The hotel was clean, and the pool was lovely. big and always a sunbed. The staff were extremely helpfull and couldnt do enough for me when i was finding it hard to call home. 95% of people staying there were german or european when i went, which is fine but a bit daunting... more

A great hotel in a great location. A short walk from the Old Town, where we spent most of our days and the new town. Shingle beach over the road - hurts your feet but no need to visit this as the hotel pool is clean and there were always pleanty of sun beds available. My... more

nearer 2 star
my girlfriend and i stayed in this hotel in the first week in june. all i can say is that the hotel's biggest asset is its staff. always friendly and willing to help they were brilliant. the hotel is in a good location in that it is walking distance from both the beautiful old town and the new town, but unfortunately it seems to be caught in a wind tunnel! you honestly cant put you towel down without it flying away in the wind! the swimming pool is really small and you cant really swim in the sea as the gale force winds cause waves that are huge. the rooms themselves are very, very basic. this hotel is no more a 4 star than new york is a small village. not bad if youre on a budget but dont expect 4 star. more like a poor 3 star, even 2 star
Good Hotel
The hotel was in a good location and the price was great. The rooms were a bit dated but for the price of the hotel which included breakfast and dinner, Who Cares!!! Everything in Rhodes (Old Town & New) is within walking distance. The hotel staff is very friendly. The dinner & breakfast buffet had a large variety of food choices. The food was very consistent and good. There is also a lot of good grills and restaraunts within walking distance of the hotel if you are not into buffets. I can't wait to go back to Rhodes again!!!! The hotel is a great place to stay if your on a budget!!!
Friendly staff...but that's all!!!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Belvedere Beach Hotel for 7 days last August. On arrival we were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff however the rest of the hotel left a lot to be desired. Our double? room with two single beds was clean but obviously hadn't been updated in 20 years and the tiny ensuite bathroom hadn't seen a refurbishment in 40 years! We paid for 1/2 board but the food was terrible to say the least. We only ate in the hotel on two nights but decided it just wasn't worth that torture just to get our money's worth. Luckily we found some fantastic places to eat in Rhodes town once we had negotiated the rather long and hazardous walk to get there from the hotel (approx 20mins along unlit, busy roads with no pavements). Would definitely recommend hiring a car, as we had a great time exploring Rhodes island and we highly recommend a trip to Lindos. However don't even think about getting back and relaxing by the pool, as our German friends occupied the sunbeds from dawn til dusk! Instead try the beach across the road, very rocky and windy but sunloungers were reasonable. Overall Rhodes is a fantasic island to visit, just choose another hotel.
Great Sunset, Good location, ok hotel
We stayed 3 nights here at the end of our holiday traveling round the Dodecanese. The location was fine for exploring Rhodes town, including the Old Town - these are both within walking distance. Recomend the 60s bar in the New Town! The view from the balcony (if you have pool/sea view) of the sunset is absolutely stunning - over the sea and down past Symi. The hotel was very clean, with good sized rooms, air con worked very well. What didn't I like? 1. The food - it is buffet style, so tends not to stay too warm and is not very Greek, and whilst the room looks out across the sea and sunset it is a bit canteen feel - there are hundreds of great tavernas in Rhodes and eating in the hotel just felt underwhelming - I can see it is easy and convenient for families however. 2. There is a busy road by the hotel between us and the beach - you hear the traffic on the balcony, but not inside if you keep the doors shut 3. The Germans and their towels on the sun beds - they are just obsessed! Sun lounges became available in the afternoon however, which was fine for us as we explored Rhodes in the moirning and lounged in the afternoon. Overall a fine hotel - we just ate out most evenings. The TV was useful given that we were there during the London bombings. We paid £200 for 3 nights, 2 people half board, and it was worth it.
Magical Rhodes
This may seem alittle repetitive after reading all the previous write-ups for this hotel, but i must though re-iterate how fabulous the entire staff are - always-always have a smile and a greeting for you. again i would say that the rooms especially the bathrooms are indeed ready for a make-over, but this is one of, or if not, the oldest hotels on Rhodes and not alot would have to be done to it to bring it back to its full 4* glory, saying that though how much time do you spend in your room, (if your like us, to sleep and shower in) when you have all that rhodes town has to offer. The OLD TOWN is a wonderful magical place in its self, especially when all the tourist shops have closed, with all that history and it is still a thriving little town within a town, where people still live and work It is worth the trek all the way up the clock tower just before dark, for the most stunning views and photo opps. and at only 5 euros (you get any drink included) its so worth risking vertigo !... thank you to all who made our holiday so wonderful, including all the staff (Nikos, Billy, and John) at AEGLI cafe-bar near the clock tower ---great spot to people watch!!!...... RHODES , ONCE VISITED NEVER FORGOTTEN....
Loved this hotel
Good position opposite the beach, with fabulous sunsets if you book a room with a sea view. It's away from the really noisy bars but only a short walk from the old town. All the staff were friendly and extremely keen to help you enjoy your holiday. They were always smiling and couldn't do enough for the guests - exceptional. Our room was always spotless when the maids had been and we couldn't fault the cleanliness of the hotel public areas. The food was good if a little repetative. The bar prices are very reasonable. Rhodes old town is truely magical, especialy at night and the harbour areas are full of character. There is a lot to see here. The Belvedere is a good choice of hotel for 3-4 star accomodation but the jewel in the crown is its staff. Well done.
