As with other comments on this site,...

Oct 2006, Mrs S Knight

As with other comments on this site, the Ledra Beach does not stand up to it's 4 star rating due to the rooms being shabby and in dire need of an all over facelift.
The bathrooms also could do with a major facelift, shower tap combinations in the bathrooms leak, even when you change the settings on the combination taps the water still streams from the overhead shower, hand shower and bath tap all at once, so the shower curtain needs to be used at all times, it became quite annoying after a couple of days.
The chambermaid who was servicing our room however was lovely, very sweet! She folded the towels into beautiful swans for us every day and left a fresh flower for my sister and I every day, also the bed turn down service in the evening was a nice touch with a chocolate and flower left on the pillow. Overall that almost made up for the shabby decor in the room.
Common areas are fine and fairly well maintained. All of the reception, bar and waiting staff were all very friendly, courteous and attentive. For an all inclusive hotel the food was of a fairly good standard, usual buffet style serve yourself type set up, but nevertheless of a good standard.
I felt the Animation staff were very enthusiastic and overworked with very limited resources, they worked hard to try and give guests a varied and fun programme, which sometimes came across as a bit amateurish, but like I say there resources where very limited!

Oct 2006, Mrs J Butler

We have just spent 2 weeks at the Ledra, this is a nice hotel, but the bedrooms are a massive let down for a 4 star hotel they need upgrading urgently.
The rest of the hotel is good, the entertainment team work very hard, and the pool bar, barman bin is a very friendly chap. The hotel is clean and the pool side area was clean they do require new sun beds and umbrellas they are old and uncomfortable and there are only a few pins to keep the umbrellas up not nice when you require some shade.
The food was ok lots of it but can get a little boring after 2 weeks as it was the same menu not much choice in soup either. Overall it’s not a bad hotel not sure if it should have a 4 star rating maybe 3 star+. Location is ok for getting into Paphos 15min walk, 30min if you want to walk to the harbour.
There is a good super market over the road they are cheaper than the shops in town. If you want to relax by the pool use the adult pool, just watch out for the kids who do not realise it’s for adults only. Would we go back to the Ledra...maybe.

This was our first visit to Cyprus...
5 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs J A Luckhurst

This was our first visit to Cyprus and one we were all looking forward to. I had stayed in Iberostar hotels before and had always found them excellent. Sadly that was not the case here. The rooms were cramped and shabby although clean, the bathrooms needed totally gutting, cracked tiles, rusting plugholes, tatty fittings, poor leaky showers. The towels were grey and threadbare (you'd throw them away at home!) The corridors smelt damp and musty and badly needed a lick of paint and new carpeting. The communal areas were ok although a lack of seating. The staff were friendly.
The food was good although did get a little repetitive after two weeks and the air conditioning was inadequate and dripped.
The entertainment team worked extremely hard day and night and although sometimes amateurish they at least tried to ensure guests had fun.
The location was perfect but this hotel certainly does not warrant it's 4 star rating and I will not be recommending it to anyone I know. We looked at several other 4 star hotels in the area and they had the Ledra Beach beat hands down!

The Ledra Beech hotel is well...
7 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs N Harper

The Ledra Beech hotel is well situated next to the beech with a 30 mins walk into Paphos.
The hotel staff were really friendly and bent over backwards to make our stay a good one, however I think the rooms and bathrooms need to be re-decorated up to modern day standards. The hotel was clean but was made to look dirty because of the decor in the rooms. We were lucky to get a sea view which was brilliant to wake up to in the morning.

The meals were really good with plenty of choices and the staff around the complex were friendly especially around the little bar near the beech.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but the rooms need to be modernized to present day standards.

Aug 2006, Mrs K Vale

This hotel will stay with me forever as my husband and i were married in Paphos and 55 guests came with us to stay here.
Beautiful hotel, Fantastic surroundings and great staff!
The only bad thing to say is, they lost our wedding cake (after the wedding thank-God!) and some guests were charged or tried to be charged for T.V they didn't watch!
Overall...awesome!

