Hotel Al Gazzettino

Very nice hotel in an excellent location. I sat on our window sill and watched the gondolas go by under my feet. Excellent location, clean and the staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

My husband & I stayed at Al Gazzettino in June '07 for three days. My mom & sister stayed here for six days. We had double rooms. Both rooms were spacious and clean. Our room overlooked the entranceway alley, which was pleasant and surprisingly quiet. Their room overlooked the canal and provided a great view but slightly more noise at night and in the morning. this is a little gem located on a pretty canal just a few minutes walk from both the rialto bridge and san marco piazza. The rooms are in venetian style, our room was decorated with a beautifully romantic red and gold material wall paper. The bathroom was small but modern with a hairdryer and the room had a safe. Very well priced for its location - right next to St Marks square and overlooks a canal. Breakfast was a bit on the simple side and our room was right at the top (no lift). Clean and spacious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

We booked this B&B in octopus travel for just 50eur per night (including breakfast). BEST: The location is perfect, just 5 min walk from San Marco Square or Rialto Bridge. Spacious, clean and well decorated rooms. The staff were very friendly. WORST: No lift (we were on the 3rd floor). Beds not very comfortable. But who cares? For this price, it's great value. TIP: If you can, try to get one of the rooms with views to the channel ;) Highly recommended!

I found this hotel on either Hotels or Otels (can't remember which) with a quoted TOTAL price of €109 for a double room for TWO nights so I was extremely cautious about what we were getting ourselves into. I was half expecting a 'hostel' type place with a communal bathroom for that price but we went for it anyway as we don't normally spend too much time hanging around the hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights in August. Location is excellent, though it is difficult to find on arrival. Rooms were clean and fully air conditioned. Well worth it!

We stayed in this hotel at the recommendation of my mom who's been there plenty of times. It's in the perfect location - close to everything but away from any chaos. It's a walkup with about 4 floors. I stayed in a double room which was roomy, had a great comfy bed, TV, A/C, and a small bathroom (average cleanliness for the bathroom). We visited Venice in early April 2005. We found the hotel Al Gazzettino which is in a convenient central location but also far enough away from the crowds to be peaceful. It is mid way between San Marco and Rilato. The hotel has a restaurant of the same name which is very well presented, has very friendly and helful staff and provides a warm welcome to all visitors. Al Gazzettino has an attached restaurant. It reflects the newspaper of the same name, tastefully decorated with headlines on the walls. We ducked in here to get out of the rain. The waitress greeted us with a complimentary glass of proseco and a smile. The food was wonderful, the service warm and helpful. We enjoyed watching our wait person adeptly filet a fish entree at the table. We returned another day because it offered such as good balance of friendliness and great food.
