Distinctly Poor.....7 reasons why not to visit this hotel
3 / 10
Aug 2011, Ian mac

1. enjoy the cosmopolitan feel of the restaurant.....there are loads of different football tops to spot at meal times
2. Brush up on your foreign language skills?......don't worry about learning Greek as all the staff are bulgarian.
3. save on sun cream.....the sun beds are so close together you won't need your own suncream. You can just rub in the splashes you receive from your neighbours.
4 it's a home from home .....don't worry about dressing for dinner as no one else does. The canteen self service restaurant makes you realise that your works canteen isn't that bad after all
5 make new friends easily......the pool is so small and over crowded you are bound to bump into someone ( literally)
6 improve your immune system.....the grubby sun beds probably harbour so many bacteria you can't fail to improve your immune system
7 you won't be bored... enjoy playing the new game of "spot the person WITHOUT the tatoo"
Seriously...if you want value for money...look elsewhere......like Turkey

After reading the reviews i was a little worried about holidaying here, however, the Ledra, is lovely. The rooms are a decent size, all you need as your not sitting in them all day, but with very nice modern, clean decor.
there is a mini bar, which contains water and soft drinks which is freee to use, and is filled up each morning,. the cleaners were lovely and very patient, if you decided to have a "lay in" in the mornings.
The food was delicious. On talking to the locals, the only other hotel that beats the Ledra is the Amathus. which apparently is very expensive and is usually full of over 60's,
the Ledra staff were so nice, we got married down at another restaurant in paphos, but the ledra staff ensured that my dress was hung on a proper rail, and that we had champagne, and fruit in our room. There were really nice.
ANdrea, who works in the Make Up, and fitness centre is lovely. She has the patience of a saint, and works in the pool bar in the evening. Lovely lassie.
the entertainment was a little reptative, but the animation team were lovely. We did make suggestions for changes of routine...which i hope the animation team carry out.
Overall this was a lovely hotel, with a very competitve priced shop housed in it. there is a supermarket accross the road, and also a place to book excursions. But i would walk a little further down to the next set of shops on the right and book excursions there, it is cheaper.
There is a bus stop 300 yards, down the road too, buy a 2euro ticket which lasts all day where ever you need to go.
we will defo be returning to the Ledra, Lovely place.....(if you're to get married, I'd look around, its a bit like a conveyor belt,. with as many as 5 weddings in one day, we witnessed this, i was very glad we got wed further dwon the town in a restaurant.).

  • Advice: Do not use for weddings, it like a conveyor Belt of bride in, bride out......look around.....

I recently spent 2 weeks at the Ledra Beach hotel in Pathos. It was the best holiday I have had for years. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, and the entertainment staff consisting of Will, Tony, Naomi and Gaga, were absolutely brilliant. The food quality was very good and catered for all tastes. Rooms were very pleasant and comfortable and spotlessly clean. I would definately recommend this hotel and would love to return very soon.

Louis group are taking back the Iberostar Ledra beach having owned it previously so it's going thru a period of change! Toilets are in need of replacement! people were washing their shoes After a visit to the poolside ones!!! yuk.
My son just got married here and it was nice and yes most of the staff were friendly. However I cant help feeling they were ripped off. (they are happy) but I could see how little things were adding up and being changed. Be sure you know exactly what time you want to be married. after 4pm .....it was very hot! paying extra for thompson rep to ensure decorated chairs and flowers were present was a rip off as anyone would have thought it were standard!! maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy or more clever with my money??
I am concerned, having sat on the beach and watched several local families use the facilities, swim in the pool, help themselves to food at poolbar and then leave at the end of the day!! I wonder how it is they monitor who is a paying guest (I took my wristband off for my sons wedding and never replaced it) I wandered around ate drank and was not questioned once nor was my husband!!
Dont expect too much Greek charm as most staff are completing the practical part of a degree and from bulgaria and romania etc.
Beach is never swept of fag buts or rubbish and would appear sunloungers are never wiped down urrgghhh!
Restuarant is open til 10pm.....we went in at 9.40pm one evening and every table free was set for breakfast. The waitress wasnt very helpfull we ended up having to clear a table to sit on ( 2 more couples had same problem behind us) we found ourselves having to grab food before it was removed!!! 9.57pm it started to be wheeled out to the kitchen. Then we felt uncomfortable and a nuisance to staff. Every meal felt rushed. not a relaxing enviroment at all.
Food sadly repetetive and very little in the way of traditional dishes. Cereals were cheep, vile and cardboard flavour! Dress code is pathetic as staff members often sat late in the restaurant in t shirts, shorts and flip flops and no ....they wernt junior members of staff!
Taxis.........beware!!! our driver was texting whilst driving and I was petrfied. It was booked on grounds of hotel. (cab office on site)
It's not the most expensive place to stay but it's not cheep and it fell short of our expectations. Ive not travelled much but I'm old enough and wise enough to know that the it could have been better.

