The Pros and Cons
This past January, we spent 12 memoralbe days at Las Hadas. Whe we first arrived in the early afternoon, we decided to go down to the Los Dophines (excuse the spelling), which is an upscale restaurant along the beach/bay in Las Hadas. Two B+ main courses and two A- drinks each we got the bill. OVER $74, leaving a bad taste in our mouth. We learned quickly that eating at Las Hadas can be very very expensive.Fortunately, we had done a lot of research on places to eat around Manzanillo and found some outstanding restaurants to eat at. Our... more
Had a great time this resort is beautiful
Just got back from a wonderful 3 nights at the Brisas Las Hadas. The resort was full this week with all the mexican families vacationing for holy week. It was very refreshing to be in the minority for a change. The grounds are beautiful and clean. The rooms clean, had no problem with hot water or airconditioners. Had no problem with our bill on checkout. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. We only ate lunch by the pool at the resort and found the food quite good and the price was not bad. We had a car so were able to go out... more
Las Hadas Could Use A Little Magic
Gorgeous gardens and architecture are not enough for this Grande Dame to maintain her 5 star rating. Where is the fitness room? It's stuck in a dark hole off one of the plazas and has no cardio equipment at all, no attendant and no amenities. The weights looked ancient. 5 star food? No! Inconsistent service and food abound in this resort. Coconut shrimp at Los Delfines was superb, but the red snapper and chicken breast were both overcooked and dry. Caprese salad was made with hard, unripe tomatoes at Legazpi where one rib steak dish... more
Beautiful hotel - amenities just OK
My husband and I came to Manzanillo from Vancouver for our honeymoon on an Alaska Airlines Vacation. We got the Brisas Beach Club option since this was my first trip to Mexico. I thought the staff was very nice, the front desk person upgraded us to a beautiful suite. The pool was wonderful. For such a beautiful place with a long history, however, I also expected it to be more full. The rooms, including the bathroom, were musty and the AC was somewhat noisy. The all white interior was nice, but it shows every dirt mark which can be quite a... more
A Good Adult Hotel
Bad side: Matresses are hard, food and drink are "American Prices", kids would probably be better elsewhere since it is focused for adults. Neutral side: Beach is sheltered so its nice and safe year-round, however this means no surfing, bodysurfing or boogeyboarding, but its great for other sports such as kayaking. It's next to a Marina. The hotel is centrally located between the 2 bays but on a secluded area, you'll need taxis if you are dressed-up to go to dinner, however the distance by foot to town is a very nice 20 minute walk.... more
Nobody Home
Most of the reviews of this resort give it 5 stars or 1 star, but it is definitely somewhere in the middle. For every good thing about this place - there is something that will make you mad. The architecture is beautiful: set in a hillside with intricate cobblestone and tile walkways. Nice bay setting with a good beach and marina. Nice size rooms with great views. The problems stem from the fact that there are very few people here! We were there in high season and the place was about 25% full. Some visitors believe it has to do... more
Loved our stay at Las Hadas
We were luck to have stayed at Las Hadas for 12 days/11 nights (Dec 7 Dec 18, 2003). We had a fanatic time the resort is lovely, a true most see location. The staff was friendly and most helpful we have never had should excellent service at other five star resorts. We also read the negative reviews posted by other visitors that were over charged; this did not happen to us nor to anyone we meet during our stay. Our package had daily breakfast and a happy hour. We loved the package we would have breakfast and happy hour at Las Hadas and head... more
Almost Makes It to 5 Stars
Magnificent architecture and landscaping, great pool and golf, nice beach. However, management has not made the commitment to bring this up to five stars. Non-Mexican food is very poor. Rooms have problems such as slow hot water, musty AC system, broken ceiling fans. Confusion abounds as to scheduling of meals, all-inclusives, etc. Communication of services to guests is poor.
Best Vacation Ever
Dec. 8th-12th,2003. LasHadas. Everything that I had read that was negative about Las Hadas in previous reviews turned out to be untrue in our case. We were not overcharged for anything. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I can't say enough how beautiful the whole hotel complex looks. Its so nice to not to have to get on an elevator to go to your room- lots of villa type rooms that are all beautiful white. The La Matarraya golf course was absolutely beautiful - every hole was very distinctive and very well... more
Sadly Disappointed
On our returning to Las Hadas Nov 16, we expected the same wonderful experience the reviewer from Thousand Oaks describes below. We booked a Club Room Junior Suite. The last time we stayed in Las Hadas (several years ago, before it was bought by Las Brisas group), we were told we would be eligible on our next visit for a free upgrade to a Junior Suite with a pool, if one was available. On check in, we were told that the Las Brisas group does not allow free upgrades, and that they watch every dollar closely. The clerk presented us with a list... more
