Great location hotel
This place has a great location in old puerto vallarta area as long as you're not driving. Close to beach, restaurants, stores, and bars/nightclubs. Price is OK. I liked everything except the small bathroom. Ask for upper floor rooms if available. First floors have ants but upper floors are better with view of the mountains.
Don't take any valuables with you!
I had booked a 3 night stay at the Hotel Mercurio in Puerto Vallarta following a conference I was attending in chily Denver, CO in February, 2006. I thought that P.V. would be the perfect place to escape the North American winter and that the Hotel Mercurio offered a gay-friendly place to stay after a hard-working meeting. Upon checking in to the Mercurio on Thursday, February 9, there was a group of young locals chatting it up with the day desk clerk. I think that they might have noticed my Tumi luggage and computer bag. I asked the... more
Friendly, clean, would stay again, but WiFi...
The hotel is clean; the staff very friendly and helpful; the breakfast varied, full and delicious; the rooms comfortable; the location great and safe. The only downside was the room doors did not appear to be very secure and getting a WiFi signal in the rooms was problematic, but fine in the lobby or pool area. I would definitely stay there again. BTW the in-room safe was large enough to hold a camera bag plus other valuables.
Friendly, Convenient and a Great Value
This was my first visit to Puerto Vallarta, so I wanted to be someplace that was centrally located. Also, because I was traveling solo, I wanted to stay at a hotel where there would be opportunities to mingle with the other guests and find friends to hang out with. I found Hotel Mercurio on the Internet (particularly swayed by other reviews on TripAdvisor), and it turned out to be everything I was looking for. The hotel is very relaxed and casual, but also well managed with a helpful and knowledgeable staff. According to the... more
The Perfect Place to Stay
I recently traveled solo to Puerto Vallarta and choose the Mercurio for its Gay Friendliness and location. I was not disappointed. From the moment I checked in I knew I had a made a wise decision. The desk clerks were friendly, professional, bi-linqual, and knowledgeable. My room had all the creature comforts I would want in the states. A new comfortable matress, remote controlled air conditioning, refrigerator, even a TV (but why would you watch TV in PV?) The bathroom was clean and had a large enough walk in shower. The pool area and... more
A Great Place to Stay
This was my fourth visit to Hotel Mercurio in the past year and each time it just gets better and better. The staff is extremely friendly, professional and very knowledgable. The newly renovated pool area is a wonderful place to relax -- especially in the evening before dinner. I really liked the new linens and mattresses in the rooms. This is a charming GLBT hotel which makes every guest welcome. I can't wait to go back.
Not all it is cracked up to be!
Hi everyone! After years of having my friends harp on me about going to "fabulous" Puerto Vallarta, I finally took the plunge, and last month I went there for a week. Not knowing anything about the geography of the place, I decided to book my trip not as a package, but, booking my airfare and hotel seperately and the cost was about an extra five hundred more. The flight from Toronto to Puerto Vallarta was direct and relatively smooth. It was a charter and I was dismayed to find out on the flight that the man sitting next to me managed... more
Mercurio deserves an A+
My partner & I just returned from 10 days at Hotel Mercurio. This was our second time at this hotel (we were there last year as well.) We enjoyed it last year, but this year was even better. This is not a 5-Star Diamond resort...but then neither are the prices. It is an EXCELLENT value for the price. The rooms are basic, but have everything you need...refrigerator, good air conditioning, very comfortable bed (better than my bed at home!), safe for valuables, ceiling fan, & cable TV with some English language channels. The bathroom... more
absolutely amazing!
Hotel Mercurio is a secret gem of Puerto Vallarta. Others have equated it with a Days Inn, which is not entirely inaccurate except for the service. The rooms are Days Inn-ish, which is to say: tile floors, bare walls, minimal closets, and functional bathrooms. The walls do not hold sound in very well, but everyone is typically very considerate of their neighbors. After all, we all get together daily for breakfast in the morning and cocktails in the afternoons. The service is akin to visiting your mom's house: a cheery welcome... more
Pleasant Hotel
My partner and I just got back from our first trip to Puerto Vallarta (and Mexico) and stayed at the Mercurio. We chose it for being Gay Friendly and hoped it would be decent and convenient. It really came through on all things. This little hotel is in a great spot, just a block from the beach and within easy walking distance to all the must see spots. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. They have the two most lovely room attendants in Viviana and Serena. They are always smiling and welcoming. Our room was very quiet.... more
