Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan-very good experience
Our first time in Mazatlan but wow, we loved it here! We've been all over Mexico but this is the spot. I can't figure out what people are talking about with the mildew smell, we didn't smell anything but the cleaner they used daily and that was only for an hour. Yes, the beds are hard, but for some reason, it didn't bother us. And if you've never been to Mexico, the timeshare people can be a big and unpleasant surprise. Breakfast here is best at the Sunday brunch and we ate elsewhere for all the other meals. Cilantro's was okay, but... more
The good and the VERY UGLY
We were at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan the week after Valentine's Day. We had read and heard about the Stone Island tour where visitors can go horseback riding on the beach, among other activities. My husband and I were on horses and ready to ride. A rider ahead of me lost her hat and a worker came running with it for her and spooked my horse. He threw me and I broke my pelvis after being in Mazatlan for only two days. I was taken back to Pueblo Bonito where there was a first aid station. A doctor was called. I didn't know what was wrong... more
First time --- Last time!
Pueblo Bonito was the best thing about Mazatlan during our trip. The beds were harder than futons and the mold/mildew smell in the rooms was distasteful. Nothing fancy about the rooms - but I must say that the staff was great. We ate at Cilantro's restaurant and had good food there each time. The incessant pestering from vendors and timeshare people when you venture out of the resort was kept out on the street by staff at the hotel. I must say that we would never return to Mexico for a hard earned vacation - the place is a dump!!
A little adventure, a lot of relaxation
Eight beautiful days were just what my wife and I wanted. We got it and a bit of adventure too. Pueblo Bonito is really first class. The people were making every effort to meet our needs and they did!The weather Dec 29 - Jan 6 was a little cool which surprised us, but the 11AM - 2 PM time-in-the-sun worked well. Highlights? walking around "Old Mazatlan", especially the Paralta Theatre, the market, and the "Oldest Bakery". A "dont' miss" trip for us is Stone Island. The birds, particluarly the Pelicans and Frigate Birds were far closer in... more
A very nice place
My wife, 5 1/2 yr old and I just returned from a week at the Pueblo Bonito. The hotel is older, the first part where the "junior suites" are was finished in 87, the second part where the 1 bedroom suites are, in 92. But it it kept in excellent condition. The staff is plentiful and helpful. I saw them doing little jobs like touching up the paint and cleaning the outdoor lanterns, almost every day. They have a nice, deep beach front and the 20+ palapa's are behind a line that keeps the vendors away from you if you don't want to be disturbed.... more
Unbelievable
This is my eighth time at this hotel, and I have never had a bad experience. It is a wonderfully friendly place, with the staff always ready to help. Right on the beach, clean, and well maintained. My wife and I heartily recommend it.
Charming hotel!
My husband and I stayed for a week at the P.B. Matzalan. The hotel was quaint and charming. There were flamingos wandering in the lush and beautfiul gardens. If you are a "yuppie" type, perhaps this hotel would not be for you. It is older and not your super-duper modern facility. However, my husband and I like the flavor of old Mexico and this hotel with its beautiful tile floors, wood accents and Colonial style decor really impressed us. The beach there is beautiful and the 2 swimming pools are unbelievable. If you want great service,... more
UGH!
We stayed at this hotel because of the positive reviews in this site. All I can say is that these reviews must have been written by people from the hotel. We arrived to a very dark room that you had to lean out of the balcony to see the water...that looked nothing like the water in the picture. The odor was so terrible, mold and mildew that we asked to be moved. After paying a large fee to upgrade, of which the front desk asked for part in cash that was never noted on our bill, we were moved to a more expensive, with a lovely view.... more
"Affordable Excellence, May 2003
Traveled to Pueblo Bonito in May, 2003. I loved everything about the hotel. If your planning a trip to Mazatlan, Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan is the place to stay. Look no further. The hotel is full of real world Mexico charm. The people working there are great. They're very friendly and wait on you hand and foot. The food is great in the resturaunts, the landscape is picture perfect, the long stretch of beach is prestine, two huge free form pools with swim up bar, happy hour is at 4 which means two for the price of one, great location for... more
Honest and Fair Review
We returned to Pueblo Bonito hotel in Mazatlan and this visit was excellent ! Staff - 5 stars Beach - 5+ stars Food - 4.95 stars Pricing - 5 stars Ambiance - 5 stars Room Service - 5 stars Family/People Friendly - 5 stars We arrived though at a much busier time of year and found no upgrade for us when we asked as our view of the ocean being obstructed by palm trees... So, one of the helpful staff had the gardening staff cut the trees - Magic. A great view for the rest of the week :) If you want a beach palapa, get down to the... more
