Should be ranked as 1 star hotel
From the outside this Hotel looks OK. With great reviews on the internet we choose to book it. When we arrived the receptionist asks our passports just like if he was a cop. Concerning the rooms : if it has been a 1 star hotel, I would not have been disappointed; but it's quoted 4 stars (and sometimes 5 in some websites) !!!! The stars should have been granted 20 years ago but since nothing has been refurnished. Bathroom : horrible (as big as in a motor-home) Bed : just like stone Noise : in front of the see... more
Highly Recommend The Mediterranean Hotel
We stayed at the Mediterranean Hotel for 4 nights in September. The price was very reasonable for a modern hotel and the room was great and had a balcony with (barely) a view of the sea (seaview rooms were unavailable even though we booked well in advance). The hotel is only a few yards from a great beach and is a 15 minute (or so) walk from the Old Town. The breakfast buffet was very nice. I heartily recommend staying there. The Old Town of Rhodes is extremely well preserved. We also took a local bus to see the ruins at Lindos and a... more
Very disappointed with facilties, but good location
Let me start with the positives: good bar (and bartenders) and convenient location. Now the negatives: -No locks / bolts on doors -No internet in rooms -"double" beds are two singles pushed together that roll around -AC barely makes a dent (and this is in October) -Indifferent service (even more than most greek hotels) -Restaurant is buffet-only -Convention heavy -Peeling wallpaper -No free power outlets (except right by bathroom door) I haven't adjusted rating for factors like... more
I Would Do It Again
I was told booking hotels with Greek travel agents would be cheaper. I don't know how true that is but I was satisfied with my accommodations. The room was clean and the linens and towels were changed everyday. The staff was stuffy but I didn't need to really interact with them much so I didn't care. The hotel is in a GREAT location. The Casino is accross the street, off to the side. The beach is a stone's throw away, the aquarium (though small it's cute) is right up the street. Everything is walking distance. The old town and the marina is... more
Great Location
You cannot beat this hotel for location. Not only is this hotel the shortest distance to the beach than any others we saw, the beach is one of the nicest coves in the area. The water is very calm. The water gets choppy the next cove over. It is a 10 minute walk to Old Town. There are tons of restaurants and bars, and grocery stores close to the hotel. The hotel itself is nice enough. The breakfast buffett is ample. The staff, while not overly friendly, is efficent. They hooked us up with a company that does private tours of the... more
Good choice
We stood in this hotel because I read the good reviews at tripadvisor before. The hotel is located near the old town and is next to Rhodes beach and the Aquarium, so it is a good choice if you want to enjoy the city life. The hotel is nice and clean, our room was not too big, the bathroom a little too small for my taste. The staff was OK (despite one guy at the reception who looked like a macho and behaved a little rude), the only disappointing thing was that our room looked on a big wall. We wanted to change but they said they were... more
Nice Hotel - Great Views
My wife and I stayed at the Mediterranean Hotel in late June, 2006. Our room was large, by European standards, with a fabulous view overlooking the water. The air conditioning worked just fine, which is a big requirement for us in the summer. I noticed some reviewers commented on the cramped breakfast room, and yes, it is small for a hotel this size. But it is not THAT small. We suggest going a little earlier in the morning. We really never had a problem, although you did have to ask for coffee more than once. The pool area is small,... more
Not up to expectations
We stayed here for 4 nights and as we had booked 3 months in advance with a request for a seaview room were disappointed to be allocated a room at the rear of the hotel, other people we knew booked about a month before their visit and were alllocated a seaview room which of course put us in a bad mood with the hotel!!. The room size was reasonable and had a small balcony overlooking the rear street with other hotels in that street The lounge areas were very comfortable and the dining room attractive however it could get a little... more
Disappointed
My partner and I have just returned from a weeks stay in the hotel Mediterranean in Rhodes. We looked at all the reviews and chose the hotel based on information given by previous guests. This was a big mistake. We have never felt so unwelcome in a hotel. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this hotel has a lot to learn about customer service. Some of the staff were very stuffy and couldn't even make eye contact. The room was clean and reasonably well equipped, but the bathroom was very small and dingy. Good... more
Mediterranean Hotel - many positives!
The Mediterranean Hotel is a modern hotel with good facilities, right across street from beachfront and next to the Playboy Casino...very close to ATM, pay phones, Internet Cafe on G. Papanilolaou Str. 17E (tell George hello from Christy & Callie), markets and a cconfortable walk to the Medieval Old Town (about 15-min by foot). The pool is terrific though it was cold when we arrived due to unusual winds from coast of Africa (!) and the breakfast spread was outstanding (yogurt and plenty of toppings included). Walk to port is very doable... more