The lamentable Ledra beach hotel....
4 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr M Elvey

The lamentable Ledra beach hotel.
Situated on the tourist strip of Paphos the hotel is virtually indistinguishable from all other white concrete blocks on this 3 km line of south facing sun traps. If your idea of a holiday is to sit by a pool and be subject to the entertainments team constant attempts to make you join in with another rendition of the birdie song pool side and close enough to the family of 6 next to you to hear their every word, then this hotel is for you.
The food is buffet style and lacks any taste, the all inclusive drinks include some of the most hideous white wine known to man kind, gin that could fuel the local taxis and with a taste that suggests it has once already, beer whose only redeeming quality is that it is cold, but devoid of any flavor or alcohol content. The exploitative costs of the water sports equate to 1.20GBP per minute for a jet ski, available to over 18s only while the daily deafening sound of the evening’s entertainment required ear plugs before being able sleep. If you are allocated rooms 213 to 226, be prepared for the evening cabaret to come right into your room. Largely as your room is above the outdoor special events area. The cockroaches were a little off putting around the pool area, but only put at night, when you are eating.
By staying in the hotel you are really missing out on some wonderful local sites. Go to Korian about 40 k away towards Limassol for excellent Roman and Greek ruins, the Troodos Mountains for a fun drive and to the Chyrassaphy monastery for some peace and serenity away from the screaming entertainers, tasteless food and cool liquids of dubious origin. This was a horribly expensive holiday for the quality of “all inclusive". Add 20%+ to the invoice price to be able to afford to eat decent food in local bars. Car hire in the hotel was cheaper than elsewhere.
Hotel was clean, staff very nice, rooms were what you expect, bathrooms clean and constant hot water. The pool was never busy, although thick with sweat and sun cream. The most fun was getting your towel down time in the mornings. The guests start the towel run from 6.30am for prime pool side slots. By 8.30am you are left with the sites that have no shade, broken chairs and on the walkways to the bar. However, the early evenings on the beach when the crowds have gone, the entertainment stopped and the sun sets over the Med are lovely.
A typical sun trap concrete block hotel on the Med. If you never got out of the hotel it could be any concrete sun trap anywhere in the world.

This was my first time at the Ledra...

Aug 2006, sharonsm

This was my first time at the Ledra beach and definitely the last, the hotel was described as a 4* plus which was misleading, I would only give it a 2-3*.
Food was very competitive and very English, not an awful lot of choice, most dishes were served in stews and sauces. Reception staff had split personalities, one day smiling, the next day grumpy. Waiting on staff very polite and efficient.
Rooms were a bit tired looking but cleaned promptly everyday. pool area was really dirty looking, it was never hosed down and cleaned all the two weeks we were there, also the pool side tables and ashtrays were never cleaned. There was a 5 Cypriot pounds charge for the hotel beach towels, which I didn’t bother with as they were quite worn out and shabby.
Entertainment was a downside as well as you had to sit in a small little outdoor theatre, on little wooden benches, with no tables to put your drinks on. However the animation team.. will, eddie, tony, patrick, leanne, and lynne, all worked very hard and long hours thro the day to entertain everyone, they were brilliant with both adults and children, and everyone loved them.
Also deep behind the pool area bar was also very nice and worked very hard.. In the rooms the air conditioning was much appreciated, and also the mini bar which was stocked up everyday.

Superb location, superb views,...

Aug 2006, Mr Sw Wilson

Superb location, superb views, that’s the only good points I could comment on, the pool had missing tiles on the floor, rusty drainage covers and plastic cups every where and not to forget the ants.
The food was rubbish but if you like English food all day then its ok, but I thought we were in Cyprus not Blackpool, the rooms were no way near a 4 star rating, more like a back street hotel in Blackpool.
The entertainment was a joke but I must say they tried, I will not be going back to this hotel again.

We have just enjoyed a brilliant...

