Hotel Mavino

We have just returned from a week in this hotel with our 3 children. The hotel is situated inside the castle area of Sirmione. It is run efficiently and well by a couple and cannot in any way be faulted for its cleanliness. The hotel rooms while being small have all the required needs to suit the traveller and are modern and well decorated with air conditioning, the windows are triple glazed which ensures the street noise is removed completely when they are closed. My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Mavino for 2 nights in October 2007. The location is excellent and very close to bars, restaurants, shops, the spa and the castle. It is in the old town of Sirmione. Check in was quick and easy. The staff were very helpful, efficient and friendly. The room was comfortable, clean and neat. Sirmione is a beautiful town right on the tip of the peninsula of Lake Garda. It is definitely a must for anyone visiting Italy's largest lake. Hotel Mavino could not have been a more perfect choice. We stayed at the Mavino in May 2007 for our honeymoon. The location is ideal - right in the centre of Sirmione, close to all restaurants and shops. It is also just a short walk to the Grotte di Catullo (Roman ruins) and close to the 'Terme' of Sirmione. Our room was lovely, spotless clean, airconditioned and had a great lake view as we had requested. This 3* hotel was amazing for the money! Situated within the walled section of the town, we were only a stroll from all of the lovely shops, bars and restaurants. We were given a lovely room, with a balcony and a partial lake view. Once the patio doors were closed, we could not here any noise from the street below (not that it is noisy anyway). We stayed at Hotel Mavino for four nights. The hotel itself is very well located within the castle walls of Sirmione although if you wish to drive up to the door you should do so either early in the morning or late at night on your first occasion as the streets are very narrow and are littered with pedestrians from 11am to early evening. A very nice hotel to stay at if you only want bed and breakfast are not bothered about a swimming pool. The hotel is modern style, rooms are very clean, bathroom compact but very nicely fitted out. Digital aircon very good. The best rooms for lake view and balcony are 207,208,307,308. Position of hotel is ideal, inside the town gates, it is worth paying any extra to stay within Sirione and not on the outskirts. Breakfast is good but limited choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

In general we loved our stay in Sirmione at the Mavino. The location was fantastic, just outside the main tourist hub of the village, but at the same time only a 2 minute walk away and the hotel was very modern and clean. The room was great and almost felt like we were the first people to stay in it as it smelt so new and was really well furnished, we really liked the decor and the way the room was designed, with ample space, although we didn't have a lake view, I'm sure that this was because we booked last minute, and a lake view would... more

What a lovely place. Very clean. Fresh simple decor. Very friendly staff. Great location. Nice breakfast. Great lake views from balcony. Would really reccommend it!
