Hotel Joli

I got the Hotel Joli from the Eyewitness Book. It was a lovely hotel located at Piazza Ignazio Florio. We had a small room with a very small bathroom on the third floor, but the maid graciously helped us with our luggage. The staff didn't speak much English but were very helpful. They helped us make dinner reservations and directed us around the city. They were very attentive and made sure that we received all of our messages. The hotel is very close to everything. Stayed at Hotel Joli the night before catching a plane home from Palermo airport. The room was basic but fine for one night and near enough to the airport (either by bus or cab). Palermo is generally not a particularly pleasant place but we did manage to find a fantastic restaurant in rather a random place - Nabucco on Piazza San Domenico, Largo Cavalieri di Malta - the manager was so friendly and recommended some delicious food. This hotel is a safe choice if you, like me, got a bit overwhelmed with the amount of Hotels and B&B's in Palermo. The hotel itself is simple ans quite small. The service is OK, nothing special but the breakfast and the breakfast staff were awful. Quite expensive for the little room you get normally facing the street with a nice balcony, but it can be very noisy indeed. Ask for a room at the back if you can and do not leave food lying around the room as, I found out my bag of dry fruit full of ants just after leaving it on the... more

Stayed there for one night at the end of our vacation. Clean, comfortable room, pleasant atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff. It's in the middle of town, but still it was a quiet location. Not far from the bus to the airport, but 15-20 minutes leisurely walk from the central station. Compares very well with other hotells in the same price range. Our first choice next time.

We stayed here for 2 nights during May. This hotel is only about a 7 minute walk from where the airport bus drops you off and is also within easy walking distance to the main tourist attractions in Palermo. The hotel is quiet, clean and the staff both friendly and helpful. The Breakfast was average. We would stay here again.

Palmero is such a crazy, loud place that you need a laid back place to rest. Hotel Joli proved a good base, as its on the corner of the Piazza Florio, which is thankfully off the main street (away from the noise from the traffic - especially the blepping), round the corner from the main shopping street, walking distance to the main tourist attractions - Palazzo Reale, the catherdral, Quattro Canti and the buses - take 806 to Mondello, the seaside town. This hotel is only about a 10 minute walk from where the airport bus drops you off, also only a 10 minute walk from the Avis (and other) car rental place. It's about as convenient to the major sites in Palermo as anywhere, in a safe neighborhood, but on a quiet side street. The hotel lobby has really nice paintings on the ceiling. We (party of 5)started our 2 week trip of Sicily in Palermo and spent 2 nights at the Hotel Joli before renting a car and spending the next 11 days visiting the marvelous island of Sicilia. (2 blocks from the car rental agency AutoEurope) The hotel was comfortable and clean. Good value for the money. I would return. The staff extremely friendly and helpful, especially Claudio, who brought our bags to the room. The elevator is quite small, the size of a small phone booth. We used the stairs the rest of our stay.

Don't expect luxury but the rooms are a reasonable size, simply furnished and clean and comfortable. The better rooms have a balcony onto the street and, although the location is quiet by Palermo standards, there is still inevitable noise. However, the sound proofing is good and the air conditioning was very efficient - essential even at the end of October.
