Islander Resort

We have stayed at Casa Morada and were apprehensive going to the Islander. We were wonderfully surprised! The rooms are great (Casa Morada's bedding is better) Very spacious, very clean, very updated. There is also a kitchenette which is very handy. The pools are great (although I could do without "50 cent" blasting at the pool) The service was terrific, the food was great. Walking distance to the Lorelei which is a terrific bar/sunset watch. I highly recommend the Islander. We are going back next month! Great hotel!

everything about our stay was excellent.we got the romance package.the room was very nice,the food great.the weather could have co-operated better.we had some cool temps with rain,but we still had a great time.went to the lorrili resturant which was good.the entertainment was great.went to the fish market.the meal was good there.bentleys resturant was also good.hubby went fishing on the party boat.his deep sea fishing was cx because of the weather.very nice area.also went to the carrabean club in key largo.hubbys whole visit for the trip.we... more

We just returned from a week's stay at the Islander Resort. It was awesome! The rooms are very clean and The kitchens are great! The bathroom is a little small, but it didn't matter. The screened in porches are very nice. The Blue Water Tiki Bar was a great place to hang out and meet other people. The staff was very friendly. The beach is huge, the pool area is wonderful and the pier was great as well. We have no complaints except the traffic, but that is not the hotel's fault. We will be back!

Last week my family and I went to Islamorda during February vacation. It was a wonderful experience. All of the rooms have kichenettes and porches. If you have kids this a great place!!!! And even if you don't have kids and are just on a nice getaway this is the place to be!!!!! There is a beautiful beach that you can swim in but it is not great swimming. You can rent many water sport non-moterized vechilces though (including aqua cycles). There are two great pools and a very nice jacuzzi. One pool is salt water and the other is freshwater.... more

...selecting the Islander is a sure bet! After 20 hours of travel to meet my entire family (11) for Christmas, I was greeted by warm-hearted, night-shift personnel who explained the best (and shortest) path to my room; one who was willing to have small chats as I surfed the net (the resort WiFi equipped!) and recovered from jet lag. The pools and jacuzzi, friendly bar (that played great music) and onsite fishing pier kept us all together and occupied without crowding each other. Spent a family (11) vacation over the Christmas Holidays. Accommodations were very comfortable and lovely, pools enjoyable, continental breakfast excellent, staff pleasant and helpful, on site restaurant very good (some lunches and Christmas Dinner) and the view spectacular. All in all a wonderful time, and would heartily recommend the Islander.

WHAT A TRIP! We Key-Hopped for six days in early June, and found a world of difference on all keys. This place, by far, was our best find in the entire Key area. Not a lot to do for nightlife.....Slimeys (a close bar) is okay, but across the street there is a great open air bar. The motel is straight out of the 1960's.....think Rob and Laura Pertie go to Florida. There are grills to use, two great pools, and a LOT of privacy. The beach was BY FAR the best in the keys. If you want the ambience of the Keys, without any of the "grumginess" - this is the place to stay. My husband and I went on a diving vacation to the Keys. We loved the fact that there was a tidy and very functional kitchenette in the room.The floor being made out of tile was another plus. (There's nothing worse than smelly carpets) The salt water pool and the fresh water pools were excellent. Having the Tikki bar was definetely a plus. They have a continental breakfast - which was excellent. Do yourself a favor and check them out!!

We stayed at the Islander upon the recommendation of a waitress from a nearby restaurant after we decided not to continue our drive to Key West. It was a one night, spur of the moment thing and we were a little taken aback by the "barracks" appearance of the buildings, but upon entering our room, our entire opinion changed! My stay at the Islander resort with my wife and 2 daughters was great. The construction is virtually completed with only a bit going on at the east end of the property and it was not at all bothersome. The Tiki bar is nice and serves great food although a bit pricey. The staff and management were very helful. The property is large and fairly well kept. The actualy beach area is large with lots of room to lounge. My wife, daughters and I were disappointed that we could not swim there. It is NOT a beach like Daytona or St.... more
