Park South: excellent overall
Best place in my 5-hotel stay in these days in New York (jumping from a place to another to avoid dropping _several_ extra hundred dollars on the floor...): * excellent rate booked online (and I _mean_ excellent) * spacious room (for the NYC standards anyway) * very clean * in-room Internet at DSL speed included in rate * continental breakfast included in rate * 40mt to the 28th street 4,5,6 metro lines stop Definitely the place I'll want to try and book for future trips in NYC.
Depends on who is at the front desk.
I have stayed at the Park South Hotel on different occasions (all booked via quikbook.com) - perhaps 5 trips in all. Three of those times my room was excellant, beautiful, small but well designed and clean. Two of those times - not! I arrived one afternoon and I was given a supposedly non-smoking room that "reeked" of stale cigarettes and when asked to be moved they put me up one floor, same room and that one had a percular odor as well. Both of these rooms seems to be the "cheap seats" and falling apart, dark, dank and I couldn't wait to... more
Recommended, boutique hotel.
We would return here. The hotel is very clean and well appointed, and well positioned for seeing the sites, in midtown. It was also pretty competitive at about £100 a night INCUDING taxes etc. and including a good continental style buffet breakfast (it was cheaper to book online with 3rd party than directly with hotel). We had a lovely big double-double room (views not great though). Beds were very comfy too. Restaurant and bar in the Hotel is quite pricey, but the food is good and the whisky measures large. Hotel itself is... more
Alternative to overpriced New York rooms
Great place. New rooms. Nice location.
Will surely return
Stayed at the Park South for 6 nights a month ago. Excellent value for money. Very nice and clean rooms; be sure to ask for a room that isn't facing other rooms air conditioners (difficult to block out the noice at night). Staff was very helpful (ask them if you need a ride to the airport, much cheaper than other services), great breakfast and ok bar in the evenings. You can't get a better location, 50 meters to the no 6 subway. We got a deal on the Internet, but even at standard rates the Park South is worth a stay. Will surely return.
Park South
Great little hotel - within walking distance of Fifth Avenue, and very reasonably priced. The room was a bit small, but had two double beds and was very clean. The only downside was that the room we were in backed on to the air conditioning system for the hotel, which was really noisy - not ideal if you find it hard to sleep! Overall though, great value for money.
Like the hotel, but check your bill carefully
Have stayed at the Park South a couple of times now on business. Overall, the hotel is nice for the money. Likes: reasonable prices comfy beds/pilows clean rooms newspaper delivered to your door daily free breakfast - - good (cereals, fruit, muffins, toast, coffee) Good location Nice decor Dislikes: On 2 occassions have had charges on the bill that were not ours. They said, Oops it was supposed to be to another room. So, I recommend keeping up with any tabs at the bar, etc. and double... more
Fantastic - Can't say enough good things about it
It has been a few months since we stayed at the Park South Hotel, and it was before we discovered Trip Advisor, so we were nervous booking a place we hadn't seen, but it was amazing. We got it for well under the listed rates on their website - it was just over 150 a night when everyone else was charging hundreds (we booked last minute). It is not in Times Square, but it is right on a subway line, so it was very convenient to get around. The hotel itself is very luxurious. From the decor to the bedding, they pamper you from the... more
Smallest room ever but otherwise good
If you are traveling with a lot of luggage or plan on buying a lot or want a place to stay for a few nights and want to unpack and hang things up, don't even consider this hotel. Look for another one. This hotel has the smallest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. There is no closet and no nook in which to put a suitcase. If, however, you are traveling light and will be staying just a night or 2, this is a nice hotel although I didn't think it was a super bargain at $159 plus taxes which makes it $180 plus. No view, but our room on the 6th... more
Loved it!
This was my first trip to New York, and I wanted to do everything. The Park South Hotel was perfectly located for a first-timer - walking distance from Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminus, Greenwich Village, Flatiron, Lower Manhattan, and yards from the subway. The room was adequate in size, but it was only ever going to be a place to sleep in, shower then go out and explore. The hotel has all that a tourist needs - a fax in the room, free internet access, a good bar and restaurant that was well frequented by locals (always a good... more
