Hyatt Sunset Harbor Resort

As lovers of places warm and tropical we simply could not pass on the chance to share our experience with you. We booked this resort on a whim as an impromptu getaway. I am happy to report that we could not have been happier with our choice. This resort is far and above what one would expect in a "near third world" environment such as Key West. Just got back today from the Hyatt Sunset. What a lovely, charming hotel! Only 2 blocks from Duval and Mallory Square. Great hot, sunny weather. Almost too hot, so dress very light. KW is very casual, nothing but shorts and tank tops everywhere, even at night. We got a 1 BR suite for my husband and I, and 2 teen boys. Very roomy, it was more like a big apartment. We spent 4 days at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor, and overall, it was a great place. It's in a great location, right by Mallory Square and Duvall street, has nice rooms with great balconies and a great pool area. The condo was nicely decorated, fairly large, and very clean. We stayed in a one bedroom condo, with our 2 teenagers sleeping in the living room. If we had to do it over, we would get a 2 bedroom. We stayed at The Hyatt Sunset Harbor Resort and absolutely loved it! We stayed in a STUDIO for $110/night and it was well worth every cent, being on a budget and all! The studio included a mini-fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and even a blender on request! The room was perfect for my husband and I...although the bedroom was small, the bathroom was huge with a full size whirlpool tub, huge walk-in shower, separate sink/toilet area. We were able to book at the special rate of $110 for the one night we stayed there. Apparently this deal comes along often so look for it when you are planning. The location was great. Just a two minute walk from all the action of Duval and Mallory Square. If you plan on taking a boat trip anywhere, this is a great place to stay cause all the boats leave right from here. We were in unit 532 - 2 br, 3bath townhouse over looking the harbor. Being a 2 floor townhouse, the unit has 2 balconys - one off the living room and one off the master bedroom. The view is excellant as unit faces west and provides a perfect location to watch the Key West sunsets. The unit was nicely decorated and in good conditon and was larger than I was expecting - probably 1300 sf. There is no doubt that Building 5 is the best location on the property due to the view. We stayed here in a "studio" just after New Year's 2005. Although this is primarily a timeshare resort, we got the room as a hotel room via Hyatt's website for a great price ($110/night). The location is fantastic, along the harbor. Pool area is very nice, great spa. Everything was clean and new looking. We appreciated having a small fridge and microwave in our room so we could have our own breakfasts, drinks, and snacks. The hotel is really nice. We had a suite´, it was very nice, with balcony. There is a nice pool area and the hotel is in the center of Key West so yoiu don´t need a car to go somewhere. One problem we had(that´s why I can´t give excellent!) was that the rooms were not clean enough when we arrived. I complained and somebody was there at once. We are absolutely in love with Key West and loved this property, that is why we bought into it. Location is excellent, right beside the Truman annex and steps from Duval but in a quiet alcove of old Key West. On our last stay however, we noticed that the individuals units were quite worn - with scratched and sagging furniture and beds, faded rugs and curtains and the housekeeping was not up to par - we found hairs (not ours) on the bed and sofa, and the floors were not immaculate. We are about to venture on year number 4 here, and we are so happy with the Hyatt sunset harbor. It is tucked away at the end of Front street, nestled in nect to Truman annex. It is hard to find if you don't know where it is. It is it's own private oasis, right on the water where you rent jet skis, boat slips, and cruise ships pull in. There is activity to watch from your balcony, or you can lounge at the pool, which is surrounded by tropical foliage. the staff is wonderful, there is a library of books you can check out.
