Maafushivaru

This island has had a really tasteful refurbishment. The style is relaxed but with stylish contemprary twists! Sand floors almost throughout the public areas makes you feel so relaxed and chilled out from the moment you arrive, but it's not basic in any way. The decor is funky. I loved lounging in the hammocks on the beach and chilling out by the pool at night - there are little lights in the pool that look like stars - it's gorgeous! Having just returned from this wonderful island, booked through Kuoni, I can throughly recommend this very small maldivian island. Just 25 mins by sea plane from Male all inclusive would be the best option. The beach villas are great I'm not quite sure about the 'Chic' decor of the outside bathrooms but apart from that they are fine. The water villas are nice but again I have issues with the bathroom as I think there should be some frosted glass or something similar in the shower cubicle as we felt a bit exposed! I have just returned from this astonishing island this month. It has just finished it's complete renovation by Kuoni and they themselves along with the General Manager there Tim need a well deserved pat on the back. All the rooms are in stunning locations on the beautiful beaches. The beach villas are a really good size, air conditioned with mini fridge re stocked daily and a tv with satellite. I visited Maafushivaru in the first week of November 2010. Having been to several other Maldivian resorts (Velassaru, Kuramathim, Sheraton and Kurumba) this island is easilly my favourite. The beaches were poweder soft a dazzling, and the coral around the island was in a much better condition than some of the others I have visited meaning the snorkelling was great. The Kuoni Exclusive island of Maafushivaru is a typically Maldivian paradise and was everything I ever expected from the Maldives. A visit to the island has left me with everlasting memories of the shear natural beauty from watching the sun set on the uninhabited sister island and experiencing the tropical marine life found just meters away from the edge of the island.

If you are looking for perfection, and simply will not surface for anything less, then read on..... I have travelled and stayed at various Maldivian properties, and all I can say is this Island beats all of them. With its soft white sand, clear water and picturesque beauty there is really no need to look further than this island! Understated luxury with ‘can do’ staff make the perfect combination, with Maafushivaru’s private island the jewel in the crown for those romantic moments that will never be forgotten.

I stayed at Maafushivaru in June 2010 and loved it! I went with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised that the Maldives isn’t just for honeymooners. We stayed in water villas, which are beautiful, enjoyed all the facilities such as snorkelling and beach volleyball, and had the most amazing dinner arranged for us on the beach with candles and lobster. I’ve been to five different islands in the Maldives and the beaches and surroundings at Maafushivaru are my favourite :-)

If you want a holiday in paradise, this is the place to go. The weather was perfect, staff friendly and food great. The water villas are set out to sea so the views of the ocean are incredible, and there was no light or sound pollution so I had a great night’s sleep. The snorkelling was fantastic, with stingrays, thousands of multi-coloured fish and baby sharks – and the dive centre was fully equipped with expert instructors. After a few years of my Italian boyfriend going on about this gem of an island in the Maldives – we made it to Maafushivaru. We splashed out a bit on a pool villa – but it was worth it - unbelievable views of the lagoon from two sides of the room!! We had a private sunbathing deck from which we could access the lagoon – perfect for a power swim. Snorkeling was amazing – just straight off the jetty.
