Hotel Balmes

Me and my partner we've stayed in Balmes Hotel for 10 nights in April on a half board basis.
The hotel itself is nicely located only 2 minutes walking from the beach and all the shops and restaurants. Rooms are nice, comfortable and very clean, bathroom really spacious and clean. Our room was serviced every day with clean towels etc.
Breakfast was nice continental option, not a cooked english as there is no english tourists. Dinner was to be honest not a very good value but you would always find something to eat and would not be hungry.
Some staff speak english well, some just a bit but that's how it is in spain.
It is definitely not a British hotel or resort. Not many Brits, mostly Spanish people and Germans.
Also by the reception there is an internet lounge with sofas and free wifi (unlimited anytime) which is a great advantage.
If you need a quiet location then this hotel and resort is for you, as the night life doesn't exist there which was what we were looking for so it was perfect for us.
Airport is not more then 10 minutes by bus which stops 5 minutes walk from the hotel and it is bus number 21 and costs £2 per person each way. No need for a taxi as the bus connection is perfect. The fact that the airport is so close doesn't disturb at all, as the air traffic noise could be barely heard.
Palma is not far away, you can rent a bicycle (around 5 - 8 euro a day from multiple locations just by the hotel) and get there in 30 minutes. There is plenty of bicycle tracks along the beach in can pastilla leading to palma itself. Other option is to take bus number 15 or 30 which stops by the burger king and it takes about 15minutes to get to Palma (1.25 euro flat rate no matter where you go by bus one way - make sure to have a change ready for the bus driver).
Good tip is a small ice cream shop just next to Burger King which sells the best and the cheapest scoops of ice creams in can pastilla only 0.90 euro per scoop. Home made ice cream with lots of different flavours - do not over pay anywhere else, you will always find a lot of tourists queueing there. Absolutely beautiful ice creams!
There is a supermarket called Eroski just 5 minutes walk from the hotel (when you walk out of the hotel go right and turn right again by the chinese restaurant). there are also few Spar supermarkets in the area but more expensive the Eroski.
Overall great clean hotel and great location, with very easy access to airport and palma.
