Promenade Hotel

paid for three beds in room and when the room was finaly ready only two beds,back downstairs for another battle with reception.poor organisation.

I stayed at the Promenade,Kota-Kinabalu in 2000,2001,2002,2006 & 2007 with a minimum of 2 nights stay. I booked through the hotel website ,click the promotion icon & you coincide the date of your arrival & the their promotion dates & you will be surprise why this is my # 1 choice hotel in Kota-Kinabalu. Going there purposely on a work trip. Promenade is a very nice hotel with a pleasant view. Eventough my room are not facing the sea but i had a breakfast at their exclusive lounge on 11th floor with a great seaview and the food are wonderful. The check in process were smooth and we've been welcomed by a very friendly staff. The room is nice but i especially like the bathroom. Eventough i didn't pay for this trip but i'm very sure it's worth for the spending. Last but not least, the location is strategic for those who loves... more

The Promenade hotel is a very good hotel. It's old, and shows its age with a little bit of wear and tear and a dated look, but it makes up for this with excellent service. When I mentioned offhand that I had to leave really early one day and didn't need their breakfast they offered to open the kitchen early so I could eat and when I turned that down, they offered to pack me a breakfast(of course, this could have all been an upsell but still very thoughtful). My friends and I took a trip down to KK and stayed in the Promenade Hotel....my the hotel is over rated....and horrible overall in terms of food and service...they claim of being 4 star........totally ridiculous...the food quality is really poor.....but the next door seafood restaurant was good....

Was a problem with the bookings as we wanted to change the dates and involved several e-mails and phonecalls. Once booked hotel was fine. Seaview is very nice and the hotel is well located. Rooms could have been a bit cleaner but nice staff and what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Book directly through their website for great deals.

Better than average hotel which I strongly recommend - appreciated room view (make sure you reserve oceanview and check web site for promotions) and cleanliness, and the excellent fodd stalls by the beach in front of the hotel.

The hotel is beside Village Seafood Restaurant. The fish, prawns, lobsters (US$20 per lobster!!) are all alive and in the tanks. You pick up the animal you want and the restaurant cooks it the way you like them to be. Very, very fresh seafood, at cheap prices!! You haven't really experienced KK if you don't eat the seafood there. Beside the Village Seafood restaurant is a shopping complex that is not the usual tourist trap. I stayed at the Promenade Hotel for 7 nights this month. I was very impressed with all it had to offer. I had a double room that was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. For anyone considering a stay here, the 8th floor is completely non smoking and my room smelt very fresh unlike my friends room on a different floor that had the lingering smell of smoke sadly. After staying at the Hotel Promenade for 1 week in March, much can be said of the courtesy and quality of the staff. The food was varied (Buffet style all meals) and well presented. Rooms were very good and kept clean every day. The only down side was the location. Facing the South China Seas is correct but all pretence of a swim was out of the question.
