Hotel Comercio Barcelona

A big disappointment. The room was clean but the decor bland; the staff communicated only in grunts; the noise from other guests returning to their rooms kept us awake for large parts of the night (in hindsight we should have asked for a room on the upper floors); the breakfast was reasonable but the coffee the worst I have ever tasted; the television had no remote control (it's amazing how lazy we are nowadays!). It was relatively cheap and I suppose you get what you pay for - but we have paid the same and got far better elsewhere in Spain.... more

Great location just off Les Rambles but incredibly noisy, even during the low season. Staff ok and breakfast was reasonable although the cafes just off Placa Reial offer far better sustenance. However, our room was broken into on the last night - a combination of some very lax security by the night porter (no force was used) and the fact that despite the Adjuntament's best efforts, Le Barri Gotic and Ciutat Vella is still a hotbed of petty crime.
