Hotel Antigo Trovatore

Wasn’t sure what to expect as the price was very reasonable for the location, but upon arriving the staff were friendly, the room size was more than adequate, bigger than expected, it was very clean, nice size shower, clean sheets every day.The breakfast is ok if you just want a coffee. The location was spot-on; every place is accessible within 5 minutes walking. I would say don’t leave your windows open as it is quite noisy especially from the bells that ring every half hour. I stayed in this hotel in August 2003 with my mum and my sister. The location was absolutely superb and whilst the room and the bathroom were very basic it was spotlessly clean but for the price a real steal. We got a great deal from hotelclub.net. It is rated as a 2 star hotel so I was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely friendly but it is the location that made the difference. 3 minutes took you to St Mark's Square so we were right in the hub of everything. Very disappointing. For 210 Euros a night I expected more. The room was fine..very plain but cold (the heating is on a timer so don't ask for it to be turned up!!). Our major complaint was that it advertises an elevator. I specifically emailed the hotel to ensure it had an elevator as my mother is in her eighties. We were assured that it had.