Great little Hotel
We stayed at the Belvedere in May 2005. It is a lovley little hotel but beware if you have booked it as a four star as we did it is not a four star, it may well have been twenty years ago but not anymore. Do not let that put you of the staff are the friendlest I have ever come across. We stayed half board for a week and the food was okay but a bit boring with very little if anything for sweets. The breakfast was the normal english but on any one day you could have either bacon with no sausage or the other way round. The rooms are clean if a little tired and in need of redecoration. Then there is the bathroom everything is there but how they get it into such a small space is beyond belief. It is very small and dark. To show how much in need of modenisation the bathrooms are four tiles fell off the wall as I was having a bath, they where replaced very quickly by the repairman as was the leak in the toilet. The best thing is that the bar prices are very reasonable for both food and drink. I would go back in a couple of years as the staff make your holiday they cannot do enough for you.
Excellent Location, Great Value
This hotel in the old part of Rhodestown at the northern tip of Rhodes was the highlight of our trip. We stayed there at the end of April/05, the beginning of May/05. The rates were lower in April and went up slightly in May. The hotel is clean, has friendly staff, and is located across the highway from the Aegean Sea. Each evening, as we ate our evening meal, we were treated to a beautiful sunset which dropped down into the sea. The outdoor pool looked beautiful although we didn't use it. It became quite breezy toward evening although it was still fairly warm. Our reservation included half-board which meant breakfast and dinner were included. They have internet access as well as a bar and lounge area where we were entertained one of the evenings. There was also a small mini-mart just outside and down a set of stairs....very convenient for beer, film, soft drinks, snacks, etc. We booked this hotel through (---), and if you are planning to travel there, get in touch with Rodorama Travel who can get you cruise tickets, etc. at a bit of a discount. ( the cost was about $75 Canadian per room per night) They take a personal interest and were great!
Brilliant Break
Really lovely hotel. Get a room overlooking the beach, there is entertainment on the pool side so if you want an early sleep, tough luck. Fairly good grub, leaning towards Scandanavian food. Breakfast has sausages, bacon, egg etc on every second day. Lots of veggie choices, salads and pork or chicken for dinner/beef on some days. Desserts are nice but repetitive, always ask "what's on?" It isn't always clear. Service in the restaurant is brilliant with lovely waitresses who get to know you if you choose their area. Bar prices are the usual for hotels, expensive but, if you buy a bottle or 1/2 bottle of wine, it is good value. Pool area is spotless, usual covering of sunbeds, you need to be out by 9.30 a.m but beach is across the road so who cares. The breeze around the pool is welcome, best on furthest side from the sea, but be careful of sunburn it's deceptive. Old town, which is magical, is 10 mins. walk away. Quickest way is up past pool onto side road, up main road, "keep well in", pass lights and it's straight ahead. Look for French restaurant up back streets in the old town., to the left halfway down, it is something special. Entertainment 3 times a week, Greek night is great fun as is Karaoke night (we're middleaged, by the way).
Great hotel, will sure go back there!
I have had a great time in the Belvedere Beach Hotel during my 2 week stay there this summer in July. I'd booked a last minute trip to lovely Greece once again this year, and this time to the wonderful island of Rodos. The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful, and I highly respect their hard work to make their guests' stay most comfortable. Food was great; different every day, always well varied and good quality. I'd booked half board and the food never bored me during my 2 weeks' stay (always buffet), it was even always something to look forward to. It was also possible to have lunch in the hotel, which was well affordable, only drinks being somewhat expensive (goes for nearly all cafes and restaurants in Rodos). Rooms were tidy, well decorated and good size. They were cleaned every day. Fridge and satellite TV (not many channels though) in room, and all rooms had a balcony with chairs and table. Only thing I did not like was the small size of the bathroom. Around 50% of rooms have sea view. I myself moved to another room (at small extra cost) because I did not like the location (backside, 4th floor - to frontside, 1st floor, closer to the entrance). On 3 or 4 days there was entertainment during the evening (repeated after a week), for example also a Greek Night with greek dances (like to join?). The location finally.. the hotel is located at the edge of Rodos city, which makes that you don't hear any noise from bars and such but you can still get to the center with all its places to see and places to go out very easily and quickly by foot (or by taxi if you like, quite cheap) and it's only 30 meters from the beach. To get to the beach you have to cross a road, which is also possible through a tunnel in front of the hotel more safely. The beach is clean (many so-called blue flag beaches at Rodos), though not sand, but small stones. But that's okay. If you like you can rent one of the many beach beds with umbrella. The Aegean Sea here is a little rougher than the other side of the island (SE side, Mediterranean Sea), but nothing bad about that. The hotel is really suitable for everyone, young and old, and people with varying interests, because of the high quality (which one might expect from a 4-star hotel) and its location on one of the best spots of the island, next to the beach, with all kinds of thing-to-do at hand (including water sports, boat trips, city/island trips) as well as public transport (busses, and taxis), and the Old Town (not to miss, the place to go at night for everyone). I would certainly recommend Belvedere to everyone who wishes to go to Rodos, which again I would recommend (as the most beautiful island of Greece) if you plan to go to Greece, with it's great culture, great food, and kindest people!
