Great comfortable and relaxing hotel
We have just returned from a week at the Albatroz Hotel in Cascais, and I would thoroughly recommend a week there. The hotel stands on rocks overlooking the sea and the view is lovely. It is very close to the centre and a great choice of sandy beaches. The rooms are well appointed and well serviced and the daily refilled Port decanter and 'turn back' service are nice touches. We had a room with a balcony and thought it was worth the extra cost. The service was discrete, efficient and very friendly. The breakfast was good and... more
This hotel is divine.
My fourth visit to the hotel for a Summer break in as many years. I cannot reccommend this hotel enough, the staff are always friendly and helpfull, the rooms are great and the location excellent. I stay in the Palace when i go, which i would reccommend. We are a family with 2 young kids and there has never been a problem, they spend the whole day in the pool or wander down to the beach if they fancy digging in the sand, the hotel itself is also 2 mins walk from the middle of town with its selection of restaurants and even a McDonalds... more
Attentive service, beautiful rooms
We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Albatroz and were very impressed with this hotel. The service was friendly and attentive making us feel calm, relaxed and welcome. Our room was lovely, with a great view over the small hotel pool and towards the bay and harbour. The public rooms were also attractively furnished, more like a comfortable country house than a typical five star hotel. This is a very convenient place to stay to combine a relaxing break lying in the sun overlooking the sea, with the chance to explore Lisbon,... more
The Lovely Albatroz
My husband and I stayed at the Albatroz on our Honeymoon this past June (2005) for four nights and absolutely loved this hotel. The staff members were knowledgeable, friendly, and warm. The view from our beautiful room was incredible. The restaurant was top notch. At this hotel we were able to relax and ease our way into our vacation. We found that it was a wonderful place to stay while exploring Sintra and the Atlantic Coast outside of Lisbon. We hope to return someday with our parents and our children. We did find it helpful to have... more
Wonderful experience
I travel extensively on a global basis for business. My travels recently landed me in Portugal, at the Albatroz. I found this hotel to be very clean and conveniently located, with a staff that pays extra attention to detail. This served as an excellent base of operations to conduct my business in the area, and would also be an outstanding place to go for a vacation stay . There is a patio that wraps around the outside of the main building that you could sit on for hours overlooking the beach and ocean. They have a bottle of port in the rooms... more
Almost perfect
It seems petty to carp about minor weaknesses when so much is good. Housekeeping is first class. Food is excellent, but dinner menu could do with a change. Remember to ask if you don't see what you want. The staff try very hard and are generally extremely pleasant. If you drink spirits the prices here are much lower than elsewhere, in contrast to other things in the hotel. Perfect place in a perfect town for a relaxing holiday, yet Lisbon is easily accessible by a regular train service, and there are numerous clubs in Cascais where... more
Not a pleasant stay
Nice view of the Atlantic - provided you are staying on the ocean view side. If, on the other hand, you have a room overlooking the street, as we did, you will be gravely disappointed. Be very careful when making your reservation to specify the former rather than the latter. Furthermore, we found it impossible to get a lounge chair at the small pool overlooking the Atlantic. And this after going for breakfast at 8am. Breakfast was, however, uniformly excellent and delicious every day. Finally, we found the staff both rude and snobby... more
Fabulous Albatroz Hotel
This is a fabulous hotel in a great spot overlooking the beach and sea. It's 5* luxury without the snobbiness. The service is great and people are friendly (unlike some 5* establishments) and eager to please. Lots of sun decking and garden areas with loungers and parasols, and 2 small pools. Try Room 101 (yes, really), it has fabulous views all round. It's 250 yards from the railway station, and in the centre of town (though none of this is noisy) with plenty of restaurants at your fingertips,... more
Peaceful Retreat
Just stayed at Albatroz, and even though it was winter, I really enjoyed the hotel. The hotel is a charm, with a privileged location, secluded, and with great modern and spanking new rooms. I had a room overlooking the sea, and what a great view that was. There no other place to stay in Cascais.
Great Hotel with good and friendly staff
Great location with a bar on edge of cliffs, good foor, good rooms. First class all round
