Phi Phi Hill Resort

I have rated my overall experience as above average because you cannot fail to be amazed by the fantastic views over to Phi Phi Leh from the restaurant/terrace, and the bungalows are a good size and clean. Long Beach itself is fantastic - quite spacious even in high season and the longtail boats that shuttle between there and Ao Ton Sai 5 minutes away did not really bother me. Great location on Long Beach which is a lot quieter than the main part of Phi Phi but with good access with taxi boats always available. The views make the 80 steps worth it- it's only bad the first time that you clim it because you're tired from lugging your bags. Rooms are very large and clean. Food in the restaurant is great value and although not all of the staff speak English they are more than willing to help out and are extremely friendly. Absolutely loved this place and would highly recommend it.

First, it was not easy to book the bungalow directly through the resort. I guess we were planning too far in advance for the laid-back Thai beach style. There was some confusion on the phone and also through email, but it was settled in the end. We stayed in a sunset air-conditioned bungalow, which was at the head of a row of bungalows, one with a decent view, actually (bungalow T2). We found the PhiPhi Hill resort on a website that glamorized it, making it sound like a 4 star resort... IT IS NOT! After arriving our party and others decided on finding a new place for the following night. The view is great because it is an exhausting ~100 stairs from the beach. The accommodations are sub par, at best. In fact when we used the overpriced internet, the most recent searches (and there was a lot of them) were for hotels on Phi Phi. I have very recently returned from Thailand and unfortunately Phi Phi Hill is not a place I would recommend. I actually booked online for 6 nights and paid 1000 baht per night for a 'sunset view bungalow', my first gripe is that this is a blatent rip off, only 1 or at a push 2 of the sunset view bungalows truly have anything like what u can call a view, all the others have nothing like a decent view, and are therefore in no way different what so ever to the sunrise bungalows which are significantly cheaper(650 baht per night). I have to give this place a really good review. First of all, it is UP a hill, a big hill, but definitely worth the climb. Phi Phi is a little pricey, but this place is a deal. I stayed in a fan, sunrise bungalow, right on the edge of a cliff, with an amazing view! All for the bargin price of 650 baht ( about $18 ) a really great price for this island. I loved staying on long beach, which is only a short long boat ride away from the ferry and all the busy action, so its great for anyone looking to stay close, but at a very beautiful , quiet... more

I'll start this review with some postive feedback, for the sake of being fair. This hotel is in a prime position on Long Beach, and affords spectacular views over the ocean, provided you can cope with the steep stairs up to the top of the hill. The bungalows have nice balconys, good for star gazing in the evenings. Apart from that, my experience of staying here was not a good one. For 1500 baht high season I wasn't expecting the world but when our ferry arrived on Phi Phi and nobody from the hotel was there to meet us as promised (this is standard from most places if you book in advance) I was already annoyed and when they wouldn’t answer the phone I was angry. In the end we stumped up the 80 baht each fee to take a longboat to the hotel which is on long beach. Just got back from 5 days staying at this resort. If you can cope with a gruelling climb up the hill to get to this place, then you'll be rewarded with fantastic views across long beach and over to phi phi ley and phi phi don. It's restaurant is superb and the bungalows are basic but extremely good value for money compared to the silly prices being charged throughout phi phi. Phi Phi Hill resort has stunning views, quiet and clean bungalows, and great food on the terrace overlooking views of Phi Phi Ley. This is the best place to stay on Long Beach if you want tranquility but bear in mind it is a boat ride from the main tourist part of Phi Phi Don, where many restaurants and bars are. However, local Thais are willing to take you back to Long Beach both day and night - if the price is right! Perfect
