Riad Farnatchi

Along with all the other reviewers here, we loved the Farnatchi, and the great team who run it, led by the incomparable Lynne. It is a tranquil, calm place with every thought given to make your stay comfortable and happy - such a contrast with the `real` Marrakesh outside, but then you almost need the one to make you truly appreciate the other ! My wife and I stayed at Riad Farnatchi for a week in November - we couldn't fault the Riad. The staff were excellent and everything you have read in these reviews about the quality of the place is true (as you would expect for the price). Accordingly, our rating of the hotel is excellent. However, Marrakech was a real let down for us - we expected so much and will not return. I would not recommend the city for anybody who wants to have a relaxing "break". It’s hard to decide what’s most impressive about Farnatchi. The feeling that you’re in on a fantastic secret repeats hits you every few moments. We had an amazing week's stay at this exceptional hotel. The wonderful common rooms and suites, staff, food,hammam, spa treatments, location,and ambience are accurately described in previous reviews. I would stress that we felt completely at home, so much so that we ate dinner "home" half of the nights of our stay. A new touch was the arrival of Bose iPod SoundDocks for each suite. We have just returned from a week at the Riad Farnatchi in Marrakesh. This riad provides a true haven from the bustle that is Marrakesh and is ideally situated in the Medina (old city). You just need to step outside the front door and you enter the labyrinthine cobbled streets. We were lucky as the weather was glorious and the sky an azure blue every day. This is a genuine Moroccan gem- fantastic location, very close to the Musee and right on the doorstep of the Souks. The hotel, decor, service and setting are truly incredible. The service is so efficient and friendly yet never intrusive. Lynn in particular was amazing- before our trip she recommended an intinery for us which really made this a holiday of a lifetime. I was charmed by the Riad Farnatchi and found it inviting on multiple dimensions - the beauty and intimacy (it has only five rooms) of the property; the attentiveness and care of the staff; and its location (within the Medina and steps away from the souk). The property is set in a narrow alley within the winding roads surrounding the souk, marked only by a large, dark, wooden door. From the moment we arrived at the Riad Farnatchi I felt as if our comfort and enjoyment were the number one priority of the staff. The service was excellent and unobtrusive; I felt as if I were truly a welcome guest rather than a paying customer. Arrived here after three wonderful nights at Kasbah Tamadot which we didn't think could be beaten in terms of style or service - how wrong could we be! This Riad is truly heaven on earth, from the stylish and luxurious suites to the unsurpassable service. Every whim was catered for, and we felt truly relaxed and at home. Stayed here for 7 nights in April 2005. This will always be one of our favourite places to stay. From the moment that you are picked up in the white 4*4 and driven through the intoxicating streets of Marrakech you know that you are going somewhere special and once to enter through the door and see the beautiful lit pool (we arrived at night) and had sip of the mint tea brought to your room you just want the experience to go on.
