room - fantastic .... location - fantastic......staff - fantastic....bathroom - diddy!!! but clean..shower - yep thats right - fantastic!! we loved this hotel and would definately stay here again for the price and the location theres nothing more you ccould ask for.

Superb location and more charming than most hotels I’ve stayed in Paris. Most of the staff at the hotel are very friendly and courteous; however, if/when you arrive late, watch out for an night receptionist, an older guy, with a lot of attitude and who likes to give the tourists a hard time by pretending not to find their reservation in the system. Hotel was average, we'd requested a double bed, we got two singles with a double sheet covering them. The reception staff were efficient but not as friendly as previous reviews have mentioned. On numerous websites the breakfast is advertised as E5 but is in actual fact E8. Hotel Sorbonne is in a great location - close to the Metro and all the major sights. The Latin Quarter is lively, convenient and safe (speaking as a single female traveller, this was a big advantage of the hotel). There's a 24-hour Internet cafe just up the road from the hotel (good rates) and the area has numerous cafes and restaurants. Staff were fairly friendly and competent. All in all, I had a really pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Paris to explore the city.

The team is really welcoming. Hotel de la Sorbonne has a quiet environment. The Luxembourg gardens and the famous building Le Pantheon are very close. We just have to walk two minutes to reach these fabulous places. We stayed in room n°44. We had a direct view on La Sorbonne, the well known French university. The room was clean and in a very good state. The breakfast room is colourful and breakfast really well served. It's quite cheap for a two stars hotel of such a good quality.

Yes, the rooms are small. VERY small. But considering the first time I stayed in Paris I payed more for a hotel room in a terrible neighborhood that had a mirror on the ceiling and mice in the boxspring (yes. There were mice in my mattress.) small was no problemo for me. The place is spotlessly clean and the rooms are very cute with a lot of character. From reading previous comments about the size of the rooms, I was expecting a broom cupboard . . . but the rooms are pretty decent in size and very clean. Okay the lift is very small but it was not a major problem. Our room overlooked the Sorbonne, you can sit in the nearby cafes watching the world go by. The fantastic thing about this hotel is location!! Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter is about a five minute stroll away. We would definitely return to Hotel de la Sorbonne!!

I stayed here with my 8 year old son in January. I agree completely with the previous reviewer from Portland, Oregon...this is a small, quaint European hotel, not a huge impersonal American chain. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, spoke fluent english, and encouraged us in our pathetic attempts at french. When we arrived, my sisters-in-law and brother-in-law had been waiting in the lobby for us for more than an hour (our flight was delayed). Don't listen to the bad reviews of this hotel. I stayed here twice, once on my honeymoon 4/95 and my 10th anniversary 4/06 with 2 little children. We had a great time, both times. The rooms are small and the bathroom is tiny but it's a OLD BUILDING AND A OLD HOTEL. If you want big rooms, stay at a Holiday Inn (yuck) with no charm but plain american rooms. We stayed here last March for one week. We got a double room with a shower and one double bed. We had enough room to store our clothes for the week, although the room was not very big. But it had a nice view and was, most important to us, clean. The bathroom was very small and shallow (our friends had a bigger bathroom in their room with two double beds)- I had to keep the door open to wash my face, because I could not bend over the sink with the door shut. It also took some maneuvering to shower without getting water on the bathroom... more
