Welcoming, atmospheric
Just back from four days in Deia staying in the Hotel D'es Puig (pronounced 'pooch'). The owner is faultlessly welcoming and helpful. He offered to help with recommending and booking restaurants (sometimes necessary at weekends and in seaon in Deia). The pool is lovely with dramatic views across the village and up into the hills. An honesty bar is a good touch. And the hotel is superbly located for the main nightlife in Deia, the beach and hill walking. (It's also across the street from The Residencia and you can use... more
majorcan rustic charm
We have been visiting this hotel for 10 years now. Some 7 years ago Lucien and Anna Maria took over the management role. The hotel has not only performed consistently over that time but on each of our annual visits it has continued to improve. They listen to their clients many of whom like us come back year after year so that they can reflect their needs . A recent example of that is the installation of WIFI. The experience, the ambience, ,the service and the attention to detail are what set them apart from most of their competitors in the... more
Great place
Stayed here and the hotel and town were brilliant - and despite the fact we had terrible weather. However you need to know the hotel is tiny (8 rooms) and few facilities - though somehow it fits in a terrace and swimming pool! But overall you have to look after yourself - the terrace is closed early. Rooms very nice (bed not great) and breakfast good. However you won't get 24 hour room service etc etc! We really enjoyed it but not everyone would. Think parking would be a problem during peak season.
A relaxing sanctuary
We first went to the Hotel in 2004 (June) and stayed for 3 nights. Last year we stayed for 5 nights (July) and this year we are making a full week of it (August). We absolutely love the place. Deia is fab - the restaurants are lovely, the scenary is spectacular and you can really relax and wind down. The hotel has only a few rooms so it is not busy or noisy. The breakfasts are continental style with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, breads/croissants and toast with tea/coffee and fruit juice. Breakfast can be... more
Great location
This little hotel has a fantastic location. Like other reviewers we loved the terraces and I imagine in warmer weather, the little pool would be a real bonus. I also loved the honesty bar. I felt though that breakfast could be a little better and agree that for the price, the beds were disappointing. we paid extra for a balconey room (well worth it) yet the beds were little more than camp beds.
Great little hotel but..
We stayed in this hotel twice in a twelve month period. The position is superb, as is the cleanliness, the terrace, the pool etc. The second time we stayed however - in late April, we found the management locked the doors onto the terrace in the evening and did not allow guests to sit under the lemon trees to watch the sun go down. This is such a pity as the views are spectacular. I wonder if this still happens? I really want to return there as we love Deia and the hotel but we did feel a bit 'locked out'.
Lovely hotel in stunning location
Deia is fantasitc and the hotel is set in a fab location in the town. We had one of the rooms with a terrace and had great views over the hills. The common areas of the hotel are very tastfully decorated. Our room was lovely although a bit spartan. We also found the beds not as comfortable as we would have expected from such a hotel. The swimming pool and terrace area is delightful and a real bonus. We thought that the hotel was really good value and would definately go back. The staff on the whole are friendly and helpful. Beautiful!
went in 2003, and loved the hotel des puig so much, we went back for our honeymoon in may 2004. Deia is a beautiful, romantic village, (make sure you take the walk up to the top of the hill to the church where Robert Graves is buried, the views are spectacular). The hotel is just across the road from La Residencia and another 5-star hotel is just along the road - and even if i had the money, i would prefer the des puig. Breakfast on the terrace is marvellous.. you feel like you are floating in the mountains. There is also a pretty pool,... more
Absolute Gem
Just returned from a fantastic week at the 'hotel on the hill', views are amazing from the terrace (where a good breakfast is served) and the pool area. The hotel itself is full of character and both clean and comfortable. Whilst there is no bar, there is an honesty bar which works well, having cold beer on hand is definetly appreciated in the summer heat. Planning on returning next year which says it all, I'm normally hard to please..
Wonderful Character Hotel in great location
We stayed here in 2003. It really was a great find especially when La Residencia was full (and bonus as des Puig is a fifth of the price). This little hotel is full of character in a beautiful setting. Breakfast in the mountains is to die for. I would definately go again and recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere different and special.
