 100% ++++++++++++

Spent a very enjoyable week in March 08 in the Cypria Bay. The hotel and pool area was excellent and very clean and the staff were always helpful and courteous. The food was excellent and there was always plenty of variety. On the entertainment side there was something different on every evening of the week we were there and the animation staff organised activities during the day. At the bar the staff were very efficent and you did not have to wait long for your drinks. There was a good selection of drinks specially the cocktails. The staff at reception were also very pleasant and helpful and it was a nice touch the way the maids left our rooms. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who was thinking of visiting.

My husband, myself and our two sons aged 21 and 23 have just returned from the Riu Cypria Bay hotel after spending the Easter weekend there. We have had a wonderful week. The hotel is lovely and the staff are excellent. The rooms are modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. In fact, the hotel is immaculate and cleaners are in evidence all day long. The food is good and is varied to suit all tastes. However, on the down side, the coffee is poor and toast making facilities are not good! We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

This hotel is an excellent example of the standards and quality that the Riu hotel chain have.
We have stayed in a Riu resort before in Dominican Republic and find that they offer a great complex at good prices. The hotel is set in massive landscaped gardens and has a lake sized swimming pool with plenty of space to relax. The hotel is also located on the beachfront, a great location.
The hotel is modern and well designed. Very little noise, well decorated and furnished. The rooms are beautiful and fresh. Very light and spacious, with good facilities. The balcony had great views and was big and private.
The hotel offered several activities, and also had a modern fitness centre. There was plenty to do in the evenings, discos, and shows.
The food was good. There were two buffet restaurants serving a large variety of food so there was always something to choose.
The bars offered a good variety of drinks. Also 2 a la carte restaurants that were exceptional.
Another great Riu hotel!