Travelled with three generations. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Any problems were addressed immediately. There was a wide choice of foods and it tasted good enough. The Kids Club saved our bacon and allowed the adults to have a holiday too. Even though not advertised, there was a teens club also and our 12 year old experienced things he'd never done before. Our 6 year old loved the evening mini disco c/o Harriet, before bed!
The Animation Team were great with the exception of the Samba dance class, which was more about that team member's dance moves than teaching. Learnt how to play French Boules. Great fun. Highly recommended as quite an international hotel. If you can cope with the more ignorant travellers staring because you don't look as dreadful as they do, then go for it!!!

Couldnt have had a better time. We got married there last year and am trying to convince my husband to go back for an anniversary holiday this year! We went with my 3 kids and family and friends of all ages and everyone said it was their best holiday ever. The staff were friendly and funny, our wedding coordinator was amazing, the food was fantastic - really well cooked and always lots of variety (i came back a few pounds heavier).
Its perfect for families as my kids loved the kids club, and even when its not on, Laura the leader would have swarms of kids that she was happy for them to trail around after her. Its safe, clean, lovely location, loved it!! The rooms are a little small, but why would you need to be in there for too long? Get out in the sunshine! It really is ideal for groups and families, if you want a cosy couple holiday then possibly not for you, but I would go back any day, with or without the kids!

Ledra Beach, Cyprus

Myself and a group of 15 of us ( 7 adults, one 9 year old, three 15 year olds, two 17 year olds and two 18 year olds) stayed at Ledra beach last year for 2 weeks, all inclusive and the only word I can possibly use to describe the whole holiday was incredible. We have all been away together before last time to Dominican republic,The Carribean. That holiday was amazing but we all agreed that Cyprus topped it! The food was brilliant and varied throughout our whole stay, the accomodation was fantastic as we were all in ground floor rooms with patios that came out right by the pool and were amazing to sit on at night, the rooms were always kept spotlessly clean. The location was brilliant as myself and the other teenagers were allowed to walk into town to bar street which was only a short 15 minute walk away! We also loved going to Fiesta Bar (5 minute walk from the hotel, turn left as you come out of hotel and you will see big, white modern looking building with flashing multi - coloured lights on opposite side of the road) and could be found having cocktails and dancing there every night.. We all really got to know the young bar staff and had such a good laugh (We were even given t-shirts and free drinks;)) I have to say that for any family or groups that want to go away and have teenagers that want to go out but you want them to be safe this is definately the place. We went to Bar street around 5 times and loved it every time, all bars and clubs are free entry and are run by young lads and girls that are there to give you a good time. We were very lucky as we had three older boys with us who stayed fairly sober and looked after us more vunerable girls but nothing happened and the staff in the bars kept us totally safe! For adults and younger children (aswell as the teens) the entertainment in the hotel is expetional both in the day and at night, the entertainment reps are fantastic and we formed close relationships with them and we are all still in contact! The beach is amazing and I would persuade you to try the watersports and snorkelling as there are some amazing fish.. I am a total sun goddess and the weaher was nothing less than perfect the whole time we were there (The rooms were beautifully air-conditioned so that was not a problem)
Unfortunately we were not able to go back together this year as were all growing up and doing our own thing.. But we have already started discussing it for summer 2010 so fingers crossed! I have given this hotel and Cyprus the 10 out of 10 it deserves and would persuade anyone who was looking to BOOK IT RIGHT NOW - you won't regret it, there is something for everyone and you won't be disssapointed!
Advice I would give is - if your going into the town and harbour WALK we took a minibus once and the guy ripped us off! Also try out activities outside the hotel like go-karting and the water park! For teenagers or young adults I would really recommend the incredible party boats which determine a lot of fun and a bloody good tan :D

We had a lovely holiday at Ledra Beach. Most of the staff are friendly but as usual you get the few who are not. The rooms were in need of an update. We hardly had any water coming out of our shower. We reported it but nothing was ever done about it. It is definitely not a 4 star plus resort. The food was excellent, there was everything that you could ever eat. Drinks were excellent too. The cleaniless was top class and the maid service was excellent. We would return to this hotel but would hire a car so that we could get out and have a look at the island, as we found sitting around the pool each day became a bit of a task. Also, we wonder what time people get up to put their towels on the beds as whenever we went to find two they were always taken. A good time had by all but disappointed with the rooms.

