Portixol Hotel and Restaurant

We spent a week at this hotel after reading all the comments on Trip Advisor. As stated in some of the reviews, the beds were very comfortable! Loved the view of the Med and port and beautiful sunsets! We were a little worried about weather in Jan but had sun every day we were there! Also had booked free tickets to see the football game Mallorca/Betis offered through the hotel. Bus and train service is also excellent. Just returned from a weekend break at the Portixol Hotel and what a little gem we discovered! The hotel is located just outside the main city of Palma, overlooking a small harbour, about 15 mins easy walk along the sea front to the cathedral and old town centre. The hotel is about 10-15 mins in a taxi from the airport (15 euros approx). The Hotel is really well appointed, we had a large port view room that was so well equipped nothing had been forgotten, I mean nothing!! also great beds and a sunken bath! The Portixol is just out of the main part of Palma, which is good if you want peace and quiet. Rooms are well-equipped with Scandinavian-style decor, comfortable beds, refrigerators, and decent air conditioning. There's a fine beach a block away, and lots of little restaurants along the shoreline. Wild and crazy party animals can skip this hotel, but families will find it friendly and welcoming. Free internet access and a courteous staff round out the picture.

We have stayed at portixol 3 times before and always find it a dreamto come back to.the staff are beautiful, extremeley friendley and always available to assist. if you visit during the football season they will even arrange for free tickets to watch real mallorca subject to avaialibity. we borrowed the bikes and had a lovely ride along the paseo (seafront).

Great hotel, lovely atmosphere, chic modern decor but not stark and the most comfortable beds in the world! Only very minor negative is the lack of shower curtain resulting in a very wet bathroom. Lunch menu is great and the house white delicious. We first stayed in May 2004, returned for August bank holiday this year and have already booked to go with friends in June 2006. Breakfast is great and is served till 11.30am so you can make the most of the ultra comfy beds!

"superb","wonderful","excellent"... So many adjectives, I decided to try the restaurant of the hotel. Here are the facts: a) I asked for an available table (any one) and was told drily by the head waiter I could only stay indoors (I didn't ask for a table outside) b) my wife and me waited for about half an hour for someone to come and bring us the menu (after we asked somebody to do that) c)we have been told by the waiter that he was informed we would be given a table outside, that's why he didn't come before...(we... more

This hotel truly is a gem. It is only slightly removed from Palma's bustling old town (Taxi €6) and provides a very relaxed setting for a holiday or break. Chic and cool. Both the restaurant and bar are excellent. There are a lot of staff that are happy to tend to your every need and the pool area is superb - relaxed and spotless. 2 beaches are minutes away. The rooms are very cool, clean and crisp and little extras are included - like the massive DVD and CD library downstairs (for nursing a hangover). Not much to fault: No bath... more

great place, easy to get to, lovely hotel and setting too. food was excellent - I ate the bar menu, the daily lunch fixed 3 course and the evening a la carte - all were excellent. staff were great and happy to please and would 100% go back again, that's if I can get in! this is a gem of a place and a great base if you want to venture further afield. We stayed here for a week in May with our 14 month old daughter to recharge after a long winter in Paris. After reading reviews and searching the internet I chose the Portixol for its rooms, food and location. And I must say that it was one of the best weeks we have spend abroad. During our entire stay the staff were very helpfull and made our stay one we will remember fondly for some time. Just returned from 3 nights at the Portixol. Cant fault it - so relaxing, staff all very helpful. Food outstanding.
