Hospes Palacio de los Patos

We arrived at the hotel (from Seville) late on a Monday afternoon and from the moment we entered were treated to excellent service. The staff were fantastic booking taxis, restaurants, taking bags to the rooms - everything you'd expect from a 5* hotel. The ultimate irony - one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever been in, with some of the best linen, yet so much shouting and screaming on the street below, from midnight to 6.15am, that I slept scarcely a wink. This hotel is in a renovated old villa. It's a beautiful old building with modern furnishings. The rooms are very nice, roomy bathrooms. Breakfast was also quite good. When we checked into our room it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. They had no non-smoking rooms available, so that was a minus for our stay. Also, people were allowed to smoke at breakfast. Without a doubt this is the best hotel in Granada. It offers incredible oasis like privacy in the midst of a very vibrant city. The staff treated us like royalty. We enjoyed the Arabic style ceilings in the lobby and the courtyard was nice change of pace from the bustling city. The Hotel Manager gave me an historic explanation of this palace that was almost destroyed but thankfully was saved by Hospes Hotel Chain. Their investment in renovations is noteworthy. I booked this hotel about 5 minutes before I checked in. It was a good find overall. The location is on a fairly busy street with a lot of noise. It could definitely keep you up. We had a terrible time finding the hotel (even with GPS), finding parking and then getting up to the hotel with our bags from the parking garage. Excellent stay you can feel the peacefulness of the place from the first moment you arrive and the staff make you feel really wellcome! You cannot stay in the hotel without visiting its Restaurant ! I highly recommend it . Overall a great experience.

We stayed in a junior suite, room 40, located on the 4th floor. It was actually an oversized room withj no separation between the sitting area and the sleeping area. It was decorated totally in white, except for a partial wood floor. It had 1 King bed, a small desk and chair (with a TV attached to the wall above the desk), 2 comfortable swivel chairs, and a leather coffee table. The bedroom/sitting room size was about 18' x 20'. I found the modern decoration a bit strange, and some features were missing as they would have looked out of place. Excellent room, very confortable bed and nice firm pillows. The bathroom and shower were all ultra modern and made of marble and slate with frosted glass walls. We were above the kitchen and heard nothing. Staff were excellent and very helpful. The food was excellent and we ate in every night.

Having stayed in the Hospes Palacio del Bailio in Cordoba, part of the same hotel family, we had very high expectations. This hotel, while convienently located and nicely designed, was not quite up to par. The biggest problem, though, was the noise, when made sleep very difficult.