My family and I have stayed at the Ledra Beach four times now and we shall be returning for a fifth this coming summer. The best quality about the hotel has to be the entertainment. The daytime activities were great. My daughter especially enjoyed the teenage club. The night entertainment was the best because there was something for everyone. Mini disco for the kids, bingo for the teenagers and adults, the wonderful Dali who does the bingo made it so funny to take part in. At 10pm the entertainers put on a show for us - comedy shows, dance shows etc. The food was brilliant, you always had a large variety of choices to choose from. The rooms were comfortable and came with a mini fridge and a safe.
The hotel is right on the beach so in 2 minutes you were swimming in the sea or just sunbathing. My family and I absolutely adore this hotel and cannot wait to return.

  • Advice: Cannot fault it, the people so are friendly and the weather is amazing
  • Activities: The mountains and seeing all the Paphos villages.

Brady's Bridal Bash

May 2009, John Boy's Crew

We would just like to thank everyone at the Ledra beach for a fantastic holiday, especially John the waiter and Gina the poolside waitress, they really made our holiday Johnwas fantasic looking after us all as there was 43 of us in total all there for a wedding.
The rooms were very spacious fantastic views and clean and we like the fact that the mini bar was re-stocked every day (this was great)
The food was amazing both in the main restaurant and the poolside bar we couldn't fault it
The daytime activities were great and the animation team were fantastic really got on with everyone in the group both young and old ---- Will, John Boy say's HI, Tony, AJ, Naomi, Laura and Boris you were all great....Boris hope you are looking after my dad's hat.
The night time entertainment wasn't the best but by no means spoilt the holiday as we enjoyed the bingo especially when we won, which was most nights
The view is great, close to paphos harbour and good for the buses and also close to the water park.
Also the A La Carte restaurant is a must.
We look forward to coming back

We have just returned from 14 nights at the Ledra Beach on a half board basis. I would advise anyone using this hotel during the off peak season of the following:
The Pool Bar does not serve snacks during this time (not helpful to 1/2 board guests).
The Beach Bar is unavailable.
The Coffee shop is closed.
All meals are taken in the main restaurant.
The gala night does not take place, and neither do the themed dinner evenings although they were advertised outside the Restaurant.
No local water activities are available.
We would have appreciated knowing this via our tour operator before we booked.
The Activity team are operating and the following are available to guests each day apart from Wednesdays: Darts; Boules; Stretch Routine; Bingo; Aqua Aerobics; Mini Golf.
The hotel is welcoming and very well decorated downstairs, although the bedrooms are a little tired. Our sea view was via the empty hotel next door and through trees, and we were unable to change our room.
Paphos Harbour is lovely but you have to enter via the endless scratch card operators who pester you to attend the Lion Resorts presentation, which takes up 3 hours plus of your holiday.

Matt & Stacey's Wedding at Ledra Beach

We got married at Ledra Beach in Aug 08. The holiday/wedding was perfect from start to finish. Both the Thomas Cook rep & hotel management were a great help, very friendly & very approachable. The hotel is very nice with lots to do all day long. It has great entertainment staff (non pushey) who work both day & evening to ensure your never bored. The food is excellent, they cater for everyone & its available all day. Rooms are standard, being the wedding couple we was greeted with champagne & fruit, there is also a free mini bar which is constantly well stocked with water. The bathrooms could do with a bit of an update, but who goes away to stay in the bathroom! The hotel is a short 25 min walk to harbour and approx 15 mins walk to waterpark. Hair salon on the complex was nice, however do not make the mistake I did by telling the stylist your the bride as the price goes up dramatically for the same style your guest can have for cheaper! We had our wedding ceremony take place on the private terrace at the hotel, we then hired a horse & carraige to take us to the harbour & back, had our photographer take our wedding pics on the beach and hotel gardens & ended the evening with our guests in the hotels private function room for our 6 course meal along with your own private waitresses, dj etc. Beach is nice with the beach bar staying open until 12pm. Overall this hotel is well situated, well run and was a pleasure to stay at. We will definately be returning!
