Restful vacation
I spent 2 weeks at the Sea Garden as part of a time share agreement with Mayan Palace Resorts. I was at first disappointed when I walked into the hotel but after 2 days, I changed my mind completely. It was not the 5 star of the Mayan Palaces but very comfortable. The beds were the most comfortble I have slept in at a hotel in a long time. The staff overall were very friendly and helpful. We had clean linens supplied daily and extras as soon as we asked for them. Loved having a kitchenette to cook our meals. It had all the basics for 6... more
Skip the Time Share SHARKS!
My hustand and I spent a week at Mazatlan Sea Garden from Jan 4-11th. I read reviews of the resort on Trip Advisor prior to our departure, and I wasn't expecting much. However, it was a bit better than I expected. We stayed in a newly renovated 2 bedroom unit. The rooms were very clean, but small. The 2nd bedroom is not appropriate for another couple. Maybe for 2 children??? It's just 2 bunk beds. We had a few issues, but they were bearable. The water temperature in the shower was nearly impossible to keep stable. It went from freezing... more
Beautiful Beach and Sunsets
I have never had any issues with the Seagarden in Mazatlan. Although the rooms are small, they are very clean. Housekeeping comes in everyday to clean and do your dishes if you like. The front desk has always been very attentive to any need that I ask for. The beds are hard. The beach is wonderful and never crowded and the resort has beautiful grounds. It is a property of Mayan resorts and it is not a Mayan Palace if that is what you are used to since it is very small in comparison. But for those of you liking Mayan Palace, they are in the... more
Traveler Beware!!!!!!!
Wow!!!!!! Is this place ever a dump!!!! Beware!!!! We had booked two weeks at this resort in Dec. 2003 and it was so terrible that we left after the first week and thanks to the folks at El Cid we were able to get a booking for the second week at one of their wonderful properties! The 2 bedroom units at the Sea Garden Vidafel are just terrible and not well maintained and not particularly clean. Our first two bedroom unit was one of their "recently remodeled" units and it was clean enough, but the air conditioner could not be turned off... more
Important facts you need to know.
Rooms need updating badly. Some plumbing problems. Mstr bedrm OK but second bedrm like sleeping on sand bags. Spoke to other guests there and they agreed. Mattresses really aren't what we call a mattress. Approx 3" thick and hard as a rock. No bar except a small pool bar that closes at 6pm. Have to leave premises if you want a night cap. Same with food. Restaurant only has special meal each evening and again pool bar serves a few things but closes too early. The pool is gorgeous and you also have a beach. The doormen are great guys and a big... more
Recent stay at Sea Garden
Hi - I took my kids to Sea Garden for two weeks in Nov. We were supposed to have a 2 brm suite and were first given a very small unit with only very hard pull out couches in 2nd brm, not like any bed we would every sleep on. When we complained enough we were given a better unit after a few days. We found it very far out and cost a lot of $ on taxis back and forth. The hotel rest were OK but were expensive and did not offer much variety. The bell boys were fabulous and helped make our stay. We had a great meal at Casa Country, Ponchos. Went... more
Not a luxurious resort, but has some good points
A disclaimer: We own a week at the Mayan Palace in Puerto Vallarta, and knew we were trading down when we booked Sea Garden in Mazatlan. The Mayan Palace booking agent made this very clear when we made the reservation. This is a small-scale resort with limited amenties and it is not really oriented toward luxury-seeking U.S. tourists. We stayed at this resort during the week beginning October 31, 2003. The weather was absolutely perfect; the best weather we've ever enjoyed in Mexico. And the Mazatlan coastline is spectacular. The... more
So many nicer places!
I don't know how Vidafel ranks in price, because we had a timeshare trade, but it was the only place in the tropics that had room for two families at Christmas. (So we didn't expect much, fortunately.) First we were given rooms with a bad view because we forgot that little transaction that moves things along in Mexico... But they moved us when we complained. It's miles away from everything else (which you might like), and Christmas-before-last it was cooler than ususal on the coast. The taxis are open-air, so we froze at night coming all... more
mediocre with small rooms and unreliable elevators
Rooms are very small, food is OK, but not that great. They do have a playground area for small children but it is in disrepair and not that safe. Constant work was underway and was very loud: one of the pools was out of order, the elevator lobby was being demolished, and one elevator malfunctioned every single day (no kidding). Being on the 10th floor, it was a bit unnerving having to rely on elevators that were constantly breaking down. Staff were courteous, but not friendly. Beach is rocky with big waves (not suitable for children). They... more
Paradise Hotel
If the beautiful views of the surrounding area doesnt appeal to you, wakening up every morning beside your loved one to hear the soft sound of the ocean will. The Sea Garden holds in my personal high recommendation because of the comfortable home like room settings, astonishing tasteful food, wonderful and attentive service at all hours. This hotel allows fun in the sun from sundown to sunrise. With the many activities, for not only the adults but if youre accompanied by children. Since the hotel is located away from the hectic downtown in... more