Aug 2006, Mr P Cunningham

We have just enjoyed a brilliant holiday at this hotel, the facilities are excellent, the food is very good and there is plenty of it, it is in an excellent location, and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.
It’s the first hotel we have been at that has more sun beds than people, and where the entertainers invite you to join in, but don't make a scene of it when you don't. The hotel reception staff could not do enough to help people, and a special mention goes to Lynne who ran the Kid's Club in such a fabulous fashion.
We will definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for an all inclusive package.

A family Holiday and wedding all in...
8 / 10
Jul 2006, Mrs T Struthers

A family Holiday and wedding all in one was the way we spent this holiday, over 20 adults and 4 children stayed at the Ledra beach from the 2nd July for 2 weeks, hotel is lovely although the bedrooms and bathrooms need up grading (just being honest) although this never bothered us as we were hardly in our rooms except for sleeping, the hotel staff were all very helpful, but at times the reception staff had a bit of a split personality (really nice one minute and rude the next).
The animation team however were fantastic, they kept everyone busy throughout the day with all sorts of activities with games, volley ball, water polo and water aerobics, inc a kids club, the evening entertainment was a laugh all the shows were hilarious, the animation team do work extremely hard and don't pester you to join in. The food in the restaurant and at the pool bar was lovely, not one of our party found fault with any of the food, we all came back 4lbs heavier.
I have read many recent reviews on this hotel, on many different sites, some people can't seem to enjoy a holiday without a good moan or trying to find faults, we have been on many holidays that weren't up to scratch but this is one of the best for a long while all due to the hotel we chose, the only small problems we found were the beach which is a lovely beach compared to some of the other hotels in this strip, the water sits on some rocks so be careful when paddling in the sea, and the hotel lifts were very cranky, closing on you and being unlucky to get stuck in one, but they do fix them quickly.
Remember your holiday is what you make it, if you’re not happy with something don't sit back and moan, do something about it and make it better!

My first impression of the hotel was...
7 / 10
Jun 2006, *pebbles*

My first impression of the hotel was lovely. One of the staff asked me what I would like to drink and told us he would bring it over. He told me to go sit down in a room.
When I got to this room, however I was told that the hotel was overbooked for 2 nights, by 13 rooms. The hotel was going to split our group booking of 8 rooms up, this included splitting my friends 13 year old daughter (who had paid full adult price) from her mother and the rest of their family. This was not the best start to our holiday or to the week leading up to my friends wedding day!
Once we were back at the hotel we all did have a wonderful time. The Thomas Cook reps were great in sorting out some compensation for us.
The food was nice, although after 2 weeks it did get a little boring. The food at the wedding reception was gorgeous.
The entertainment team were excellent most nights. All the holiday we could order drinks from the waitress right up until 12 midnight (at the bar in reception), but on the last night this changed and after 11.45 we had to get our own drinks from the bar. This was rather annoying when there are 16 people in you party, who were only allowed to order 2 drinks each.
Overall we had a great holiday, but I would say that was due to the people we travelled with, rather than the hotel.

We have just returned from our...

Jun 2006, mrs messer

We have just returned from our honeymoon at the Ledra Beach. While I can agree that there were some nights when the children staying at the hotel were a little OTT, it certainly didn’t spoil our holiday. One thing we didn’t bank on were the amounts of weddings taking place at the hotel. The day that the world cup started there were 9 weddings! It made for great 'people watching' that’s for sure!
The hotel was lovely the staff were very helpful and friendly, the position on the beach is by far better than other hotels in the same location as they have more rocks than sand! We had free sun beds and parasols on the beach, the beach bar, the food was excellent and varied.
The hotel were quite happy to provide you with drinks on All inclusive they can sometimes be a bit reluctant! It was a lovely walk along the coast into Paphos and to the harbour. Its also cheap to catch the bus which runs frequently.
We had a lovely room with champagne flowers wine and fruit provided as it was our honeymoon, although some people did tell us that their rooms needed updating, it still didn't spoil their holidays. We would definitely go back to the hotel again, but would also like to try the Paphos Amathus too.
