Hotel de Varenne

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Varenne. Our rooms were smallish but well furnished and clean. The location is great, on a fairly quiet street and a 2 block walk to the Varenne metro station. Although the hotel advertises it is air conditioned, we found that the system had been turned off for the winter. It was unseasonably warm so we had to open the windows and endure the noise. The hotel was relatively well located close to a few attractions and a relatively easy walk (20 minutes) to the Eiffle Tower. We picked up a bus tour close to the hotel and that was a great way to get a basic overview of the city. The hotel staff was not the friendliest, but oh well. I wasn't there to see them. My room was a little small, but my parents and my brother and sister all had good sized rooms...I even paid more than they did for an upgraded room??? Just got back from a long weekend at the Varenne and just had to say we loved the place. Stayed with my wife and two kids in two seperate rooms. The area is quiet and full of embassies which actually made you feel really secure. Well positioned with the use of three different metro stations within 300 meters. The hotel and staff were terrific, and we will definitely stop again when in Paris.

The Hotel de Varenne in the 6th Ar. near the Rodin Museum and the Invalides is a charming small hotel in a very convenient location. The staff is helpful and efficient. The rooms are well appointed and maintained. The rates are reasonable.

I used TripAdvisor to find this hotel and we were not disappointed. Location is excellent for playing tourist. Good restaurants, pastisseries and boulangeries etc nearby. Rooms are somewhat small although the most expensive ones are a bit larger. They are well furnished and the bathrooms are fine. The larger rooms were all booked during our visit from Oct 1-7. This hotel is close to everything -- public transport, The Rodin Museum, the Eiffel Tower. I will quote another reivew here ans say that "It is also close to the little things a traveler might need -- pharmacy, cash machine and terrific little bread and pastry shops. The street is quiet and makes for a nice respite in the middle of a big city." The garden/court area is beautiful and quite. The front desk/dining area is tiny but adequate. This is a small Left Bank hotel that feels more like a large bed and breakfast. Our window actually opened, and it looked out on the pleasant courtyard at the off-street hotel entrance. The hotel is walking distance from the Seine, the Place de la Concorde, Boulevard St. Germain, Rodin Museum and Orsay Museum. Metro stops are omnipresent and get you anywhere quickly and cheaply. A wonderful hotel in a perfect location but let down only a little by the staff. Don't get me wrong the staff were nice enough but the service at breakfast was terrible. After several requests and 30 minutes later in only a half full breakfast room we eventually tucked in to a nice breakfast. A quicker service would easily have added the extra etoile

The first thing we noticed about the de Varenne is its location. Everything is close by -- Les Invalides, The Rodin Museum, the Eiffel Tower. Hotel Varenne was our 1st experience in Paris. Very happy with room size and extreme cleanliness. Staff was very pleasant and efficient. We did not try breakfast @ hotel. Generously sized shampoo and soap amenities, PLUS washcoths! Most importantly--area is EXTREMELY safe! Located near international embassies. Evening walks from the hotel to metro and/or latin quarter are a delight and 24-hour ATM withdrawals by tourists are not intimidating. Many prior hotel guests refer to the Varenne metro station.
