Hotel San Gabriel

Ronda is an interesting city and worth the stay. The hotel is nice but not wonderful for my taste. Very classical furniture. Big problems with car park. There is no evident place to park your car and a very efficient police ! Nice but next time I'll try another hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in October 2005 at the end of a touring holiday of Andalucia. We first saw the hotel in the book “Special Places to Stay – Spain” by Alistair Sawday and then were encouraged by the reviews on this site. I would agree with everything the previous reviewers said. This is a great little hotel, decorated thoughtfully with antiques down to the photographs. I was surprised that nobody mentioned the wine cellar, where an open bottle of good wine awaits the discerning guest. The youthful staff, who spoke good english, did everything to make our stay in Ronda comfortable. For minimum hassle, book your parking with the hotel when reserving your room. This was my favorite hotel in Spain! We spent 2 nights here, and I truly wished I could have spent far more time here. The Hotel San Gabriel is simply beautiful - there is no other way to put it. When one first walks through the door, they feel truly at home. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the common areas are comfortably furnished. The salon has the look and feel of one's own living room. The patio, while small, has a soothing fountain and ivy covered walls and is the perfect place to relax in the early evening before dinner.... more

We stayed in this hotel for one night in August 2005 - we had four rooms - each individual, Spanish and very beautiful. We booked the hotel because of the rave reviews we read on trip advisor. There were however negative reviews of the breakfast - we found this to be an elegant meal, freshly pressed orange juice, fresh coffee, some of the best bread we had come across in Spain, and home made confitures and a small bowl of gazpacho and cheese - wonderful! Highly recommended. Would love to return.

We loved this hotel. It is very charming and the staff are very friendly. They speak English very well. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They have a "movie room" so our son could watch his DVD's, we played backgammon in the courtyard and enjoyed a bottle of wine. They graciously supplied the corkscrew and glasses! This was our favorite hotel based on charm, value, and friendliness. I wish we could have found them all to be like this.

We chose this hotel because of the great reviews on the Tripavisor website, and the friendly and efficient email response to our enquiries. The San Gabriel exceeded our expectations in all areas, and was the best of the 5 hotels visted on our Andalucian tour, and the least expensive! Particular praise must be given to the managent & staff, whose warmth and willingness to please were exceptional. We really felt cared for in 'our home in Ronda' (which is their tagline).

Really enjoyed our stay. Room 11 was very spacious and the room and hotel had a real Spanish feel. Simple breakfast but vey nice, freshly squeezed orande, coffee, toasted rolls, cheese and jams - well worth E6. The hotel recommended a fantastic modern tapas-wine bar, I think it was called Goto de vin, anyway it was over the bridge, back from the main square. Great wines and food.

Stayed here just a few days ago... based on the reviews on this site. And yes, it really is lovely. Parking is a nightmare, but once negotiated the rooms have so much character and attention to detail that you feel relaxed. Staff were very helpful and flexible (we changed rooms) and the access to the main parts of Rhonda are but minutes away. Breakfast (6€) was little more than a couple of rolls, so a bit unimaginative, but as a hotel of character it was fantastic.
