Relax Bay Resort

3 times In Relax Bay and already looking forward going back! Relax is the perfect name for the place. We have been living in Asia for over 15 years and it's not that easy to find such a cool place as the Relax. Believe me!!! There, you just have to enjoy life with all the goods things of Thailand. We had such a great time in this lovely quiet place, Relax Bay is the kind of resort you start to love from the first minute :-)... restaurant right on the beach, very friendly staff, great food... beautiful garden. We'll definitely recommend this charming place... CHEERS !!

My boyfriend and I adored Relax Bay. The water was clear and sparkling, the restaurant and bar staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was, as the name suggests, supremely relaxing. We, couple in our mid twenties, stayed at the Relax Bay Resort for 4 nights - in an A/C bungalow. We had stayed at a different resort on Ko Lanta before arriving at Relax Bay. The french owner of Relax Bay picked us up (complimentary) from the other resort and upon our arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile, a cold fruit juice and a refreshing towel which was a great start. We took a last minute trip to Thailand, and wanted to stay on long beach. Since we had problems booking a bungalow there before arrival (with 2 small children), we eventually managed to book 5 nights at relax bay. My sister stayed there 6 years ago- and loved it- so she recommended the place. We had high expectations- and we fell in love with the place. We ended up staying 2 weeks, and loved every minute. We spent 2 very relaxed nights here in a beach-side bungalow before moving further south along the coast of ko lanta. We could have stayed longer. The beach was pretty much private for use by the resorts residents. The bungalow (we stayed in the VIP) was extremely spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant was lovely - both the setting and the food. Free WIFI was a bonus. Sunsets at the small bar on the beach were delightful. Staff very friendly. Recommended.

We arrived at Relax Bay after having a shocking stay at a resort down the road. We were greeted with cold drinks and asked to take a seat while our reservation was sorted out. There was a mixup in the bookings and our room we booked wasnt available. They immediately upgraded us for the night to their VIP suite and were very apologetic... Great customer service. We stayed for 3 nights only, and wished we'd stayed longer...The reception staff, restaurant staff and particularly the bar staff were always smiling, always polite and always happy to do anything for you. Aptly named, Relax Bay is certainly relaxing. However, the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. Very basic room with a/c for 1500 baht, water supply to the bungalows was very rusty and smelly (literally flakes of rust coming out of the shower head), toilet and hand basin badly stained and dirty from the rusty water. Almost no water pressure to the shower, a small spray that would dwindle away to a dribble after a minute. Hair washing impossible. In March 2007 we stayed just one night in Relax Bay Resort at Ko Lanta, although we had made a reservation for three nights after reading a good review in the Guide book, but we escaped from it. What we didn't like about it: Some bungalows have nice seeviews but most of them don't, the wooden bungalows are shabby and the sewer smells terrible, as we complained about the bad smell the staff had to laugh.
